Winegums' Woodcraft

It would be the same as what I would charge for my Vapcap Bodies, $50-65 USD. It's roughly the same thing just a large bore size. I'll have to ask around the arizer thread for some really precise measurements or buy one of the Arizer stems. I'd feel more confident in making a solid product if I had the glass in my hand. If there's more interest from other members in the Arizer thread for glass lined wood stems I'll buy the glass for prototyping.QUOTE]

Okay, lets chat off thread then...given the Arizer Air community (see thread) I don't think you'll have a hard time AT ALL to recoup the "tooling" expenses.

I really have to thank everyone for the positive encouragement that got me started and has continued to push me along. I'm having a lot of fun so far.

Here's two of the four bodies that will come out of that one piece of laminate. I'm not entirely happy with the way #10 came out as the pattern doesn't match 100%. I dropped the price accordingly.

I think I could make something work. A glassy body from dynavap should be able to slip into a wood tube. I would make the wood slightly shorter than the glass such that tips of the glass would stick out. This should protect the wood from reclaim.

That would be great, let us know if it can be done!

Wine, do you intend to also make stems for other vapes? Id love a similar one to #8 for my nano
Absolutely. @TwistedGray is looking for a wood over glass solution for his Arizer air that would work in the same way. I would need the outer and inner diameter of the stem as well as the maximum length in order to size things properly.

For these log style vapes, how hot do the stems get? Wood glue is only able to handle so much heat before it gets soft and falls apart. I could certainly turn solid wood pieces that would match the bodies that Epic vape sells. I just worry about a section of the wood at the base of the stem giving way and sliding into the internals of the vapourizer, (which is not cool at all). Also the wood could begin to caramelize and partially burn if it got hot enough.

@ work though I have a digital calliper and an A.A so I'll try get some stem measurements for you when I'm at home later..

P.S your etsy links don't work since it's linking to pages intended for the account owner.

I can get in through https://www.etsy.com/il-en/shop/WinegumsWoodcraft

Here's an example of a page link:

I had no idea they weren't working ><. I'll make sure they're fixed for next time. Thanks for the heads up.

I would be very grateful for some measurements.

Standard A.A stem measurements. LMK if you have any Q's or need more. Hope it helps.

EDIT: Sorry missing a critical part. The lowest part of the narrower length of the stem is about 12.3mm (Just above H2). The OD right at the top is about 12.15mm. Obviously this is my specific stem, and as my stem has some variances, others will have other variances.

Thanks! I'll get to work on this when I can tomorrow.

For now I have some new material to work with.

@rz and @TwistedGray

My biggest concern with the Airizer air stems is how I'm going to connect the wood tube to the glass. Since this is a portable vapourizer I wouldn't want the wood to come off at a bad time and be lost or broken. The variances in tube diameter are a fitment nightmare for someone like me making an aftermarket part. I could devise a friction fit if they were all the same but they likely aren't and glass doesn't flex much. That being said...

I recently found out that there's a threaded glass option for the stems which would make my life and your life really easy. If I can find a matching thread tap we would have a solid way to connect the two dissimilar materials. This would ease my mind as far as fitment and longevity go. The only down side is the wood would now be in the vapour path and exposed to reclaim.

Please give me your thoughts on the matter.

All in all, probably not worth your trouble...but would be cool to see one!
I don't think it would be much trouble at all. I think it would be a really cool accessory that is painless to remove and swap out. Finding a tap to thread the hole shouldn't hard either, redesigning threads is a pain so they would have done something that is standard size.

Alan's wooden stems have a similar caveat (that I personally don't care about) that he alleviated by inserting a smaller glass tube inside the wooden one lol. Sounds kinda silly as the idea is to make the stems unbreakable but there will need to be compromise somewhere.

Personally, I'd be down for log vape stems but that is a given I think

An update for everyone interested in Arizer Air stems.

I've ordered a glass stem and the mouth piece version so I can begin prototyping. With the measurements that @rz gave me I should be able to get going as soon as the parts arrive.

Also, I'm looking for suggestions on what shapes and patterns I should be making in the future. I'm really open to doing some custom stuff as well. I enjoy the process of working with someone to create what they have in their head.

I have some wood dyes that I might try using later to add some vibrant colour to things. Stay tuned for more on that later on.

Just to make sure, you're not making a unit that is for the glass piece that has the mouth piece that screws into it, are you? If so, I wouldn't recommend that approach...I'd go with something that covers the largest stem. Anyone that gets that stem (roughly $10-15) will likely only use that stem.

I got both types of stem to use for prototyping.

I'm just really unsure if I can make something that will work reliably with every normal stem.
