What was your first experience with vaping?

I remember finding about vaping in high school, and immediately recognizing that could bea god-send for me as I hated all forms of smoking, but liked cannabis. So seeing that it's possible to inhale it without smoking and even saving money sounded almost too good to be true. I didn't have much money back then, so the first thing I did was to make a lightbulb vape. And it failed, but the idea of vaping was still too attctactive to me so I dind't give up on it, and saved some money over time to buy a Vapir Oxygen Mini. Even though that vape is basically garbage it worked jsut enough to finally make me high without smoke. And I never intentionally smoked ever since. Then I got the Iloite, which was a laarge improvement, first vape that wasn't garbage. And then I finally got a desktop (Arizer EQ) and that was basically the first time I've had a device so powerful that even other people could enjoy it. The VAS kicked in, got a MLFB, then VapeChale Cloud, then Arizer Air, then E-Nano, then Arizer Air II, and finally Musa 510. E-Nano and Musa 510 are my main drivers for now, VapeXhale being the luxury one for special occasions. But yeah, I was sold on vaping from the very starts, probably even before I experienced it for the first time.

My first was really horrible- 70s-90s they used to sell "vaporizers" in the back of High Times that were basically soldering irons with a metal plate mounted on them. There was a glass dome that sat on top. Almost looked like a mini gumball machine. Really bad..smelled like popcorn when using it. Pretty sure I just lost some brain cells just repeating that story.

My first experience with vaping (besides hot knives and hash) was with one of these hot plate globe vaporizers. I've been trying to find a picture of the style but it is so ancient it seems lost to the internet. It was 1999 and my best friend came back from the head shop with a bong like I expected and another surprise, the vaporizer. We had no clue what we were doing and our cannabis wasn't the highest quality so while we got a buzz we weren't overly impressed and actually thought the flavor was worse than smoking. It truly did smell and taste just like popcorn, more so than the bottom tier of modern conduction vaporizers.

Fast forward to 2010 and I became a medical marijuana patient for the first time. I looked into vaporizing again and discovered Fuck Combustion. I only lurked there at the time and didn't make an account. I ended up buying an iolite, the Purple Days interested me too but wasn't quite right for my needs at the time. The VapeXhale Cloud was starting to pick up a lot of pre-release buzz and the videos were mind blowing compared to my experience with the globe vape. I enjoyed the iolite but it was more of a fun novelty for daytime and stealth use, I kept combusting.

In 2015 I was having health issues from combusting and was going to quit consuming cannabis entirely. It helps medically but the combustion side effects weren't worth it. Just when I had finally had enough I remembered FC and signed up. I ended up buying an E-Nano with the great advice from the forum's community and fell in love instantly. The flavor and potency was much better than the iolite and light years beyond the first globe vape I tried.

As a smoker I would microdose before I even knew what that was. I packed small bowls in glass pipes and would take a hit or two at a time. It was a rare occasion that I would smoke a joint or blunt, mostly socially. Most conduction and session vapes don't work well with that usage scenario so I needed on demand convection to be able to vaporize and medicate as efficiently as possible. I still enjoy sessions on occasion, usually socially.

C'mon....where are all my brother and sisters of the MFLB?!

I just bought my first mflb waiting for it to get
Here!
My first vape was one of those him all machine soldering iron death balls someone else posted about lol. Absolutely trash and it stunk my whole room up, which made me paranoid af, cause i was still living with the parents I didn’t get very high and I didn’t use another vape for a few years.
Then one day, I think around my 20’s someone had a volcano. They pumped out this huge bag they rigged up that was the length of several normal bags. We sat on that for what seemed like 15 min lol, it was stupid, but it made ME stupid high. I couldn’t walk home I had to sit on the sidewalk. Tried to smoke a cig. But that made it worse so I just sat there, and decided I was going to buy one of these things. I then bought a table top whip box thing, it was pretty solid, but not the volcano. Got one a year later when the same friend moved
And gifted me the thing.
now I don’t smoke nearly as much for various reasons, I gave it to a friend to introduce to the world of vape. I bought a few pen style vapes, had a pax, didn’t like that it was a required 10-15 min sesh and they stunk.
I currently own a vapcap (my friend is using it during covid) and I ordered the nautilus mflb a few days ago. I vape throughout the day,
But it’s always just a small hit here and there, and mostly cbd flower/wax

I love that little story! I can just picture you stoned out of your mind sitting on the curb thinking “I need that in my life”. If I get incapacitated with cannabis it just makes me want to recreate that experience. Contrast that with alcohol, when I overindulge I swear I will never drink again!

This thing?

Or perhaps something more like this? https://maps.org/images/063pipe5.jpg

In 2017 I bumped into a friend who said he'd gone from smoking an oz in 2 weeks to vaping an oz in 5 to 6 weeks. He also said don't buy a cheap vaporizer. I then did some research and decided I wanted a Mighty but didn't want to invest that sort of money into something I'd never tried before because I may not even like vaping. I settled on getting a Vivant Alternate just to get my foot in the door, did a search and there was 1 seller in the whole country on ebay within 5 miles of my location (picked it up in person). As soon as I took my first hit, I tasted the weed and felt the effects and new I was going to purchase a Mighty, which I did about a month later.

I tried smoking a week after getting the Vivant and it just tasted awful so I haven't done it since

Now that i think about it ,my first experience vaping is when i decided to dab BHO on a tiny stove and catch the vapors with a top part of that piece.Maybe around 2005.

Been smoking the sacrament (as its referred to in Jamaica) for over 50 years and following heart surgery in 2014 i decided to try vaping for the obvious health benefits.

My first vape was the original Davinci which kinda looked like an old fashioned transistor radio and initiated a part time vaping journey. Didn't know what to make of the thin wispy sipping draws although I was getting high and i did enjoy the huge flavor advantage over combusting.

DavinciVape1.png

Up'd my game a bit with the Firefly 2 upon its release in 2016 but it wasn't until I purchased an OmniVap in December 2018 that I finally achieved a 100% combustion free lifestyle ... Thanks DV

I bought one of the original Davinci vapes. It looked like a walkie-talkie. But that's where I got my first vaping experiences, and it wasn't long before I stopped smoking completely. Now I own a few Ghost MV-1s, a couple Davinci IQs and an IQ2. I've had others but they've either failed or just got old and I tossed them out. Vaping has been great because it's so much safer (and a lot less pungent :) ).

after 32 years of smoking, and people complaining about the smell, i decided to buy a vaporizer.
1st experience was incredible - you can get high without smoking???
the next day i tried smoking a joint again.
it tasted like a dogs arse.
no, probably worse than that.
have not smoked since.
32 years is a long time to get here, but i'm glad i finally made it.

@IvanChesnokov: Thanks, those are very similar. I actually saw that post about the Tilt a few years ago, I completely forgot about it.

I found this one posted by @psychonaut, it looks nearly identical, I think the base was made of wood and shorter on my friend’s gumball vaporizer but it’s been so long I’m not sure. We never knew the trick with moistening your herb first.

My first vaping experience was with a lightbulb contraption that I built at least 20 yrs ago, after seeing the plans on the internet or somewhere. When I first tried it, I didn't know what the hell I was doing, but I remember a 'minty' taste and getting buzzed. 😁

And for some unknown reason I actually still have the damn thing.

Yep thats the gumball machine/soldering iron style I was trying to describe. Apparently I was using it incorrectly because "beautiful" isn't the way I'd describe the vapor. Nice work finding the pic, I tried earlier and failed.

Anything worth doing, is worth overdoing.
First loved cannabis as a teenager in college some 35 years ago, but then left it for a while. Mostly because of the fears of combusting.

So now I think I've been vaping since 2012. I have to go back and look at the date I got my first med card. But it blew my mind when I first learned about vaping cannabis. It was important for me to keep it legal so I went through the painstaking efforts to build my medical records, get qualified and become a medical user. My main issues are around joint pain, arthritis and the dreaded gout.

For my first vape I did a lot of research on youtube. I don't remember if I came to the FC before or after I started vaping. It's all hazy at best. :thinker:

Anyway, my first vape was the Vapor Bros hands-free whip. I still have it in a closet somewhere. It's a plug-in box vape, and I was sold on that it was one of the safest or healthiest vapes available. I had looked at da Budda and the Silver Surfer but I liked the wood enclosure and the focus on medical grade materials. It worked very well until my VAS first attacked me and I don't regret buying it. If I needed to get more than one person high in a session or could leave vape equipment sitting out, then I might use it again, but it is a bit large and likes to use more herb than what I generally load up.

After that vape I went into the Firefly (which I regret) and then the Lotus which became my DD for 1-2 years. I eventually found my way to the e-nano which was legendary for me for many years and still has a special place in my heart. So many other vapes have come and gone. Lately the dynavap world has struck my fancy along with the wonderful world of induction heaters. I like my little Fury 2 also. Rosin and concentrate vaping is a whole nother story.

edit: Just realized I was off topic. First vape experience not first vape
So it was the Vapor Bros whip and I had bought some lovely herb called Mango from my dispensary. Great flavor and a mellow high. I was sold for life.

A friend introduced me to the Vapor Brothers. Around 2010. I thought it was cool, but didn't get my own vape until a couple years later. Da Buddha in 2012. I also used a MFLB a few times before getting my own vape. I've only been consuming cannabis since 2008, so I've actually spent way more time vaping than smoking!

First vaporizer experience was using a friend's vapor brothers, but I wasn't a huge fan initially because this guy was convinced that schwag vaped better than higher-quality herb. Eventually, though, I got my own crappy ebay box vape, tried it with better stuff, and really became a fan. Six or seven years later, I've got a VaporWarez, MFLB, and MagickWand. Couldn't be happier ;)

I remember the Vapor Warez was a pretty decent box vape, not a bad inexpensive version of the VaporBrothers.

It was pretty solid at the time. I think the glass heater cover unscrewed so it was easy to replace, and that cover had air holes in its base so the airpath didn't touch any electronics. Occasionally I'll be tempted by cheap vapor bros on craigslist, but I always end up passing. Their EZ change whip looks pretty convenient.

It's funny looking back at this now over 10 years later when I don't own any of those vapes anymore. Now the regular rotation is enano (bought in 2014), dynavaps (buying since 2015), and flowerpot (bought just this year). There's been lots more in between, but those are the keepers.

About a year ago I revisited and then became fully re-obsessed with my VaporBrothers. I keep a recently purchased manual version in the living room and an old hands free version that I bought used about 15 years ago in the bedroom. As far as I'm concerned if it had to be only one vaporizer it would probably be a VB. The Warez was pretty good though. The Enano is great, I have one, I haven't used it enough.

Tried a Silver Buddha in 2010 but wasn't really too impressed. A dealer got it free and we were just messing around with it, but burning spliffs at the same time, so couldn't realise a difference. Then got to A'dam in 2013 and felt the real power of a Volcano, even when completely smoked out. That crystal clear high was some other magic. Now always seek them out at coffeeshops ... since then moved on to the Crafty+ and finally landed on Dynavap w/ DIY IH as a DD - microdosing saves weed on an incredible level that I feel so guilty every time I try to smoke again. And DynaVap literally made me take up nicotine vaping instead as couldn't handle cigars but wanted that nicotine synergy. Cannabis vaporisers changed my smoking habits slowly but surely.

Cripes, it took me one year, couple thousand to finally land on Terra Firma. From Grenco to the Old Head Hot Rod finally!
