Double boiler, please. Put ISO and parts in a plastic bag and put that into pot of hot water.
Much less chance of blowing up your house.
Bag in ultrasonic cleaner will work also.

Love that idea, especially the bag because I can seal it, but still agitate it. I cannot tell you how much ISO I have spilled trying to stir things around in the container I use currently.
Can the ISO be left in the Ziploc between cleanings, or will it dissolve the bag?
I don’t like using concentrates in the volcano. I feel like it’s super efficient with flower, but pretty inefficient with concentrates. I prefer to use a pen for concentrates.

I put ISO in a ziploc bag, seal, and microwave in 10-15 second intervals until the alcohol is warmed up. Not looking for boiling, but a nice warm ISO. Then I remove the bag from the microwave, drop in my parts, seal, and give it a bit of agitation.
You'll instantly see the difference between warm alcohol versus room temp!
I snip a corner off the ziploc when done and drain through unbleached coffee filters into a glass major jar. I toss the ISO when it gets too saturated and starts leaving a sticky residue on parts.

Man you guys are ballsy with your heat up methods of iso. Microwave and double boiler on a stove? I just turn on my faucet to the hottest it will go (steaming - will burn your hand easy) and let my closed iso bottle sit with the super hot water running over it and in a couple minutes it's good to go
Also if you buy 99% iso you can cut it with super hot water to say 50-75% and it works wonders, with so much less hassle IMO.

It's just isopropyl, it's not propane. It would be more dangerous to stick a spoon in the microwave.
It will if it starts boiling, it doesn't need to get that hot though, it only needs to be microwaved for a few seconds.
I used to heat a pot of water on the stove then turn it off and float a ziploc bag with ISO in that. Either one works fine. I got the microwave tip from the moderator of r/Waxpen for cleaning atomizer coils.

Adding the reducer and dosing capsule really makes the volcano shine. It reduces some of the harshness of the vapor probably by adding some convection. Much more pleasant now.

The Volcano is all convection (hot air passing through still meds).
The reducer and metal dosing capsule add a small amount of conduction to the mix, by the herb being within a metal shell, as the hot air passes through the meds.... thereby heating the metal capsule as well as the meds.

Exactly! I suspected this would be the case.
I am an asthma sufferer with a high tolerance. The volcano was no use to me without the dosing cap. The chamber is too large and the vapor was too dry. I would need to vape two bags to get the effect I want. But by the middle of the second bag my asthma would be irritated and I could not medicate any further without waiting for my lungs to calm down (20 mins)
With the reducer the vapor is very VERY pleasant, reminding me of the mighty. I can vape 90% of one dosing capsule at 395F in one bag. I get a very good effect. I just finished two bags in a row and I am heading towards the moon.
I want all asthma sufferers to know this setup is one of the best I’ve come across. Certainly the best without water by far.

been years since I've used a volcano. Bags were never my favorite because of how dry the vapor got ,maybe this is a solution ?

I got my easy valve with the new replaceable bags and chamber reducer. The dosing capsules are a lot smaller than I thought, did I miss the part where this is a dose for a mouse? I tried it and unsurprisingly it was able to make one VERY faint small bag, barely enough to get a bit of taste and I started at 430. I suspect this can be because the grind was very coarse so I'll try finer next time.
I then tried it with the regular easy valve chamber with the same coarse grind and it worked great. I was using a coarser grind with the solid valve to help prevent the filter clogging which pushes it up if the screen is worn. Should I go back to a finer grind with the easy valve?
Also, how long does the valve last in the easy valve bags because I got the one with replaceable bags so I will be reusing the same valve when I change bags. In any case it's very cheap for a new valve and replaceable bag.

The valve lasts quite a long time honestly. I've been making new bags for the EZ Valve way before they came out with the new "balloon fixation ring". There are some videos online about making new bags for the EZ Valve system.
Some of the older ones, you can tell leak a slight bit, but not enough for me to throw them away at this point. And that's with fairly heavy use.
I picked up one of the balloon fixation rings, and I'm honestly not sure how it's supposed to be easier than what I was doing before with the standard EZ valve bags. You're still pulling the balloon through, evening it out, and then either snapping it back in, or attaching the ring.

I used one daily for 5 years, though I did have to take it apart and clean it after 5 years.
Here, 4 years later, I am using the same valve, but I clean it once a year now.

I bought the reducer and capsules and tried it once and probably will never use it again. The vapor production was way down, the temp had to go way up, and I dont have the smallest/most gentle fingers so taking them apart is kind of a bitch.
All of that and to be honest I'd never had an issue with using small amounts of flower without the reducer, and I have a solid valve which you can use a dosing capsules worth in straight up with no issues too.
Re: the grind - I've never used a vape that benefited from a coarse grind. I'm sure theres some out there but I have always had more success with a fine grind personally. (Arizers, flowerpot, both valve systems for volcano, xmaxs, vapir, dynavap)
@Vitolo - wow! You win on the most resiny volcano parts I have ever seen. I hope you've been harvesting that stuff! Lots of CBN to be had there!

These pictures are cracking me up. You would think I’m sooo anal! As soon as my bag starts to get a little bit yellow and sticky, I toss it. And I clean my easy valves completely every week. I have two easy valves so that I can vape back to back without having to handle and reload a hot chamber.
PSA: Just in case it was not known, I made the discovery that the mouthpiece and the orange bag holder (not sure what the technical term is) will both melt if left resting on top of the volcanos heating element

Maybe you guys need to get better flower! I get good effects from one dosing capsule but I’m not fighting any chronic pain.
I set my ‘cano digit to max temp and get one bag per capsule. I do have asthma and sensitive lungs and the capsule makes the vapor easier on my lungs.
I’ll post a video of the bag filling up later.

flower quality is certainly not an issue in my case at least.It just comes down to different strokes for different folks! It would seem the capsule/reducer softens the vapor which helps your sensitive lungs.
Side note - the solid valve really doesnt get the love it deserves for microdosing IMO.

I scrape with razor blade and gather...

The results after a couple of weeks of curing.
Ready to go.... vape with herb.... on it's own.... dab.... it is flavorful, and has the essence of a years worth of strains!
Not sure if that is possible.
10 to 15 strains in possession at all times, with top THC certifications (except where CBD presence is preferred)....
Though of low income, my position in life, grants me access to Colorado's, California's, and our own state's (Arizona) best meds. (Hugest return in nation for extracted, and/or pressed bud in concentrate form)...
and flowers that glisten against indoor light with no image enhancements.

Do you find your bags leak quite a bit as they get that old/covered in resin? After a while, I start to notice vapor escaping from the bags, but I can never pin point where the leak is coming from. When the leaks progress to a certain stage, that's when I go ahead and change them.
For some reason, I never considered soaking the bags in ISO. I guess for some reason I assumed it would break the bag down. Good to know about that option for reclaim!
Love that big bag too. Always had a desire to make a 10' bag one time, just to pull out for a laugh every now and then when a big group is over!

No.....
when I am finishing up any bagful of vapor, I hold the "butt end" straight out, and inhale the last drops of vapor feverishly, so the bag remains elongated, and sucked tight.
I then lay the bag down with other bags from bag vaporizers... all terminated the same way... this prevents, creases and stiff edges from forming.
IN FACT... when I make the new bags, I rebuild mouthpieces, with the old cleaned out bags, and use them to give to patients with Volcano units, as free extra bags....
I clean and wash the bags exteriors so they are the same outside as new bags, and they are slightly stained inside, but clean nonetheless....
with no flavor, essences or residues.
I have a list of recipients for cleaned and rebuilt used bags!
A rebuilt harvested, cleaned, and rebuilt bag for community service.
Image above shows the sucked tight, and elongated manner in which I terminate use of each Volcano session. The bag is "reconditioned, but I treat new bags in the same fashion.
