My glass VG top looks similar to a reducer but was obviously made to fit the heat stone, and is shorter than any of my reducers. You have to contact Vaporgenie to get a replacement filter. I can't help you with the last question, sorry. :wave:

This thing definitely works when used properly, though it does take some practice to get a feel for the flame based temperature control. Once you get used to it, it's great for stealth missions.

Only 50 bucks, lifetime warranty. Recommended.

I loved mine for a week then it stopped working it just combusts mainly on one side, dont understand it really any help be helpful XD. But idk i hate the work you have to do and how easy it is too combust and the fact that you use lighters but i mean overall for 50 bucks its a sick piece. hits nice too once you get the technique down.

could it be a clogged screen? I noticed mine build up residue fast. Maybe soot clogging the heat stone?? Not sure what else could cause it off the top of my head.

Yea honestly i think it has to do something with the carbide stone filter but im not sure really i even cleaned the whole thing (even poured boiling water over the filter to remove soot) it seemed to help but it just doesnt work the same as it did when i first got it. I probably will send some pics in or try to contact customer service but soon today my da vinci is coming in the mail so hope that thing is good. id def recommend the genie for 50 bucks its pretty solid piece and i got a 100 sack through it before it started doing that. And im 99.9% sure my lighting technique isnt the problem not sure really what the problem is.

if it worked fine at first and doesn't now, it must be something you did or didn't do. I think jam is probably right about cleaning the screen and/or filter (although you did the filter already). There just isn't much that can go wrong with these things. I get massive hits off them all the time.

You do not ever immerse the stone in water.
You clean it by torching it to glowing then let it cool.
check that the filter is seated all the wa6y at bottom, and that the metal clip is holding it firmly... not wiggle...
then hold the top up to the light to see that there are no gaps visible for flame to sneak by.

yoda...i think there is a boiling water method detailed earlier in this thread...don't remember. but I do remember cleaning my classic with boiling water years ago.

I am super careful about soot because I hate the taste of it. The few times I did get soot on the ceramic, I quickly took the stone out and torched it pretty good, then blew on it a few times to remove dust and put it back in the top. I imagine it will help keep it in good condition if I don't let soot build up.

Thanks for mentioning the stone being properly seated Vitolo. I did not know that needed attention. :tup:

I have an old classic with the fixed stone , the vac and flame method worked wonders in making it soot free. By the way has anyone here mastered the steel bat? it's the only vape in my collection I find
nearlly useless, I Know It must be me but I can't get a decent hit out of it before it burns my Lips and hands. Any tips ? [oven mits make it hard to use the lighter and won't save my lips] Thanx.

if you have some of that silicone tube (whip tube) with a large enough diameter to put some on the bat, that's what I did with my aluminum VG, slid a section of high temp silicone tubing over the body so I have a layer of protection from the heat as it builds up...

only down side is that tubing is a dust magnet, but it cleans up easy.

jam...can you describe your torch lighter technique? I tried it with a torch last night and had no luck. do you point the flame into the bowl or just shoot it over the top?

I point the flame at the stone, but keep it really far up above, so its more of the hot air coming off the flame that is going down into the stone area. It's a fine line, and I have scorched many bowls or had hot spots. Also depends on the strength of your torch. less is more on the torch

In my efforts, I gave up on blue-flame torches, as I couldn't find a decent single flame. They either didn't last or didn't like being used upside down. The only one that seemed to work was a Blue Rhino triple flame, and with that... well, I'd of had as much luck if I held the VG under a Saturn5 rocket at launch. :lol: But I did find a Coliberi Cigar lighter that produces a one-inch horizontal yellow flame that seems like a match made in heaven. I put a pinch in the bowl, screw on the top, shoot the flame across the opening and draw enough to pull the tip of the flame down. I get cloud production that scares the bageebees out of me, sometimes, like "How am I going to exhale all this?" big. :clap:

With the blue-flame, I'd combust maybe 1 in 4 attempts, usually the third or fourth toke on a load. With the yellow flame, I just puff 2-3 times until I get a little vapor (like lighting a cigar), and then draw with the flame maybe another second before shutting off the lighter and continuing to draw another few seconds... hold & exhale. And, say "Ahhhhhh...." and nobody gets burned.

thanks for the link. I just ordered the VG lighter a couple of days ago, so I'll give it a go when it gets here. We have a few of the cheap refillable click lighters here, but none of them work very well for the VG, and I can't see the blue flame in daylight very well if at all, so I have grown to like using yellow flame, it just takes longer to get it going. If the VG lighter doesn't satisfy me, I'll go looking again.

still waiting for the VG lighter, but I did get the black replacement top in today for the aluminum body, so now I have 3 complete VG pipes, coil and the glass gong :D Decided to sell the glass sherlock. It's getting appreciated in it's new home :tup:

are those the hand craved ones Jam? They looks really cool and I think I may hop on one soon. I've been looking for a "gas powered" vape to use at festivals and while camping, This this would do the job well?

Yeah, those are the hand carved. I really love my VGs, just go easy on the heat, and expect a "10 bowl learning curve" there really insn't much to it besides knowing when to stop heating, and not touching the ceramic stone with the flame.
