Greetings, FC! I'd like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Ian and I've been a pretty hardcore vape enthusiast since about 06. The reason why I'm in this specific forum is because I have a very long history with vaporfection.
But first, I'd like to give a little history about myself, the first vape I every tried was a volcano and I was immediately sold and was convinced that THAT would be my first vaporizer. Once I saved enough money, I went to my local headshop (in Boca Raton, as you all well know, is where Vaporfection is located out of), and asked the clerk for a Volcano. He then showed me the vaporfection stealth II and told me this would be better, since they were being sold for the same price, and the clerk was saying how he switched over from Volcano personally. And for someone to tell me that they switched from Volcano to Vaporfection, I thought "Damn, that must be some vaporizer to have that sort of capability."
So I purchased it.
After some experimentation, I finally got into my vape and the vape life in general, but then the light inside the heating chamber went out. Figures. So I called the head shop and told them what was up and he gave me the number to Amir (the old owner). I talked to amir and he invited me to his house and thats where I also met his nephew, Lenny. Amir came off as a dick, but Lenny was very sincere and seemed to know a lot more of the inner workings and how the device worked best. So I got Lenny's information after this experience and stayed in contact with him. I'm in fact still in contact with him to this day, and he ships me whips/mouthpieces/tubing/etc... whenever I call him.
Through keeping contact with Lenny, I found out that he (Lenny) was the originally inventor of Vaporfection, and his uncle, Amir, helped finance the distribution/advertising/etc..., but over time (around 2008) Amir kept trying to screw Lenny over. For example, Lenny had a patent pending on an electronic hookah vape (think extreme q with a 4 hose adapter, but this was 5 years ago), and Amir tried to sell the patent to a larger company, behind his back. Then Amir tried to take full owner ship and rights to Vaporfection, which he ended up doing, but thought he could just duplicate the inner workings of the prototype they were working on (I believe what was once know as the stealth novus (stealth III)) which ended up failing miserably.
I last talked to Lenny about a year ago over that situation, and he told me that Amir sold the company and now he has no involvement anymore either. One thing I can say about the comapny's history is that it is most definitely INCONSISTENT. I, personally, still use my stealth II and consider it a phenomenal unit. I recently tried using it with the SSV GG wand and was completely astounded, but the increase in quality. My belief is that it's because the glass is blown thicker and provides a tighter pinch around the silicone hose, when inserted. I am purchasing a SSV GG Fatty as soon as I get my next paycheck.
Some other fun facts in case you guys are interested: I use my unit at 350 and after a couple puffs, I stir, puff, then increase the temp to 360, and finish the rest of my material. This is how I found to achieve the best results personally. I also noticed that when I use my unit with a water pipe, I use a wand that has a more coarse screen, so there's more airflow, and less restriction on the inhale.
I have practically read this forum from the very beginning so I feel like I have kind of absorbed 2 years of material over the course of the past couple of days. I feel like an idiot that I didn't know about this site sooner. I look forward to sharing pics and comments and I continue to stay in contact with Lenny. I plan on driving down and seeing him in September and have my unit serviced, even though there's nothing particularly wrong with it, I just like seeing whatever it is he's currently working on. He is actually producing a unit called the VapeDrive right now I believe. Basically he gutted the shell of an external usb HD and put the components of a vV2 in there, as far as the heating element and glass structure. I remember him even telling me, "now this is stealth." But he no longer can use the vaporfection name on any of his products, even though he's the original inventor.
Sorry for such a long post, but I just wanted to get as much out there about myself in relation to this vaporfection forum. I'll post pics of my current setup soon.
Cheers!
