Vaporbrothers Dabbler & Eleven Pen

PPN

Volute of Vapor
Hi, Vaporbrothers, I have 2 1st generation glass wick heaters, one is working like new, the 2nd is very used (at least 5g through it!) and the coil is totally black (user error, I put into some very gooey oil made for eating!!!??!) and it starts to lost its structure (like a hole in the middle, some part of the glass wick are missed...), I only use it for reclaim and 2ndbatch.

I'm thinking to get replacement attys but although I'm happy with it my only complain is the too higher position of the wick, so oil leaks on the treading... Do you improves your last heaters and put down the wick?

Thanks

PPN,
Well my Dabbler has cleared customs and may just find its way into my hands this evening  I have a very positive feeling about this product. Reading through the thread I was so impressed by the care , service and passion demonstrated by Vapor Brothers. Not to mention that any vaporizer that @Vitolo approves of is good enough for me . I ordered mine through Vapornation. I had a failed order with them in the past and swore never to order from them again. However, I gave them another chance and it looks like they have come through with flying colours this time  I also have some Nogoo products coming in my order so it seems that tomorrow I am going to need to do a qwet run:science::evil: Good times :D:leaf:

Hi everyone,
I just got a dabbler yesterday and after charging it and testimg it with no wax in it I thought I was ready to go. I loaded it up and twisted it together and the first hit was amazing.. about ten minutes later I went to hit it again, the LED on the pen just blinked three times.
If I take the heater off the battery the button acts as if it would operate fine. I can hold it down and the light stays on and everything. Before I went to bed I found that if I hold the button down, then screw the heater and mouth piece on I could get a hot as long as I held it down before screwing the heater on.
When I woke up this morning even that didnt work. Everytime the heater gets close to the battery it just blinks three times. No heat. Has anyone else had this problem?
Any one have any ideas of ehat could be going on?
thanks

Welcome to Fuckcombustion! That is a total fuckt up battery issue covered by warranty. There's an advance replacement offer link in my signature below. As much as we try to test all and constantly hassle the engineers to keep improving, some units just die and that seems to be the nature of vape pens. They run their components very hard. Part of the cost of Dabbler is to help people like you so feel free to exercise the warranty to the fullest.

I have tried that with some of my concentrates and it worked great, but some of it is too viscous or gooey so I end up having to try and scrape it off along the side while avoiding the coil to get it off without burning everything off the loading tool. Thank you for the advice I will try to focus melting it more.

for this and your previous questions see below thank you.

We learned the hard way that our new metal dabber picks will short the coil if you touch the metal to the heating wire while hitting the button. Don't do... It will be added to the instructions soon. Get our glass dab tool if you want. Search Glass Dabber Tool on Vaporwarehouse.

Getting a sticky dab onto the coil is tricky. Recessing happened on our ceramic core heaters and all Glass tube heaters (both glass & ceramic core). The glass fiber heater remains high. I prefer it being exposed like that although eventually it may be recessed as well. The dab gets wiped on the rim right next to the heater, then rotate the pen around so that the dab hovers above the heat. The glass wick does such a good job at sucking wax from the surrounding area that it doesn't matter as much where you wipe your dab. The ceramic core on the other hand has very little wicking ability so it depends on that improvement from being recessed. Btw, to mention, ceramic heaters come with a hole drilled in the side of the cone to introduce more air and make a better hit.

UPDATE DABBLER 3.0!! Vape Pen has been working on the next version of Dabbler and we want to preview it for Fuckcombustion members. None of this stuff is available yet because ya know... to be Vaporbrothers... it needs to be tested for a nice long while. The nature of new e-cig technology is to fail the first few versions, then gain some reliability once the problems are found and eliminated. Most of these new features have been released in some form in ordinary e-cigs, so that's a start. A ton of custom improvements have been packed into this thing, making it far better than stock. I will refrain from describing the improvements developed by Vape Pen, as he has not authorized us to talk about them. Improvements address reliability, past failures, temp control, feedback to the user, safety of lithium batteries. Everything described below is general knowledge (but with my playful twist).

tumblr_n6exqwjs8x1rzuyr2o5_400.jpg

The new battery uses the basic components of an "EVOD" battery, popularized by Kanger and other companies. We hated it at first but are coming around to like its features.
  • Button does not stick out - You can't feel it in the dark (we hate that) but you can't bust it so easy either.
  • More complicated brain gives feedback to the user through the button's color. Charging and discharge state, etc.
  • Colors is not a rubbery coating that breaks down during cleaning.

tumblr_n6exqwjs8x1rzuyr2o3_400.jpg

The contact is spring mounted, similar to what some e-cig companies are doing.
  • This may or may not remain on the final version.
  • We find these a life saver and troublesome at times.
  • Makes a solid connection despite variances in machining or contaminants leaking onto the contact.

tumblr_n6exqwjs8x1rzuyr2o2_400.jpg

USB port is changed to the Micro USB type, found on LG, Android devices, etc.
  • We think this port will be more common in the future.
  • No cap means no cap to lose!

For now, the current Dabbler battery is still the best we know. It just got updated with more robust electronics and more power. I get a wicked hit. Look for this new one perhaps later in the year or whenever is a good time to transition over.

I was just contemplating the idea of duplicating this airhole on my original dabbler cone as the ceramic cone airflow is sooo much better. Any reason not to do this VB?

@matthend hello. There should be nothing stopping you from drilling a hole, well beside the drill, 1-1.5mm (3/64" - 1/16") drill bit, and a file. After you drill your hole take the file and file down the burrs you created on outside and inside. I have done this to all my cones. It works great, especially if your heater seems to be clogged. Plus you can work it like a carb. You shouldn't get any whistling sound either.

@g14production I meant to get back to you several times but spaced. I can be slow to turn things into a simple answer. Vape Pen does not give us info because the microcircuit adjusts the voltage significantly depending on the heater's resistance... which is influenced by its cold resistance (at room temperature) and its temperature (inconel changes its resistance with temperature). Vape Pen gets uncomfortable when we really look into how the unit works, so we don't really look into how the unit works exactly. From rough testing (which Vape Pen promised is not reliable), we see these voltages: approx.

Dabbler original battery = 3.2v
Dabbler 2.0 (currently sold) = 3.7-3.8v
Dabbler 3.0 (future) = 3.8v

Just more fyi for everybody: These voltages are only what we measure ourselves with a dabbler heater. Other brands, especially anything outside of a 1.9-2.6 ohm range will either overdrive the battery or fail to heat the coil. This is IMO, not official info from Vape Pen. He checks failed batteries because he is constantly trying to chase down the causes of failure, or detect misuse. Dabbler warranty is supposed to be void if other brand parts are used- sometimes he can tell so be careful.

Well my dabbler arrived today so here is a first impression:

Well done. Classy looking device that definitely functions as intended. Clean design with a nice weight and feel to it. Hits well also. I need some more time with it but so far I would recommend it. I don't see the dabbler replacing my rig anytime soon but as something easily accesible and portable it definitely fits the bill. No regrets. Thanks @mephisto and @vaporbrothers !

I just ordered the Dabbler and bought an extra piece, the 3 in 1 Glass Wick Heater. Thought maybe I will need it further down the line. Don't know much about oil/wax pens. Just got access to oils for the first time. I thought I should have ordered an extra battery also after I sent the order in.

Does the battery last a while, far as wear and tear? Should it be good for say 3 or 4 months? Does it generally come with a case? It didn't show one on the site at Vaporwearhouse. Other times I have seen that it comes together as a kit, I didn't see that. The pen was $99. Then bought the extra heater too.

I was so excited I got 1 to 2 days shipping. I will continue to educate myself by finishing reading through the thread so I won't continue to ask questions that have been answered over and over.

I love waiting for a new vape. It's Christmas!

I have been trying out the Dabbler I received it yesterday. It's seems good as a first vape pen it is easy to use. Bought some AK47 BHO wax that I'm using. It's not as flavorful as vaping flowers, it does pack quite the punch. It really has helped with the pain today

I have read through most of the thread which also makes it easier to use. Thanks Vitolo for suggesting this as a first vape pen. I need to put on my reading glasses to be able to see well enough to put the wax on the coil.

I wasn't interested in anything with a steep learning curve. This will work out for my needs and doesn't cost a fortune. I really like how it charges using the USB port.

It has taken me a little while to get around to commenting on my Dabbler. However, I have had my Dabbler for almost 2 weeks now and I must say that I am very happy with it. As I think I have mentioned previously I am fairly new to concentrates and I am not experienced in dabbing. I really like how easy the Dabbler is to use. Since fucking combustion in January 2013, I have undergone a very steep learning curve (as have most of us at some point :) I really don’t want to go through another one to be able to use a concentrates pen. As such the Dabbler suits me perfectly. For the past week or so it has become my go to portable and I must say it is very convenient and easy to deal with. The case makes it very easy to take around and I am either pre-filling or taking a toothpick and a Nogoo container with me in my bag. Very nice. I am still playing with it and learning. There always seems to be something left on the bottom if you want an extra hit too :) As others have said I really like size of the Dabbler as well and it looks stylish. For anyone considering a Dabbler I would definitely recommend it.

After living with my dabbler fow some time now I can honestly say that I love it. It hasn't replaced a nail and torch for me but in situations where that approach isn't feasible the dabbler performs admirably. I feel like I can get decently medicated while using small amounts as well. Definite bonus.

I do have a question though: for those of you using the dabbler with batteries that aren't stock, what do you recommend. I understand that this is discouraged by the manufacturer, but I am interested in some feedback from users. Thanks!

Hello vapor brothers,
I bought a dabbler three weeks ago and so far I have loved it. The hits are clean and fat. I have cleaned it so far a couple times using Vitolo's method and I have always been able to use it after cleaning. Yesterday after a morning full of use I tried to use it and the coil would not heat up. I have no idea what happened but I took it out of the case and it did not work, I have taken very good care of her. I'm not sure what happened to it but I was very happy with my dabbler up to this point.

I ended up ordering the new 3 in 1 ceramic cartridge, can't wait to get back at it ;)

Thanks for all your reviews and tips Vitolo! (As well as vb and everyone on FC) you helped me make the right pen choice, and up to this point maintain it properly.
Thanks

Still loving my dabbler to no end, but curious about something. How many of you adhere to the "Dabbler Theorem of Verticality"? I am always trying to keep my dabbler as close to vertical as I possibly can to avoid loss from just heating up and falling to the bottom. Is this built up in my head, or is it really something i should be conscious of?

What is the max voltage that could be ran through the Dabbler brand ceramic atomizer? Also what about the regular atomizer?

Seems to me there ins't any retailer for the Dabbler in Europe anymore.
Maybe lacentralevapeur still has some unit but their prices are a bit high.

Hi all,
I have a Dabbler and unfortunately I'm back at smoking cigarettes.
I'd like to buy an ecig, could I use the dabbler's battery and save me buying a new battery for ecig?
IIRC it is a 510-something battery type. Which ecig should I get to be compatible with it?
Thanks.

I killed my Dabbler battery using an ecig tank. Do not recommend/10.
