Thanks again to TheRealVaporBlunt for giving me the opprotunity to demo this new vape! I hadn't even heard of it 4 days ago, and now I have one! How cool!
Before you read my review, please note that I currently like this vape a lot, however that was far from my inital impression. With that said, read on!
THCMuscle's initial review of the VaporBLUNT
Unboxing: The exterior packaging is very flashy and cool looking, and the box is sturdy, definitely something nice to keep the unit in. The inside packaging is very nicely layed out and basic. As someone mentioned earlier the tools look very silimar to the No2 (hmm...). There is a small instruction manual that covers all the functions as well as screen removal and cleaning. There are very high quality 3d graphics of the vape in all angles, it gives the impression of time and money spent on this product. My unit included a small DC charger for the Li-on battery, with a plug seen on many chargers. I was strongly urged to only use the included charger and I am very aware of the importance of charger specificty with li-on batterys, you can ruin a battery with a wrong charger. My unit came with one standard (white) mouthpiece-tip and one Mint flavored (transparent). I initally thought I wouldn't use the flavored tip at all, but I found it to be a cool addition to the experience. Though my flavored tip kept falling out. My plain tip fit very snugly and nicely.
The VaporBLUNT itself:
The unit is indeed bigger than you would think from pictures, but its actually quite pleasing to hold, and the notch cut out in the unit feels nice. There is only one button on the unit. All its functions are accesed though it. One press turns the unit on, a green light will begin flashing while it heats, and the light will go solid green to signify it has reached standard temp which according to the manual is 390F. One more press of the button will bring the unit into boost mode which according to the manual is 410F. A press and hold of the button in either of these modes turns the unit off. While the unit is charging the button flashes blue, and solid blue is charged. While in use the button will flash red when its at low battery. I think this multi color diode use is pretty cool. The plastic or polycarbonate exterior seems very high quality. The end cap seals very cleanly and the threads are very smooth. The stir knob turns effortlessly for only being a plastic bearing. At the base of the stirring pick is the top screen, and there is a screen instert for the bottom of the chamber. It is very similar to the Vapir No2 in that sense, though these are small formed pieces of aluminum with very small holes instead of woven screens. A small click turn of the mouthpiece opens the top of the unit to show the begining of the vapor path, as well as the Li-on battery. The Li-on battery uses a connector I've seen from radio controlled models, I forget the name. Its not proprietary, though I would advise a high level of care and research to anyone messing around with different batteries. When I first saw how the mouth piece seals around the vapor hole I was a bit concerned, but after having used the unit and seeing how much the vapor has cooled at that point in the unit, and feeling how tightly it seals on I am not too worried about it. I dont forsee any vapor residue building up that high in the unit. TheRealVaporBlunt said a typical pipecleaner can be used to clean the entire vaporpath from this hole to the herb chamber. I am not sure if you can use the unit while plugged in, because of this I have not tried yet.
VaporBLUNT Vapor experience:
My past vaporizers have been 3 MFLB's and an No2 that I used heavily over a year and a half. I've also used a handfull of whip vapes. Since the VaporBLUNT bares so much functional similarity to the Vapir No2 (silcion airpath, Li-on battery, almost identical herb chamber, tools, etc) I had the initial tendancy to use the VaporBLUNT as I would my old No2. After much frustration I found this was not the thing to do, I should have tried this vape with a totally different mindset. Infact I almost wish the manufacutres would reccommend using it as follows.
I was instructed by TheRealVaporBlunt that for big vaporhits I should pack the bowl heavily. Before a real run, I power the unit up to boost more for a small burn out period, and also hit the unit empty to see if there was any detectable plastic taste. There was little to none, the normal expected taste of air flowing over silicone, but no taste or sense of any heated plastic what so ever. I packed a nicely fully chamber without pushing it down to occomodate more. I powered it up on standard, the light went green in about a minute as the manual said, but the manual also said to allow for another minute or so for the herb to completely heat up. I gave it 3 minutes from button press before hitting. The taste was very nice. VERY Nice. Very rich herb taste, as nice or nicer than my MFLB provides. Though there was no visible vapor at all. I had taken a medium rate hit as I would my No2. I continuted to try various flow rates, with little no success at producing any kind of satisfting vapor. Hardly even anything visible under a lamp. Occasionally if I let the unit sit for a while, the first hit would provide a mildly decent vapor hit. I was feeling the effect, but no vapor. I had 4 more chambers... I was flyin' but still not much vapor. The temperatures supplied in the manual seemed so off it was surreal. Boost seemed like 345 on my No2. I was beginning to get disapointed. I then had the idea to try to hit the unit like you would, well... a BLUNT! A slow rich pull into the mouth alone, then a swift steady inhale of that hit into the lungs. This produced beautiful vapor! Great taste as well. Very satisfying. This hitting style was totally different to me. Its obvious the unit requires a very slow flow rate similar to the MFLB, but when you accomplish this through a cigarette/blunt style hit its very statisfying and the vapor is very dense. Even a lightly filled bowl (.2g) produces satisftying vapor, but a very densly filled bowl (.5g) produces that satisftying air restriction drag you would get from a blunt, and this is especially nice when you hit it as I just explained. The vapor gets even more dense. More than my No2 could, but in smaller dose quantity.
All in all when you use the VaporBLUNT as I described above it provides a very staisftying vapor experience, different from other vapes I've had. It was enjoyable to be taking many, many, many, many hits in short peiord of time. Im not even entirely sure if the designers had this in mind, but it works extremely well! I even like the flavored tips with this technique. The vaporblunt would make a great piece to pass around a small group of people for some hefty safistying vapor hits, even better for just 2 people to share. The unit can be consealed and transported easily. I look forward to using this on hikes. It will be a staple in my gym bag for pre-steamroom use
I wont reccommend anyone any product this early on, but I have a feeling I will be after more use. I will try to get some vapor videos for you in the next few days, stay tuned. If you guys have any questions post them up! I will be sure to have a follow up review in a few weeks.
