RIP
EDIT @Morty: It took me some experience to master the vapocane in order to get great results. As I said before, I shelfed it for some months after playing with it again.

I find it a bit weird that this vape is getting so little attention. Is it because it is mainly sold in Europe? Is it too cheap for other people? Or already too old? Given the amount of feedback other butane devices are getting (e.g. Sticky Brick), I wonder why nobody seems to bother with this one. I tweaked my little perculator bong to have the vapocane residing a bit farther from my face (maybe I will post some pics) and it blows me away each time I use it, both regarding taste and effect. My only complaint is that I can use too little herb (I love comparing strains) or otherwise I get fucked up completely: 0.05g = ~2 rips last me almost an entire evening.

I stopped using the vapocane because of its fragility and because they cracked with little use :hmm:... I also noticed a lot of consumption of butane gas :bang: and especially the main reason why I stopped using it is -> how annoying it was be the noise of the torch in my living room :goon:(watching tv and etc ...) almost as irritating as my volcano when filling balloons .. too is easy danger to fire :nope:...

There is a lot of issues with the Vapocane even if I like it:

- fragility=not really portable
- direct inhalation method (similar to daisy/sticky bricks/dreamwood) never gave me the purest taste, it seems slightly polluted by unburned gas (yes there is always a small amount... at least in my experience using several lighters and gas brands)
- indirect inhalation cost a ton of gas but taste like heaven!
- need a glove or a cool down time to handle the glass to stir the load, personnaly I handle the glass using a small piece of silicone tubing.
- need another glass piece to be used (with water or dry)

It's surprising most of the oldest vapes comes from the old continent, just realized this fact (S&B, MiniVap,Vaponic,Vapocane, Herborizer,...)!!

Edit: I personnaly don't use it but the bowl part is used with my "Project" by Pipes!

OK, I can see the thing with the
- fragility (it is cheap however, and I stocked up 3 vapocanes ;), you can get 2 for 40€ here, including shipping). I store it in the vaponic's marker and I have not broken one yet myself (knocks on wood), not counting one that cracked in the 2nd session but was replaced for free by the vendor.
- I do not really care about the butane (I keep 6 cans of colibri gas in my basement cupboard), and I seem to need only 400ml bottle every 4 months.
- I described my technique (indirect method) some posts up and it gives me almost instant vapor (~10-20secs preheating) using the direct method (and the big ass torch). I do not fancy the direct method either, I can taste stuff that is not supposed there either and has kept me from buying a vape of the sticky brick variety. However, I usually finish the load off that way to make sure everything is extracted completely.
- For handling, I simply use the silicone end thing from the vaponic marker. I usually prepare a spare 14mm glass reducer to store the top part afterwards (to check the AVB).
- I bought a very cheap minibong on dhgate that takes not much place in the cupboard.

I have to admit though, that I am probably the type of guy that
a) loves simple things (I am a scientist and have to deal with complex stuff and software all day) and
b) values taste and ritual over convenience and I love to prepare and clean my glass stuff before vaping in the evenings (using a fixed ritual, that probably also keeps me from breaking stuff easily). And I have tried a couple of other fancier (and way more expensive) vapes but none matches the vapocane in taste and bang or the vaponic in taste and arm chair relaxation (plus playing with fire). To allow for a stupid analogy: I prefer a good knife and stove over things like a Thermomix anytime.

And I wonder why few people seem to use it (same with the vaponic, at least on FC).

Yes Europe can rock (if it wants).

Can you elaborate on your project please?

EDIT: yes, I had one cracking too, but within the first week and it got replaced without issues. As I can still use it, I now consider it additional backup.

Come on VapCap is no match for the Vapocane in taste and bang (yes, I have 3 vapcaps: Omnivap, Ti-woody-S and an M, and I am put off by the taste of heated metal) and you can buy 8-9 vapocanes for the price of an Omnivap. I agree that I would not bring the cane to a party ;).

Finally, OK, I see how people are different: I never do anything else during vaping with the vapocane but focusing on the process - plus I love the big flames.

I have given many opportunities to the vapocane, also buy 3 and many torches that have died ....

I have spent enough money to stop being cheap in a long time ... I am European and I buy vaporizers from all over the world and each one has its right place in my life (I have one from Switzerland who is the king of stealth vapes another Spanish who is the king in flavor and more than I have different places in the world) I can not compare the purity of the vaponic with that of the vapocane, leaving aside the slight risk of ingestion of gas by deposition or stoning (I only use indirect mode) but I mean that the vapocane can only be used with bong or bubbler losing flavor along the way .... I share with you that other vapes are of better quality than others of greater demand ... I got the GAS and love the glass with the vapocane but this vaporizer did not find a place in my life, as I said before-> it is not practical! an example would be dealing with a torch-type flame, heating noise, need for a glass, unfriendly with domestic animals ...

but believe me I like the vapocane:tup:

OK, it is probably me. I guess it also wouldn't have suited me in my 20s due to the more chaotic nature during that period. Nowadays I am really looking forward to my little ritual: after bringing the kids to bed and cleaning the kitchen, I prepare my 'cane, sit down and rip away.
Here is a pic of my current setup:

wp8vZ0C.jpg

With the 45° angle I don't have the big flame directly in my face and I can see the vapor rushing through the connector, which is pretty cool for gauging the temperature.
I usually place the cane gun thing next to the bong and then use the silicone part of the vaponic's case to place the vapocane top part into the reducer in the box (to cool down or to stir if needed). I also keep the top part stored in the fake marker case.

EDIT: and I am using the lower part of the reducer for the cane gun instead of the vapocane's offical thing because the steel screen placement is a bit more easy.

Shoutout to Solwe: After my vapocane cracked at the lower part, I took a pic and sent it to the retailer in order to get a new one as they have a 2 years warranty. He told me, however, that the producer said this was user error (no, it wasn't!). Thinking that it was Solwe, I wrote a somewhat harsh email to Solwe complaining about their business practices. It turned out that the Vapocane is co-produced by Solwe and NearDark and that the retailer had bought it from the latter (confirmed by the retailer). I felt sorry and wrote to Solwe excusing myself for the wrong accusations, but instead of kicking me in the ass, Daniel from Solwe simply sent me a new tip - and on top reminded me of my 20€ voucher (see post in the Vaponic thread), that I also cached in.

This is how you keep customers happy!!

I also started playing with the direct heat method and finally got the technique down. The crucial thing to do is not to use a big-ass torch but a cheap single-flame lighter and play around with the flame length. The taste is slightly inferior to the indirect heat, but you instantly get dense convection hits and save a lot of butane - and it kicks you in the teeth. It is perfect for micro-dosing, too, as the Vapocane works best with loads < 0.1g (larger amounts need stirring).

... And I present the Titanium vapocane tip:
why73k.jpg

It is a cheap 14mm titanium nail (8€ on ebay, shipped from China). I had to push a larger flexible screen into the glass sphere, where the bowl is now. It has zero draw restriction and works best by just hovering a medium sized flame (on large torch, though) over the intake hole. The cool thing is, that with larger loads, you can use a wood stick and stir with the tip in place.

Hi Schroedinger, sorry for reviving an old thread but, does the titanium nail work heating it up before inhaling, or does it only work with the direct heat method?

I've tried this concept ,it works indirect too, but i am not a big fan of torching titanium + it cracked a few adapters probably cause the metal joint expands a bit :). Also i have to inhale slowly for things to work. It doesnt handles well increased draw, probably if it had some of those rings above the joint all the way up to the tip, would have been a different story.

Thanks Abysmal Vapor, good to know. I may still get one of those in case my original tip breaks and I have to wait for another vapocane to be delivered. I don't really like the direct method but it's still better than combustion, and it's my only vape so I need some kind of backup.

Hey peeps,

The Vapocane was my main vape 2012-2013. Recently I got one again, boy it sure brings back memories.

Like others have commented direct heating is faster, cheaper and easier but nothing compares to the VP using retained heat. Like others, I crack tips every so often.

I contacted Solwe asking about buying a bunch of spare tips instead of entire kits. The kits are fairly priced IMO, but it irks me to buy stuff I don’t need and throw it away.

I got a positive response from the ‘Vapocane team’! They didn’t create a new part number, we worked around that somehow, and today I got a parcel with 6 spares for a very reasonable price. The icing on the top was a friendly handwitten note from Daniel.

Factoring the cost of weed (and butane.... LOL), the purity, flavor and efficiency I’m willing to invest in replacement tips, as long as the lovely Vapocane Team is willing to humor me. Daniel, if you’re reading me, thanks for taking such good care of me.

The Vapocane is funny of kit isn’t it? The hardcore vape for lunatics such as myself.

I won’t go into details, I suggest that you contact Solwe yourselves if you’re in the same position, they’re good people.

Cheers.

I think the Vapcap (I have the Omni Ti) is comparable with the Vaponic, but neither can touch the Vapocane.

The only vaporizer that I know of that comes close is the Lotus. It’s much more practical and tastes nice but not as nice as the Vapocane. The business end of the Lotus (the head) won’t last forever either - I burned one already. It lasted longer but also cost much more.

The Vapocane is the only vape that lets me take huge rips without water filtration or uncontrolled coughing fits. The shorter vapor path translates to minimal loss of plant goodness.

I use and love the Vapocane, Lotus and Vapcap for different reasons.

Lately I’ve been heating starting from the upper lip of the GonG reducer and up the entire tip from bottom to top.

This way the entire air path is heated, so vaping starts very early. I find that I can keep the torch down and away from the tip without inhaling butane, again reducing warm up time.

Vaping doesn’t start in my experience until the vaping chamber heats up, so applying direct heat is very energy efficient. Just don’t overdo it LOL

If anyone wants to ask Solwe about something, don't contact them on their Facebook page, seems a bit forgotten, but they are really responsive and helpful on their website via e mail.

Edit:They've answered me on FB ,too after a day so not that bad :)

I’m working on my technique to prolong the life of the tips, and it’s working great.

I’ve noticed I was cracking tips when heating up and when inhaling, and the cracks were always in the bulbous area above the joint.

The solution in my case is introducing heat gradually, applying heat from the upper lip of the reducer and up and keeping a small flame on the area prone to trouble while inhaling.

Today the full pipe with the reducer and tip dropped on a stone floor from about 20cm. The pipe is fine, the reducer broke and there’s not a mark on the tip, I’ve used it since.

So, to follow up -

I haven’t cracked a tip since!

The reducers don’t take well to heat and have to be replaced once every few weeks of daily use. They’re cheap and easily available so no biggy.

Today I heated the bottom part of the tip that fits inside the reducer. The ground glass was dirty so I burnt the residues off and proceeded to take a hit.

Wow Wow!

It’s the same principle - make sure the entire air path is hot - but this time you apply (moderate mounts of) direct heat to the bottom end of the tip just above the herbs. The best hit I ever took, and from a tiny amount. The AVB was a gorgeous uniform brown.

You’re very encouraged to try.

I have a nice thick silicone “finger” I that I cut from a glove I bought in a kitchen appliance store. I use it to handle the tip and recently I took to using it to cover the tip after use. The tip cools off much slower this way, I think this might also help to extend its life.

I find that this simple setup really encourages experimentation. With all other butane vapes that I know, e.g. the Lotus, Vapcap, Vapman, Vaponic etc., you have to heat them in a very certain way.

Dear 'cane users,

I received the Vapocane yesterday, bought it online from a little Dutch headshop. After cleaning I tried it for the first time. First impression expressed in one word: BOOM! What a hard hitting vape with a little amount of herb. I need to practice with the heating technique, but it seems to hit harder than the Dreamwood Dobby (similar to the Trillhouse Lily I believe).

The next couple of days I'll experiment with the direct heating method and share my impressions with you. I was wondering if you could share your tips on how to achieve the best tasting hits with the direct heating method. I use a Vapman single flame lighter.

@Dutch-Mic Hey bro ! The method that you are heating the glass tube i think counts as the indirect one. Anyway ,the idea is to move the torch from top to bottom from all sides.Even heating is the key. It is very hard to overheat it with vapman lighter,so make sure you take your time, give it at least 30-45 seconds of torching.
