Vapman

@lazylathe Great to read that you already got the hang of Vapman. Saying that you are a flavor guy, I recommend to take the first draw already after the first few seconds of heating, at this point you get all the delicate flavors which are gone at higher temperatures. The gold coated herb chamber, the very short vapor path together with the individual heating technique, makes VM an ideal tool for flavor chasers.
Well possible, that you will remove the toothpicks again?

Keep also in mind, that the flame size is equal important as the duration of heating, with a large flame, 4 seconds can already be too much. You will find you personal signature with VM, it is a very personal vaporizer.

VM seems not to be discrete at all but you would be surprised how easy it is to hide VM in a surrounding with a certain noise level. I regularly use my VM in trains, buses, parks, beaches, (church only when the churchgoers are singing:lol:)!

Change of topic. I am still dazzled about the impact and effect of the SS washer, it is not really a washer anymore, washers are rather flat, is that correct?
Anyway, I made a new ring with steeper angles making it even smaller and lighter, it weighs only 0.17gr. and is therefore not absorbing much energy. Here it is:

After 5 bowls of herbs, there are still no traces of discoloring on the wood. I am leaning out of the window now but I think this tiny ring is a game changer, charred middle section is the past!

I will keep you posted on this one, I really wonder how the wood will look after 100 bowls?

I wish you all a good day!:)

I volunteer to do the 100 bowl test! Hahaha

Great work René!

You really do need to control the heat (flame size, time, rhythm) not pour it on and suck like mad like in blazing where you want the temperature to get as hot as possible basically.

This is very true when using the vapman with a bubbler. The flame of my torch seems to get a tad longer, and therefore hotter, when I invert it (maybe 3-5mm) so be sure to exercise caution when using this method. That being said I can consistently get two hit, total extraction.

I simply bring the crucible up to temperature by heating it before inhaling, then I begin my inhale and continue to intermittently heat the crucible based on the density of the vapor I see in my bubbler. Typically I am still heating until I see some rogue vapor wisps but not always. These are some killer rips we're talking about here! :ko::rockon:

Although I've never used a lotus I can see it's advantages when used with a WPA. Depending on the style of mouthpiece on your bubbler it can be very difficult to accurately torch just the tip of the crucible. It is important to heat just the tip of the gold cone in order to evenly vape a trench--using the vapman with a bubbler is the only time I have ever witnessed a truly uneven extraction and this was due solely to the more aggressive heating style and the new learning curve of using the vapman in a similar manner to the lotus! Now that this method is familiar to me my extractions are perfectly even, and thorough, every time. I have yet to combust using the vapman this way and at this point would be surprised if I did.

Thanks for the love @Gourmet! Glad you found the vids useful, hopefully others do too. I have to fight myself from making vapman videos all the time...it's truly fun too use.

Now, with water...I honestly like bringing my vapman to temp first and then dropping it in the 14mm connection, it seems to save the wood undue stress (but then again I baby the vm more than the mighty...go figure ) and I like leaving the staw (?) on while it's in the water pipe. Seems to keep the vm more centered.

@KennyPowers we could definitely use the celebrity endorsement "your fucking out!"
Maybe a mention in your self help audio book too! Lol

Vapman does have some nice advantages, especially on the road.
You can double fist with a vapman in one hand and a beer in the other, just need my assistant to prep the bowl. Don't worry guys I'm a pro at steering with my knee.

I've been dead sober since I joined this board and I need to pull the trigger and buy something so yeah.
Lotus you're fucking out.
Vapman you're fucking in.

What lighter should I get?

Since a few posts previous compared Vapman and Lotus, I'd just like to add that there's a place for both. A Lotus and the WPA? Unbeatable vapor-thru-water experience. The Vapman when you're technique down and mouthpiece wide-open? Infinitely-lasting and incredibly potent.

They both have their niches, their advantages and disadvantages. The Lotus will go down in mistory (geddit? GEDDIT?) as the King Bong of this generation of vapes, a true bong-smoker converter. The Vapman will go down in mistory (seriously, you guys geddit, right?) as The Cannaseur, a vape that requires a bond with its owner to be wielded, an experience to be savored and nurtured.

What I'm really getting at is: Conduction vs Convection/materials used/form factor/signature/aesthetic - they're all different and contribute to different vape experiences. Get cozy with both sometime and broaden your Torch-izons. :D

But definitely get you a Vapman torch to use with either. Thing is A MACHINE!

Another vote for the vapman torch. It feels nice in the hand, holds a decent amount of fuel and is reliable. It basically free if you get a package deal.

I like both my lotus and vapman. They complement each other well but I use the vapman a lot more. I guess it depends on what your needs are and what you want out of a vape.

I can have a nice long session starting out with lots of low temp flavour and slowly build to full temp. Or I can start aggressively and do enough heat cycles to see vapor leaking out before I hit it and finish the bowl in 2 or 3 hits.

I gave my vapman an annual service the other day. I took off the filter .. wow loads of gunk on the back. Cleaned that up in iso. I steel wooled any charred wood on the middle section and oiled up the wood a little. A happy vapman.

You know the vapmans great because ive bought a couple of new vapes recently and it makes me love the vapman more!! That doesnt happen very often.

Almost there...
After a weeks use my Vapman was getting a little dark around the screen.
Unscrewed the screen and saw that the wood was a bit darker under the screen.
Decided it was time to mod!!!

Sanded the base down a bit, bent a 0,9mm stainless steel wire into a circle that fit perfectly inside the screen.
Put it all back together and testing time!
Bowls seem to last a few hits longer and heat up time is slightly increased.
Flavor is still very good and clouds are pretty good as well! Remember i am using the screen inside the bowl which increases warm up time as well.
So far so good!
I will test the SS ring for a week and open it up and see what the wood looks like.

On another note, i am finding i need to chain hit my Vapman to get medicated.
Been using my Supreme lately which is my strongest and most thorough extraction device i own.
Think the small Vapman bowls battle to hit my tolerance now.
This is not a bad thing as once the Vapman is nice and warm, it really can pump out vapor!

It is like a Swiss watch that you can disassemble to see how it works and put it all back together with ease! It is just a cool vape to own and use!

How efficient is the vapman as a portable vape compared to the Solo? I wonder which hits harder.

I have a torch for dabbing but I also have some small dual small flame ones from my joint smoking days, so I could use those.

Not sure about the solo

A dual torch flame is no good with vapman you need the very tip of the flame to touch the apex of the bowl.

Vapmans bowl is roughly 1/3 of the crafty. (Im assuming crafty and mighty are the same?)

I use a 'pinch' spoon for the vapman weighs about 0.05. It normally takes about 3 of them to fill a mighty but you can pack/tamp more if you wish into a mighty. You cant really tamp the vm bowl
