I think crucible is a great word.

Neat sounding word for sure, but technically inaccurate.
It's simply not a crucible by the conventional definition:

We have neither chemical reactions nor 'extremely high heat' going on. And, IMO, the secondary definition, 'an extremely difficult experience' is way way wide of the mark?
We're cooking herb here, I'd suggest a name from the kitchen not a foundry or Material Science lab. Any more than I'd call a tea kettle a boiler (which is, I think, closer).
