Well, with two of you saying basically the same thing. . . that answers that VAS question. . . . . ha!I have a lotus as well..when i got the hang of the vapman..the lotus went in the drawer...it is still there collecting dust.
Could it be that the Horn of Gondor is really a Swiss Alphorn?
I've been wanting to put my two cents into the grinder/shredder/crusher/mulcher/etc debate. Can someone please tell me the difference between a grinder and a shredder?
And what is @vapman 's opinion on the grind?
^^^Oh my goodness this made me laugh!Only difference is..... I don't feel like I need to own 10 hammers with exotic wood handles
I'm not sure, and @NorVape can enlighten me, but can you buy an extra middle piece and mouthpiece only? Then you can just remove the screens and use the herb-only middle section for that?@VegNVape I'm trying to imagine just how beautiful a saw handle one must have in order to saw the rough blanks to make those cocobolo handled saw handles. Or were those just handed down from the heavens?
Darn it, I had a relevant comment to steer this conversation in a new direction. . . . . .oh yes, it was about keeping a second Vapman for concentrates and using it alongside a log vape.
It was very nice this morning to wake up to a Vapman still loaded with more hash oil than I thought was in it. I could tell when I turned the handle that everything was sticky inside, so I just closed it back up and started hitting it. It was especially nice to have it ready to go since I woke up in a fair amount of pain.
But the main point is that I realized that the cleaning/maintenance is different enough for concentrates that having one unit just sitting aside all sticky with goo and another clean and dry for flowers is going to make life easier for me by simplifying my cleaning and maintenance.
After two or three loads of concentrates, the Vapman is left with some deposits of dark oil that starts to taste a bit funky. I just used a bit of organic cotton to wipe down the surfaces and tossed it into an E-Nano stem to finish off that thick dark oil for good. I never was a big fan of reclaim, but that was before I had an E-Nano that made it simple and worthwhile.
I have been using two screens on the bottom with a third screen on top of the oil. This seems to be about right to hold the amount of oil I'm using at one time.
Now that the sun is out, I'll have to go outside and see if I can get a nice photo of the new Vapman.
Hmmmm....heres one for you then...I'm so fly i jumped out the air wearing Gucci, I'm raw taking California Rolls, smoking California Weed with California hoes....Ok then, I've decided that my grind experiment will be with a 3-piece Santa Cruz Shredder. I'm hoping this will achieve the "fine grind interspersed with odd sized chunks" that Chippy Malone touts. The deeper and perhaps more powerful reason I bought the SCS is because back in the days when I lived on a skateboard, my favorite deck was a Santa Cruz, and the typeface of its logo looked much like the Shredder's does. No coincidence, I imagine.
Plus I'm a sucker for Californian references, period.
he is more worried about the dark hard wax build up that happens below the screens. usually when that happens i run a few loads of flower in there with a little extra heat to finish it off and then wipe the vapman down...u can scrape it up and finish it in a pen or something.I'm not sure, and @NorVape can enlighten me, but can you buy an extra middle piece and mouthpiece only? Then you can just remove the screens and use the herb-only middle section for that?
Meaning, you swith only the mouthpiece from the body instead having to use two full Vapmans?
Although, you can never have too many Vapmans... Too many are never enough!
haha
Awesome video, @vapmanjoe! Wow. Thanks for sharing!I would like to share some Vapeporn with you. I love sharing ideas and individual techniques with the vapman. Some pages earlier some of you inspired me to use my Vapman with my Herborizer Bubbler . I wrapped a mflb glass mouthpiece with some tissue for adapting both. After some learning sessions i squeeze this beast with some milky and nice tasting hits. I'm not shy with heat and tend to push it too hard sometimes - like in this Vid - almost near combustion , the last two heatings were probably to much but it tasted not burned. Now i use this combination almost everytime i vape at home - i like the visual control.
I wish you all a happy day!

It's a bit of a pain because when you remove the screws the tubes have no support so you have to be very careful not to put any pressure on them so the chamfer that holds them to the bowl doesn't get loose.@M0J0 as someone who does it regularly, would you say, it's a risky process to remove the screws of the bowl and put it all back together after sanding the charred portions of the ring?
What are you trying to do? You may not have to remove them...
@vapmanjoe I watched your video with the Herbarizer water filter, this is really a cool set up I must say. May I point out a small detail which jumped my eye? When you are heating vapman with the jet-flame at the beginning of the session, you are holding the flame quite a long way from the bowl. I suggest to go closer to the bowl with the flame, it is most ideal to touch the apex of the bowl with the tip of the light blue (inner) flame. This way the heat gets transmitted in the most possible focused and efficient way to the bowl with less heating up of the surrounding. This is especially important when using the basic versions vapman with no heat shields. Besides this, the heating process becomes more controllable and regular, this is helpful when using a vaporizer without temperature control.
You probably know that famous painting from Michelangelo (the creation of Adam) with the two index fingers almost touching each other.- These are the apex of the bowl and the inner tip of the flame (the creation of a good session) I can`t help thinking about this painting in this particular context.
vapman
given to the wood structure, i guess, the charring became a little relief-like on the inner side of the ring around the gold portion. so i thought i'd want to smooth it down at some point in the future. but there probably is no need to take the vapman appart for this purpose.
@axakal, you can use #600 sand paper to gently sand inside the wooden body's bowl, but be careful not to sand the tips of the tubes and the aluminum clamps.I would really hesitate to try to clean up or smooth down the charred surface, as I suspect that with proper use, it will char to a certain degree and then remain steady with a charred layer of some regular thickness. Smoothing it down would probably just initiate the charring process all over again. And you'd be left with a Vapman with less wood where there should be wood.
I've realized since getting my second unit with the heat shield, that I'm more confident using that one because I can be a little less careful about precise flame positioning and can burn the torch for that extra half second without worrying I will see a wisp of walnut smoke.
But after a week or so of heavy use, my basic only very rarely smokes, and that is only when I push it hard after several consecutive bowls.
@axakal,
I really like the simple, sleek look of the charred basics, but then, I also like the Steampunk look of the Classic/Mica with the screws and shield. So hard to make up my mind!
