Vapman

Never know when these sketchy vapman batteries will die. How do you plug this thing in?

Im amazed i can feel such effects off of such a small amount of flower..

You don't plug it in, ever. I think it's solar powered? And some magic, of course.

I'm with you on the efficiency part. I think part of it might be a 'contact high' of sorts from being so intimately involved with the process and some of it is of course excellent design and lots of testing. But the differences can be very striking sometimes. Kinda makes you wonder what happened to the THC in those other vapes, doesn't it? It went in with the fresh bud, didn't come out in ABV.......

I'm a three hole guy now. I had two holes plugged and just decided to plug the third. I was using the open hole as a carb but started thinking it would be easier using my lips to carb. So now I have all three holes plugged and I find I like it better and get even better results in vapor production from the Vapman.
What do you mean by using your lips to carb? Do you mean letting in more air by opening your lips around the mouthpiece like with a joint?

I've always assumed that the engineers behind this device would have chosen the optimal amount of ambient air into the "scenario" as they seem to have been meticulous in their design by all other accounts.

I have no problems with mods, I'm just curious about the airflow dynamic in general.

Yes

Vapman engineered the mouthpiece to cool the vapor to body temp (which made for wispy vapor imo) — the reason for the three holes.

From my use this design feature was not optimal for the heavier vapor I sought after. Thus the plugged holes mod.
I just gave it a try and I have to say that I liked it. It gives you total control of the airflow and is intuitive for the initiated. More testing is required of course, but thanks @steama for the night's research project. :science:

Has anyone had the gold plate start flaking off due to heat (Id assume) I mean, one thing that keeps me from pushing the temps is my fear of losing the pretty gold. I use a small one flame torch... And while I cant say I've gotten combustion, like I have in my MFLB, I have seen a few charred bits. This is probably due to the lack of oxygen in the chamber, good design!

I was also very cautious to start off with, after reading the warning about the risk of the gold flaking off with excessive overheating. However, after later reading that the copper bowl would need to reach approximately 600°C / 1100°F for this to happen - I became a little bolder and got much better vapour as a result. I haven't experienced any flaking or combustion - just flavoursome vapour and great effects.

I've been a 3-Hole-Plugger almost from the beginning. Even with all 3 plugged, the draw is easier than the MFLB. Because Steama mentioned it the other day, I tried 2 holes and just didn't like it. Go for 3 or go home!

Like Mr Mellish, I plugged all 3 holes a while back too. Plugged 2 first and then decided to plug all three.

I asked Renné, the inventor of the Vapman and he told me that he prefers the three holes open because it produces cooler vapor and doesn't burn one's lungs. He told me he reads the forum and knows that some of us prefer to plug the holes so he leaves it as a tweak for each person to do or not do if they like. He did recommend leaving at least one hole unplugged, so I pass that on to you guys here.

I did find that the whole thing gets hotter with all holes plugged, but I believe I get better results – both in visible vapor (which is not that important to me) and in effects (which I do care about).

The cool thing is that you can plug the holes with toothpicks and easily remove them if you don't like it. You can try different sessions, plugging one, two, or all three holes and see what you like best.

I cut my toothpicks flush using an Exacto and you can hardly see the plugs at all – I'll post a pic tonight.

I agree, folks should try it to see if it suits them. Early on I plugged the holes as well, but found the original configuration more to my liking. For a while I had one plugged only, because I'd broken the toothpick off too short to grab in an accident. I finally managed to get it out and have kept all 3 open since.

BTW, if you want to experiment with blocking holes, tape is easier to use and remove........ And doesn't break off flush if you drop your Vapman. No need to do that little experiment, I've done it already.

I was also very cautious to start off with, after reading the warning about the risk of the gold flaking off with excessive overheating. Excellent points. The plating is pretty tough all right. There's a photo around here somewhere of one where the plating is burned off, but the owner used a huge torch and very high temperatures, the rest of the unit looks like a piece of charcoal bound for the barbie.

The other point is also a key I think. Most guys are too shy with the heat, getting marginal results, and so give up too soon. This is a vape where 'being brave' pays off. Combustion might be possible (I don't recall anyone reporting it, and I tried) so 'heat it a bit more next time, suck some and see what happens'?

A BMW is fun to drive around town and all, but opening it up on the highway is what it was designed for......and where it does best. Give your Vapman a chance and it will reward you big time.

Just got my Vapman. :science: Let the testing commense.

Edit, I like the size. Very small, but built with quaility componets. The chamber is small. It is enough though, I was medicated nicely at the end of my session. I like the aspect of the pan bieng conduction, and heating the mica/ air channels giving it a convection aspect as well. To early for any real results, more testing required...

@OF @steama @Seren @KidFated.
I love this vape. It is a perfect replacement for my old flame vape. Amazing how powerful it is. I can go from subtle vapor to thick clouds in a matter of seconds. After using it all weekend, I have gotten very good results in terms of effect and even cooking. Zero combustion. Great extraction from this little vape. Thank you everyone for posting and pushing me toward this little gem. This is a brilliant design. Puffitup sent me a very nice torch lighter to use with my VM. They really have great people over there.

You're most welcome. After all the great support you give folks around here, it's about time you got some payback, doncha think?

I couldn't agree with you more about the VM or PIU. VM is not for everyone (of course.....) but it's sure a personal favorite with me. Likewise, Randy's aces if you asked me, I feel good sending business his way. He sure supports us when the chips are down. We could use more vendors in his class.......

Recently did a kief only bowl. Damn, that knocked me off my socks. Pretty hard on the lungs though if you heat it with the same duration you use for normal herb bowls.

Yeah, I think the little guy kind of chokes on rich feed some? I backed off 'fortified loads' (a term stolen from the wine guys, wines like Ports and Sherry are 'fortified' with added Brandy to up their alcohol content so they won't degrade in the cask/bottle) with this guy. It does a bag up job with even mids, the top shelf stuff makes it sing IMO.

Enjoy it for what it is, I think most of us find after doing so it's something pretty special?

Best wishes,

I was gonna go with a lotus but with all this plate cracking issues im going with the vapman mica. I have fallen in love with butane powered vapes and now this and my hammer will serve me well till i get a lotus. Cant wait to try this bad boy out.
