Thanks to
MTBerVAPEer and
OF for addressing my questions.
Well, friday night i got to use the Vapman, and my first reaction was "Wow, the flavor is amazing!" and just handling and using the device is pretty cool. A piece of art and engineering.
The weird smell went away, and the expected flower smell was either very, very light or just non existant: very efficient and stealty vapor-wise.
However, having a bulk in your pocket can be counter-productive when you are in the middle of a pogo, as i realized when jumping and moshing at Jello Biafra's gig on friday.
Another problem you might jump in: if your Jet Lighter decides to stop working, as mine did after the concert and last night at a friend's party, you will be the guy with the amazing vaporizer on the pocket that just can't be used at all. We ended up buying rolling papers at a gas station and rolling a couple of joints, which fails at the whole "fuck combustion" purpose.
The size of the pan is very, very tiny: this is great if you are vaporizing on the go by yourself and have enough flowers in the backpack to replace the used ones, which won't happen that often if you know how to use this buddy because of the amazing efficiency it delivers. If you are sharing with friends, things change a lot: constantly heating the pan for others without lots of experience on how to properly do it will not give you perfect results, and becomes frustrating if you have a shitty lighter: I made the mistake of buying
this piece of crap because of its size and shape, thinking what would fit in the pocket with the vapman perfectly, but its quality sucked big time.
Some other thoughts: even though the Vapman itself seconds on build quality to none, the egg-shaped cover feels very cheap, specially because of the resulting contrast of plastic protecting mica, gold, steel and wood. It's a psychological thing, but kinda turned me off.
Bottom line: The strong dependency on Jet Lighters, the diminute size of the pan, the fact that it is not designed for sharing with friends and the bulkyness of the package in your pocket made me decide to return it. I'm now considering getting a MFLB with the power adapter: somehow i kept thinking that i rather rely on batteries than on lighters: never had an issue with the box when i had it, and if you discover that you didn't charge your batteries last night, at least it's your own fault.
Other problems i can think of: You can burn yourself. The mica will start flaking off with time and when cleaning.
Two things i learned with the Vapman: 1) Stealthyness is really important for me and 2) Dependency on fire does not help increase it.
Don't take me wrong, i think it's a wondeful vaporizer, but i much rather stay away from fire and charge batteries before i leave home. If you like handcrafted goods with excellent quality and either like or have no issues with lighters, then this vaporizer might be the one for you, but for me, i can hear the call of the launchbox, and it has never been so loud.
