Hi vapman thread. I'm new here but not to other threads or fuck combustion. I got a vapman for Christmas. So thought I'd head here for some advice.
I got the vapman with out mica so just bare wood.
ATM the I have a few vap caps a e nano and a flower mate. I've had plenty of vapes over the years. Anyways
I hope I don't annoy anyone with some newb questions.
But can I ask the veteran vapman crew for tips.
Firstly do you have to grind?
Is fine or course better?
Can you microdose with this vapman or over fill the bowl?
If I plug the holes in the mouthpiece does this produce more vapor?
Can I treat, varnish or paint the vapman? Ive only used once but I'm getting charring on the wood and a little burnt smell and smoke. Is a tiny flame recommended? Is the Charing part of the design and will happen on all vapmans?
Vapor wise bit wispy so far.
I'm trying to fact find before I use it don't want to wreck the look of the vapman by not using it correctly.
Thanks guys
Hey Lazy, welcome.
- Firstly do you have to grind?
Yes
- Is fine or course better?
Finer is better
- Can you microdose with this vapman or over fill the bowl?
Yes. But since you have essentially material in the bowl, be careful not to combust.
- If I plug the holes in the mouthpiece does this produce more vapor?
Yes, but we've found that it's not necessary. You can plug all holes with toothpicks at the beginning if you want so you can get more visible vapor - use it as training wheels and then remove later.
- Can I treat, varnish or paint the vapman?
You can treat the outside with Drying Linseed Oil or wood wax.
- Ive only used once but I'm getting charring on the wood and a little burnt smell and smoke. Is a tiny flame recommended?
Flame should be rather short. OF's technique is to measure the dark blue (middle part) of the flame against the bottom ring as your guide. (Did I get that right
@OF?
- Is the Charing part of the design and will happen on all vapmans?
Yes.charring is not a problem. It will actually season the wood and make it more heat/fire resistant.
- Vapor wise bit wispy so far.
This happens to everyone at the beginning. Follow OF's mantra: Don't be shy with the heat. Or mine: You have to dance in the fine line between combustion and most vapor production.
Play with it. If you combust, Do Not inhale. Blow out of the mouthpiece, quickly remove the mouthpiece and blow out of it a few times and quickly clean your bowl.
