Vapir Prima

I meant which ones had made you think it was vape of the year, but I appreciate the links. Looks like the thevape.guide one straight up called it the best vape of 2015. Sounds like it works well with concentrates, too.

I was thinking of the Grasshopper, which I think is an obvious one albeit with an unclear release date, and the Zion.

The release date for the Grasshopper was a few months ago. It's the few months that you will have to wait to get it. It has a huge backorder and they don't carry stock as they are made to order. I'm seriously considering just waiting the few months to be without a proper portable just to get it.

I'm looking for a new portable; it's a toss up between the crafty and grasshopper. I was going to review the Vapir Air One on another board and wanted to see if they still sold it; I saw the Vapir Air 2 in the search bar. Then I wanted to see what that was all about and saw some cool new products. Then I saw the Prima and that looked like something I want.

I abused my Vapir Air One for many years before the fan died. I would constantly alter the fan speed to get the best bags possible. Being more than satisfied, I want to see what the Prima can do. I think it has a chance at being my new portable.

Unless you ordered a GH a few months ago I doubt you will possibly see it in within a few months from now. September is almost over and they still have yet to finish with the first two weeks of their IGG campaign backers from two years ago...

The shipping date just said December. Do you think it will take longer?

I don't see the prima producing the same quality as the Crafty. Stainless steel air path, not sure on that one. Don't get me wrong, I love Vapir. I write this as I vape my Rise 2.0

I will try to compare the Prima to the Crafty but they are both quite different animals. The Prima definitely comes out on top in many ways over the Crafty, like the fact that it has a removable battery, has a longer battery life, its easier to clean, its slightly smaller, the construction seems more reliable with the aluminum body but the Crafty does have some great features like a full range of temperatures, full convection heat, weighs less, vibration alarm, doesn't get as hot to the touch etc. Both vapes are from great companies that have been around since the beginning of vaporizers pretty much and they both offer great customer service and a wide range of products.

Which vape would I pick if I had to choose one? I don't know, I like them both for different reasons like what I mentioned above so it depends on what your looking for and what you want in a portable vaporizer. If you don't need/want a full temperature control but do want a longer battery life with the ability to remove and replace the battery, then I would choose the Prima. A removable battery is a huge plus and for the price Storz and Bickel should have offered that on the Crafty and the Prima has that and its cheaper!

When it comes down to temperatures, I usually don't mess around to much, I just find a temp that works good and pretty much stick to it but it is nice to have the ability to fine tune your extraction. I think Vapir did a good job finding 4 temps that all work good and they give the user a good range to suit different preferences from a lighter vapor with less affect to thick vapor and a heavy affect, however I do wish that the lowest temperature was a little bit lower. The 4 temps are: 1) 350-360f, 2) 365-375f, 3) 380-390f and 4) 390-400f

If you the absolute best quality vapor from a portable then IMO, the Crafty and Mighty cannot be beat but the Prima produces great tasting vapor that is smooth and potent without any off taste to it and I think it may be slightly cooler too because its not full convection heat. I would say that the Crafty and the Prima have about the same draw resistance which isn't too hard/tight to draw but its not completely airy and resistance free like the Inhalater Vaporizers.

The Prima defiantly feels/holds/hits more like a traditional pipe or spoon, so if your someone who likes that style or feeling then the Prima may be a better fit.

Another thing to consider is the shut-off timer which is 1 minute with the Crafty unless your inhaling and its about 5-6 minutes with the Prima. Both auto-shut-offs can be canceled so the unit will stay on and with the Prima you just double tap the on/off button and it will continue to go another 2 minutes and with the Crafty you have to hit the on/off button to keep it going another minute or inhale and the sensor will know and it will keep the unit on.

The Prima uses mostly conduction heat with some convection so if you leave the unit on without taking any draws then your herb will still be mostly vaped but with the Crafty which is mostly convection, you can leave it on without hitting it and your herb will still be mostly fresh/ unvaped. With conduction, its better to pack the chamber on the tighter side and its the opposite with convection. I have noticed that the Prima works great either way which is a huge plus so you don't need to fill the chamber to get some good vapor.

Both vapes can do concentrates and they both use the same type of steel pad as a medium for the concentrate and they both vape concentrates well. Prima's max temp is 390-400f and the Crafty is slightly higher at 410f. The Prima's chamber is slighty smaller than the Crafty and they are both nice sizes but the Crafty is slightly easier to load and unload thanks to the ingenious filling aid and it helps having a wider chamber.

Also, The Prima heats up faster, about twice as fast as the Crafty, around 30-45 seconds.

Hope this helps a little, let me know if you want to hear more about the Prima or the Crafty. I will be posting more about the Prima as I continue to test it and I took it on a long hike today and it was a great, no complaints. I will have more photos soon.........
Thx for the detailed comparison. Can you also compare it to the pax 2? Especially comparing flavor? Thx again!

I'm looking for a new portable; it's a toss up between the crafty and grasshopper.

Depends what you are after.
Crafty has ~2min warm up
Grasshopper ~6seconds
Crafty is a session vape (finish bowl in one sitting).
Grasshopper you can take a hit and save the remaining hits for later (it's full convection)
Crafty has much cooler vapor (especially at high temps)
Grasshopper is downright unbearably hot at higher temps (needs a watertool).

I could go on... but these are the main differences.
I think you can work out which would suit your needs better.

Although I'm still curious about this vape... The reviews seem to put it into the top shelf arena... So it still has my attention.... I'm just waiting for sneakypete review.... That guy is thorough as fuck in his reviews.

This is already admitted to be a knock-off of the cheap Chinese vape shown on page 1. The only reason I could see knowingly buying one is because supposedly this vape is supposed to fund their "actual" vaporizer, still in R&D....

I'll pass on that concept though, personally.

Wrong thread. You're thinking of Vapeur I'm pretty sure. Vapir are established and aren't trying to fund anything for the future with the Prima.

Give me a scare why don't you guys. I was going to put this on my short list. I still am. Everything about this looks good to me. It looks like a solidly built vape and I have had good experience with Vapir before. It even has a cool 80s appliance look to it.

I've done my research and I agree with your assessments. What I really really want is on demand heat which is why the Grasshopper caught my eye. I wanted a firefly but after my replacement tasted and smelled as bad as the first unit, I talked with a senior support guy and opted to return the whole thing for a full refund. Sadly it's not for me based only on the taste and smell coming from the vapor path; apparently some people are sensitive to it. Keep in mind that most people don't have this issue and are satisfied.

The grasshopper is at the very top of my list and I think the Prima is jostling with the Crafty and Ascent for second place. For several reasons, I'm interested in all three. Short of on demand heat, I have very few specific wants outside of overall quality. On demand heat is the major perk but after my first generation iolite, any of the one's I mentioned have an ideal heat up time. I just really love the fact that with on demand heat I can walk outside, take a hit and come back in faster than I can pack my one hitter.
Some sort of mileage extender like an external charger/pass through charging, extra batteries is ideal. I appreciate a cool vapor and a fairly open vapor path. The Firefly keeps very cool, but the airflow requires effort to pull. I like that these mentioned are fairly flexible with how coarse or fine you can grind herb and how tight or loose you can pack them.

The grasshopper's heat is the only thing about the product itself that makes me hesitate. My old iolite can get hot enough to dry my throat out. That and I wanted a new portable two months ago so the wait time is putting me off.

The bowl seems smaller on the prima which is nice. I hope it's not a sipping vape and let's you take huge hauls unlike the Arizer air that seems to be small hauls only.

Don't bother with the Ascent, I returned mine. It was well overhyped. The crafty is in another league!
Dont waste your time with the ascent, honestly.

The grasshopper sounds like the vape for your needs.
Grasshopper is ok at low temps but at high temps... Don't even bother... You will need a water tool to get everything out of your bowl.

Wait for some more detailed reviews of the Prima.
If you can't wait for a good review or the wait time for the grasshopper, you won't be disappointed with the crafty, but it's a session vape (e.g. You want to start and finish a bowl in one sitting, ideally).

I'd like to buy a Prima and review... But funds don't permit lol.

I really like the Prima but its much different than the Crafty. The Prima feels like a pipe, you hold it like one and can hit it like one with short quick rips unlike the Crafty where you need a longer inhalation. The Prima heats up faster but doesn't have the temps the Crafty does, Prima is mostly metal and gets hotter than the Crafty which is mostly plastic but stays cooler. Prima is easier to clean because the Crafty cooling unit is a pain to clean sometimes but the Crafty is easier to load/unload than the Prima. Overall, one beats the other depending on the feature but they are both good for different reasons.....

Thx for the added info. As you continue to play with the Prima, can you update your flavor comparison with the Crafty? Both 1st pull and through an oven-full?

I'm really liking the look and initial reviews of this one! Did I see somewhere a price drop or is it still $250+?

Thx! How are you liking your Prima? I saw you traded it from a MiVape. I've been following that thread too, and curious about that Vape. Now I'm leaning towards the Prima while I wait for my gh.

No one but testers, vape reviewers, etc have this now that I know of. I think VaporNation just got their shipment this week and shipping them out next week (not 100% on that but close enough). I figured if I was gonna wait even longer for the miVape (bought one, Dan sent me another overnight so I had 2 that didn't work) so I figured I would give the Prima my attention (think I made the right call, seen where 1 person already had to send back a miVape replacement). I am too waiting for the GH but thinking about getting a refund with every person that needs a replacement. I am excited about the Prima because I have never used a Vapir product.

Does the vapor get real hot that it's stainless?

Only being able to have quick rips is like a pax 1. Not sure if I like that.

I like the 5 year warranty on the prima on the crafty its 2 years and they brake every 3 months on avarage. I need to see a crafty prima comparison.
