Discontinued Vapexhale Petra (Upgraded Evo?)

Cloudy...
I was thinking they might be trying to go more proprietary when you can get knockoff hydratubes for less, but if the base of a hydratube isn't too wide and it's just a standard 19mm connection then I don't see how they could make it proprietary.

*Hanu confirmed that the Swiss Honeycomb is 5cm to big before I could finish this post.

@Salvaged_Title_Robot It's just underneath the description of what is included when you expand the website "show more" tab.
With that wide shape around a recessed male joint, they killed almost any option to use it in a rig/bong (not to talk about those ¿handles?) Even the shit rigs they sell won't work with it so now you have to order from China or from them an hydratube. That already takes out loads of options, enough that I'm not even interested in it because all the appeal of the vapexhale cloud, has always been to use it through any glass pieces you had and they just killed that.

It's like having a lambo and decide to put the back on the front, stupid and fucks up everything :mental:

Downward spiral
Supported Team VXH from the inception. Sometimes there were some bumps along the way, BUT, Seibo and CO. always made things right(can't speak for everyone, these are just my experiences). I truly loved my OG Clouds and still feel the Evo is a 1st class vape that, imo, should be somewhere in every vaporist's vape rotation. When I want to flavor chase/temp step, I always go for my Evo. Prior to covid, my Clouds/Evo, was what I always went for when a pre-vape converted friend(s) dropped by and wanted to "see what this vaping things all about". I recommend it to friends/fellow med patients/who'll ever listen to me talk, lol. I just wanted to say how much I love this company, VapeXhale, and past vapes, before I critique the new Petra.

I am torn because I love all the iterations/models that Vapexhale has put out. Team Hanu does not make me feel about the Petra, the way Team VapeXhale made me feel about their vapes.

A "gripped silicone" molding on one side(or even 2 opposing sides) could have made it less hot to hold, whilst not making it look so....funky-in-not-a-good-way-funky. The recessed top, well, I recall many a FC'er here that had broken their Cloud/Evo's male joint. While I see a need that could have used some solving, the way they designed that recessed joint is less than useful, to me, someone who has always enjoyed inverting their Cloud/Evo's with my different glass rigs. It does look like it will be more "idiot proof", but it comes at the cost of losing some great functionality, and versatility of the Cloud/Evo. The design of the Petra, for me, is less than pleasing. Too much of a marketing feel to it. Like just a cosmetic redesign for the Insta/Tik-Tok crowd. I hope I am wrong and there and some user-recommended changes/new engineering technology under the hood.

It sucks for the Swiss Honeycomb owners, hopefully this will change prior to launch. I miss the straight, og style hydratubes. Worst decision I ever made was part with my last one in a trade for a Mobius rig :mad:.

Long story short...I'd love to support this iteration, but until I hear a bit more here on FC, I'm gonna put buying the Petra, "on hold" for the moment.

While the recessed 18mm male on the Petra might be an issue for Past Hydratube iterations, I believe it won't be an issue for us using it upside down on glass. I wish we got a countdown timer or temp dial screen with it. The color is not my style either. I hope they at least change them to black.

@Abysmal Vapor

The pid is not necessary as the EVO is perfect as it was. I really wanted a screen showing auto shutoff time and electronic non-PID temp dialing via analog knob.

Interested to see reviews for this, at a glance it seems like an EVO just in a new casing that will provide security to prevent it being tipped over or the gong snapping. In theory I like this move towards increased stability as the main fault with vapexhale has been it's fragility.
Is air pulled from the top of the unit now instead of the bottom?

Very curious to see some reviews of this unit. Kind of looks like a spaceship. Quite unique.

I would have rathered see vapexhale dip their toes into the portable market as they have been teasing for some time now.

Well ,i think the EVO is far from perfect, but to each his own. For that price i would expect it to make breakfast and give me a good night kiss, but that's just how that pricing looks from Eastern EU.. GL to all new adopters ,we are looking forward to see if upgrades justify the price tag.

Well performance differences are to be noted only after rigorous testing by our resident FC guru's.
But its evident they have spent some funds on new tooling with the metal housing, which is looking slick, there are enough exterior design changes atleast not like Storz Bickel minor incremental upgrades.
But its clear this is also built around the their original design principle glass on glass utilized in the evo.

We've been discussing it in the Evo thread too!

This video that @His_Highness posted I think is pretty revealing! Thanks again for posting it dude!
Introducing the Petra:

IMO, he makes a big deal about the handles and the insulation making it cooler, but doesn't mention that this has solved the annoying time out "feature". The marketing spiel makes it sound like the Evo got a performance increase, but they don't talk about what's under the hood at all.

There is one thing I really like about the design and that's lifting the unit and getting rid of the heat shield straps that interrupt the intake.

220 is available now on the vxl site with the pre-order price.

Thanks for the heads up found it. This is great news im stoked.
I cant help it but buy and support this company even though i already own three units of the vapexhale cloud evo with one sealed piece kept as backup in my closet for dooms day. I prefer my evo over the flowerpot and volcano hybrid.
I really dig seibo, his story, his vision and FC was a great contributing factor to the development of the EVO from the original Cloud.

From Vaporizer acquisition syndrome its now become vapexhale acquisition syndrome.

In the video he shows a nail but what about the mesh baskets for flower, any changes there? Until they figure out an all glass vapor path, I am not interested, my Evo has been mothballed for years because of that. What is the point of having a glass tube go through the unit and then wreck it all by putting that awful steel mesh basket at the end, the one you have to pry out with your fingernails when it's hot and is so hard to empty. And I am still not a fan of the glass on top vapes, a lot fewer options for glass, and, if you use water, the constant fear that water will leak into the unit and short it out.

Looks like there is no 80$ discount for the 220V version!?

Cloudy...
We have a post about the Petra guys, come over:

Personally, I'm not interested at all, I see it as a huge step back. My EVOs are used inverted in my glass collection. This unit with the recessed joint, the super-wide top, and those handles like an espresso coffee machine ain't gonna work for that and gonna make the experience much more difficult and clunky. Glad that my OG and my EVO are still working like first day, they're my favorite vapes.

PS: Am I the only one that finds it wrong that Seibo is using my email account without permission to spam me with content I never asked for and not related to VXL? AFAIK when I gave my email to VXL I didn't allow them to share it with people to SPAM me. In some countries I can literally take him to court for this, really disappointing :puke:

I'm all for supporting new VapeXhale stuff assuming their products remain excellent. And I don't think the Petra will be any different. I look forward to hearing from people who get their hands on this new vape.

There are lots of vape collectors out there that a Petra should interest. I'm not in the market myself, and am content with what I have (one portable, one desktop). Thx for the video @His_Highness! Nice. The Petra looks solid, interesting and gotta love the EVO heart (glass bamboo and heater setup). Wow though, the Petra looks huge! I like to pick up the EVO with one hand and dry vape on a comfy cough in the family room.... that Petra is like a double hander supersized vape! I wonder what the dimensions are. The Petra seems better suited to sitting on a table, like in the video. While personally, I like smaller form factor vapes.

I look forward to seeing the Petra in the community.

I've said this so many times I can't keep count. Please excuse the repetition....."I love my EVO. When I want to take my time and "savor" a session its the vape I reach for. I've also called it a "weed connoisseur's" vape. It reminds me of a wine decanter used to expose and enhance the nose and flavor profile of wine instead of just guzzling it. It's one of the best vapes I own for clean, cloudy and tasty vapor especially when used dry.

IMO the EVO has two weak areas that could have used some attention...the amount of time it takes to reach temp and a better approach to concentrate use. As far as I can see there has been no enhancement to these areas ..... I'm not tempted by the Petra.

I've been using my EVO inverted with my D020-D for a long time without issue and I also use the OG dry tube when I'm chasing taste. I'm happy with my current set up and the Petra looks like it might get in the way of my D020-D use. Looks a little bulky.

It might grow on me but not yet. Reminds me of this, lol.

The vape for supervillains, haha.

I guess the countersunk hydratube setup will protect the 18mm mail joint, though I've never had a problem with it exposed. Looks problematic with small mouthpieces like the Helio (which I really dig).

So where do they load the bud on this thing?
