Discontinued VapeXhale Cloud

Thanks for the info Cannabinaut and Vapelexus. With that info, I'm really a little bummed lol. I'll still use it when I get it (sleeve) but I was hoping it would be a little more professional looking. Whatever. I'll be glad to be able to easily pick up my Cloud, after a long session.

Side not, when did the background of FC become blood stains?

Well, if it's adhesive backed, then why not cut small patch or something and only apply on the sides it where you like go pick up the cloud? That way you can get several uses out of one grip sleeve when the first ones you cut start to wear out, and not have it covering your entire casing.

I like that idea, Jamband. The thing that is a little odd is the way is looks mainly and it does feel like your holding some sort of creepy rubber object. The first think he complained about was that the outer shell got way too hot, so I applied his sleeve to it and that solved the only problem he had with the Cloud. His Swagger Double like others seems to be a bit wonky (tree perc off center, visual flaw in the ground joint). Being a glassblower myself I probably would go with one of the others (though I won't sell anything that isnt up to my standards so I may be a bit picky I'm not sure) but I havent seen those in person so I really cant talk about the build quality of the others. The piece worked amazingly just visually was a bit off.

bazzles,
my SGW showdome is bomb! I'm glad I got one of the good ass HT's that were made by a reputable glass company. Nothing against Swagger and Evolver they just aren't as well known as SGW

I want a purple LED sooo bad. If they ever do customized colored clouds I know I am definitely in for another buy!

I want a purple LED too, firmware update??

Also, my buddies Cloud has a couple differences, I think he needs to send it back for repair. The GONG joint is pushed down all the way, plus the GONG joint also is loose and moves up and down. The ELBs also don't fit well at all and get squished. It doesn't tick either but he actually likes that lol. Should he just call for service, it is a recent purchase during the high times promo. We both love our clouds btw, with it we have been converting many east coasters to vapor. Might snag a devastator, loving my Mobius Matrix, it is the perfect combo with the cloud.

Should I just have my buddy call Vapexhale?

I was disappointed by the SSFG hydraline's somewhat sloppy work when I got it, but it functioned so well I couldn't complain. I wrote a rave review of it in this thread. But when I saw a showerdome at the Kush Expo I couldn't help but notice how much cleaner it looked than the hydraline or any of the Swaggers. The new hydratubes function great but they are not what I would call "precision glass," and as a collecter I don't want to spend that much money on something that doesn't look perfect. I wish I could find one of the SG gridded tree hydratubes, but of course nobody with one of those would ever part with it.

A few thoughts on the Cloud I've been holding in my head for a while . . .
  • I, for one, love the temperature of the outer shell, I can grip it continuously. My arthritic fingers really appreciate this aspect of the Cloud, it is a comfort, especially during autumn and winter.
  • I like SM55's more tightly controlled LED indicator, also referred to as "a glitch". It indicates, to me, more accurately when the Cloud reaches an ambient state, utilizing a longer heat up time, which I prefer.
  • I love the little "zzztt, zzztt, zzztt, zzztt . . ." of my Cloud, its soothing and provides audible feedback on what the unit is doing.
  • My Cloud runs hot, so I turn the temperature dial down, usually 10:30/11:00 for flowers and Noon for water hash.
  • I want to thank Purpl3_Haz3 for posting his video of the 2 cap method for dry sift/bubble hash extraction. It works really well and has taken a Cloud that runs a little "hot" and made it into a real hash extractor.
  • My Cloud runs nearly continuously, all day, every day, without incident. The only time its off is when I am asleep or not home. A longer off timer would really be nice, my Cloud runs exactly 57 minutes before shut down. I want a WEMO but they don't play with Andriod yet.
  • Adjustable light levels would also be nice. A couple times vaping under the stars, it would have been nice to have been able to momentarily bump up the LEDs, reload or whatever, then turn it back down to resume vaping.
  • The "feet" of the Cloud can mar some softer surfaces.
  • My bamboo has the flare and is relatively secure, moving a little as designed, having settled with no problems.
Personally, I'm glad I held my water and didn't send in my Cloud for warranty. As an early adopter I feel adjustments are to be expected. As it sits now, I like my "clicky" old core, and a couple "so called" negatives have actually turned out to be positives, IMO, given time and opportunity. VapeXhale will have to do a larger update for me to even consider sending in my core for warranty, and then, I will just buy another and keep this original as a backup.

The Cloud ticks on . . . :peace:

I'm confused? If your cloud is working perfectly, why would you send it in? When you say it runs hot, has it combusted medicine?

I'm so jealous. Would love either the SGW or Sovereignty HydraTubes :-).

Yes it did once long ago during my initial testing, this is the first time I have mentioned it. The LED being too tightly controlled was also supposed to be a "flaw" but I like it the way it is.

Ah yea. I understand. I couldn't take that chance. My unit was fine, until one day it combusted at 12 O'Clock. I needed to send mine in. I think the temp regulator busted. I had used it at 2 o'clock with no problems previously, but when it combusted at 12, that was enough for me.

Quite understandable. My Cloud @ Noon provides a really dark chocolate espresso brown ABV.

Question re glassware: the cloud is my first glassware, ever. i got the swagger double. it has some issues but i wanted to get a reality check here. first the percs are not very well centred or level and the lower one is to the side so far its almost touching the inner wall. also there is a shmoosh of glass like a thin lip that is protruding into the joint such that i can't get a complete seal when its on the cloud.

I would think for a $350 piece it should be pretty close to perfect. but is this just the way stoner glass is? or should ask for an exchange?
Since you have no experience it would be helpful if you posted pictures of what you're seeing. Keep in mind that glass pipes are made by human hands and variations are normal. It's not hard to find "imperfections" in glassware at any cost. If there's a legitimate defect with the joint that prevents a proper seal, then you'd have reason to file a support ticket. Please do post some pictures of this.

Day 2 on my replacement cloud, its working like a champ. I actually picked up a cheapo bubbler for the cloud and concentrates with a pollen bowl and a ceramic heat pen. Tonight I loaded up a new med SliM recommended (Thanks buddy) which is high in CBD. Tonight I did a full load of this and then an indica that was chopped at about 10-20% amber and along with the edibles I had today I actually turned the cloud off half way through that second load and that was over an hour ago. I think I may actually go to bed here in a bit without needing my typical nighttime session.

This is after taking a fall while playing with my son last night, bruised up my shoulder pretty bad and flared up my back and old wrist injury. Here's hoping to a good nights sleep.

Random question, but out of curiosity, do new units arrive in immaculate condition, with respect to the black shell?

Since it's metal, I'm assuming the black is some sort of paint coat that can wear off easily? Would it be unrealistic of me to expect a flawless shell without as much as even a speck of exposed metal on it?

Not a deal breaker for me or anything (if the answer is yes to the above), but I was just wondering...Since Vapexhale is a new company, I'm trying to tame my expectations beforehand...(really picky/OCD person here)

It's normal for the new units to come with some of the black coating chipped or flecked off or something. I didn't notice at first, due to the excitement of receiving something I had been wanting for years, but my Cloud has a small chunk of coating missing, near the Vapexhale logo. It's in a couple pics / videos I've posted. Not a big deal to me, because I've been waiting for so long, and it's aesthetics thing. My Cloud functions. I could totally understand why anyone would be upset though, receiving a Cloud with blemishes. I mean, QC............

There have been several users, however, who have reported receiving a blemished new unit, and IIRC, no one really cares enough to complain.

My original Cloud had a few bare areas where the coating was missing or nicked off, I noticed it mostly on the feet of the unit. In no means does it affect the cloud at all. Aesthetics is not something I concern myself with when something works as well as the cloud. I have tried a lot of different models and for me hands down the cloud is the most consistent both in flavor and vapor production until that last whispy hit. Not only does the flavor and vapor consistency stay the same the left overs are a nice even brown to espresso depending on temperature instead of oneven and sometimes charred on other models.

Great Scott!
My outer shell is mint. I'm really picky, but I wouldn't bother returning a shell.

I'd unbolt the shell with like 4 bolts, paint it, bolt it back up and call it a day.

so when i get a new one it's not going to tick anymore? I also liked that! lol! it told mewhen it was up to temp and ready to hit! I could also hear then it had gone off because of the lack of noise. I will miss that if it's not going to be there anymore... what else has changed in the newer revisions?

I totally agree and like those points you made too! i hope my replacement one will still do these things??

Sadly, when I got my new unit, no ticking. And also, no flared glass on the bamboo bottom. That's the only two real differences I noticed.

Believe it or not, I actually loved the ticking myself. It was low enough that I didn't really hear it, but high enough that my subconscious did, and knew when it stopped to look up to know it's ready. :-)

Oh I can't wait till I get my Cloud back yet again. :-) I just want to be in the Clouds.

I do want to add my friend got the Cloud around 3 days ago, there is no flare on the bottom of the bamboo and it seems pretty secure (there was no play when putting in the ELB or when putting the glass piece on (which rested slightly on the hot part if I remember right). No ticking sound on this Cloud either.

I think this thread is funny. When I first started reading 5 months ago to figure out what this cloud thing was I saw a lot of posts with people inquiring about the ticking and a lot of other people reassuring them that it was no big deal. The perception to random people like myself reading the thread is this is somehow not a fullly thought out design and it gave me a slight pause what other nagging things might be found. I knew I would be indifferent to a tick unless it was annoyingly loud. The overall feel in the forum was this was somehow a nuisance that Vapexhale should look into. Like a good company listening to users feedback they "fixed" it and now have units that don't tick. The unintended consequence is that the ticking provides a reassurance to the user the unit is heated up and people are missing the ticking noise. I wouldn't be surprised if the "ticking" units become a hot commodity because they are the only ones that tick and presumably are limited in supply. I myself love the ticking noise.

When the PS3 came out the original bigger version had a special chip that was backwards compatible with PS2 games. Then the smaller and more efficient newer models came out with software emulation for older games and much less backwards compatibility. There is a unique demand for that older more power hungry PS3... maybe not so much anymore.

Vapexhale should patent the ticking noise and call it an audible feedback heating control system, give it a fancy marketing name "Vapexhale Whispertick heat control technology" and then everyone will be lining up to buy units thinking they are getting something special. Companies do this all the time. IBM slaps a bunch of LED's on the front of servers and calls it IBM Lightpath Technology. Fancy names for seemingly insignificant features/nuisances can really help drive a product.

lol. Your Cloud is plastic?

Hmm, that's what I was thinking. The shell feels nothing like plastic (I actually thought it was ceramic at first), and the silver streaks revealed by the chipped paint on my friend's cloud suggested metal.
