VapCap Induction Heater for Desktop and in Car Use

Was out of town at a trade show over the weekend but received my Caldron from Pipes on Saturday (just in time for lots of new Dynavap goodies) and holy cow - this thing slaps.

Having only had one of the original Lucid Customs wooden boxes before, the one thing I appreciate above all else is the 'push to activate' - this is literally my dream vaporizer setup.

Between picking up a couple of new caps and some new glass this weekend, and getting this guy in the mail, it feels like Christmas and my birthday all rolled into one.

As I said, I can totally appreciate where you're coming from. I just received my @phattpiggie IH with custom enclosure...maybe this will help spark your creative juices for coming up with your own enclosure?







AFAIK, the guts of this IH is a @Pipes barebones kit which is also what goes into the Cauldron (reason why I'm posting here). He also installed a braided cord and terminates to a female socket encased in matching wood. Very nice touch. I couldn't be happier with this.

I also have a bunch of battery vapes that cost me a small fortune. I wish I found out about DynaVap first.
Not just ready to just toss them but I’m close.
I thought I was done with torches but I also use a Sticky Brick. DynaVap and Sticky Brick are my only way I vape these days.
I haven’t touched my Sticky Brick in a while until last night. I’m not crazy about having to still use a torch but it’s definitely my once a week secondary device.
It’s nice to change things up a little and last night with the Brick was great, but DynaVaps and an induction heater are my primary vapes.

I made some changes to my heater from the original psm .I milled a wenge wood top cover and milled a slot on the side for the battery indicator . The heater worked fine but I really wanted to have the dynavap and flowwer all contained in the same unit so I made some changes to the internals for a bigger battery and the other piece .currently the battery is not charging so I have to troubleshoot that but I'm not sure where to start .

My PSM just died after about 8 months of use. The battery doesn't hold a charge anymore and the light indicator/test button does not even start.

Any ideas?

I think the battery is rated for 200-300 charges so if you've been using heavily, that's the most likely culprit. Here is a vid that someone else posted that should help you if you decide to replace the battery yourself:

The first thing you should do is go through @Pipes troubleshooting guide here:

This is linked in the FAQ. It should give you an indication as to what's gone wrong or at least a starting point. Try this before contacting @Pipes and provide him the results if you still need assistance.

Mine died after a dozen uses. It sits on the shelf, dead. If I charge it the night before and leave it off the charger overnight (in the OFF position) it is dead by morning. I just tested it and it works OK while plugged in, although I only have 1 cap out of 7 that doesn't 'stick' with a tactile switch.

I have had all 3 of Pipe's heaters and none worked for me. Love my SJK. Love the proximity switch best of all.

Only took the PSM out once and used the battery that way, otherwise it was my daily driver for 6 months of heavy desktop (line in) performance.

What a shame, does Pipes have a warranty, or am I SOL? It looks like my battery is toast from the troubleshoot page.

I just removed the battery, bloated POS looking thing. I tried running on mains with the battery out but it's got the same symptoms, maybe my charger is gone too? Man I killed this damn thing...

It won't run on the charger, pipes had recommended a different power supply if you intended to remove the battery and run it that way.

When you kept it plugged in you were running off a battery that you were constantly charging. . .

The "bloated POS looking thing" is a LiPO battery. . . many would say they're kinda "state of the art" in battery tech.

Hey guys, I'm back from a great Vacation. 4 days in 1000 Islands with my wife and grandson. Boat cruise tour, helicopter ride, Fort Henry tour and a tour of the old Kingston Penitentiary. A good fun few days.
So a couple points here.
First thing when one gets the PSM is to charge it. To charge, the power switch needs to be in the on position. Varify it's getting a charge by the charger LED turning to red. After an hour it should be green or flickering. This means the unit is charged. The flickering is the two smart charge circuits not perfectly matched as to what is fully charged. It will stop if wait long enough. Just so this is more understood, the BMS may be cutting out at 12.59V to protect from overcharging and the smart charger wants to see 12.6V. So when the BMS cuts out the charger goes green which turns off and now the BMS sees the lower voltage and turns back on. Now the charger wants to turn back on too and this causes the flickering we see. OK, enough with that.
So now it's full and when the battery indicator is depressed, it should show all 5 LEDs. Depressing the VC into the hole will drop the readout to 3-4 LEDs. This is all normal operation.
Also, as mentioned a few times, the charger cannot be used as a supply or visa versa. The PSM can be used with a power supply if the battery is removed only. Never use a supply to charge the battery as will kill it fast. Reason being, it will charge at whatever current rate the supply can put out and will never reach full charge. The continuous 12 volt top up will also take life out of the battery. Please use the correct powering technique for whichever unit you have.

Im a noob with electronics and i just ordered a 5/12v mini Zvs induction heater.

I have a spare 12v car battery laying around, would this combo work? And if so, what other components would I need to use for safety and functionality.
