Here is my paper roasting setup. The tip fits inside the log's heater cover. It's my micro-dosing favorite.
ooooo lawd, im hoping to get a little closer to a three dog night myselfBagged me a couple of real beauties from that refresh - two young pups to keep the old Dog company. The Chico Claro Walnut is now well over six years old but still works fine and still looks lovely but, y’know .. VAS . The big one on the right is a Streaked Hackberry Alpha and the middle one is a Chico Chinese Pistache SC3+.
A couple of detail shots. This is the marvellous patterning you see when dd vaping the Alpha.
The claro quality on the Chinese Pistache gives this log an amazing 3D effect which is difficult to reproduce with a camera. It’s also highly UV reactive giving it some seriously trippy visuals.
The workmanship on these pieces is quite exceptional. The surface finish is like glass. And, as you’d expect from UD, they perform brilliantly.
It's going to take me some time to get to know these Dogs - and I'm looking forward to it.

Thats a gorgeous one, i was wondering when someone was gonna grab that guy. Congrats! My first dog is finding his way home today! I went with the Blue Mahoe Alpha, and I can't wait to meet him!!
Thank you! I was deciding between that and the Bloodwood, so I emailed asking for some additional pics to help me decide, and luckily he hadn't boxed them up yet. From there it wasn't even a choice!Thats a gorgeous one, i was wondering when someone was gonna grab that guy. Congrats!

I added, and subsequently removed, that Blue Mahoe Alpha from my cart several times, so I sincerely appreciate your help!Thank you! Hey underdog fam, I'm looking for some advice on how to improve my UD use. A few years back when the UD team was dealing with a natural disaster I bought my first vape to support them (SC2 I think). I did tons of research beforehand and I was really excited but ultimately it didn't do much for me and it sat unused for years while I continued to combust. Fast forward to today, I picked up a Dynavap and Xmax V3 Pro to try vaping again and this time I finally saw the light. I've been vaping only for 2 months now and have quit combustion completely.
Which brings me back to my unused UD. I was really hoping to get something out of this beautiful log now that I've fully made the switch to vaping. I've tried straight, through a water piece and through a j-hook. While the flavor is incredible, and I'm getting lots of vapor, I'm honestly just not getting that high. The same amount of flower in the dyna makes me way higher than the UD and even the Xmax outperforms in terms of effects. What really confuses me is that I'm getting such a good amount of vapor from the UD, I'm just not seemingly getting that high off it. I've tried playing with various temps with a preference towards the higher end. I'm using around 10.3-10.5 before it starts getting into combustion territory.
I do let the UD heat up for at least an hour before use. I just wonder what I'm doing so wrong to get sub par effects. Has vape technology just improved that much since I bought my SC2 many years ago? Or am I fucking this up some how?

Glad to hear the Pup is getting another chance to play even if the results aren't what you're aiming for so far.
I think you can rule out tech improvements as a variable since vaporization (in this type of application) is just a game
of heating air and then delivering that air to the load. Given that the UD is making lots of vapor and that the flavor is great
I think we can safely say it's heating air and delivering it effectively.
I don't have a scientific way of experimenting with this or verifying it but I suspect it's a temp issue where the other vapes are
either heating the load more and releasing more intoxicating cannabinoids and the UD isn't heating the load to that degree so
not getting those same 'noids. Or maybe the UD is running so hot it's destroying them but I suspect the the first scenario to be
more likely.
I'd suggest experimenting even more with different temps and with different load amounts in the UD as airflow changes can affect
this stuff quite a bit and load size will definitely affect airflow.
I talk to a lot of smokers who say they don't get high (or as high) when vaping as long as they are also still smoking and quite a few
of them seem to think that the high temp effects they get from the smoking interferes, blocks or makes them insensitive to the lower
temp effects of vaping.
No personal scientific basis to the above just many years of casual observation that may or may not be helpful to you in trying to figure
the mystery out.
Along with what Dave said in the above reply, I'd like to see you try this :
1) Use a metal tipped stem (a clean stem is your friend when it comes to thick hits)
2) Set the depth of the screen so that the top of the basket is about the thickness of a nickle below the end of the stem
3) Use the straw method to gently (lightly) pack the stem so that it just fills to the end of the stem
4) Use the pad of your finger to lightly tamp the load so it does not extend all the way to the end of the stem
5) Experiment with temperature to achieve dark brown 1 hit extraction --- with less material and space for airflow you can get a nice roast.
My rule of thumb with my Underdogs is that if I want a zinger of a hit, the trick of using less material as described above delivers the punch. If you pack more, or use the glass tipped stems, you can get some nice clouds, and a range of flavors from fresh to spent as you take multiple tokes, but it doesn't do the same thing.
From your usage style, I would suggest that you let the stem sit in the dog for 20-30 seconds before hitting it as you'll get a bit more roasty-type hit.I do also have a Nylon direct draw stem with the metal tip that I never use because of the small bowl size. I'll start playing around with this stem and just loading it more.
Been a while since ive been on this forum, instantly to the underdog thread haha
Whats new its been a few years, kinda since the launch time or just after i guess. New products ? Improvements ?
