I don't know if there's 'a' technique, but depending on the potency of my herb, two NonGs within 5-10 minutes will get me to a solid [5]. One of my 'bedtime KO' strains will get me to a heavy-lidded [7], sometimes [8]. My 'after work' go-to gets me to a pleasant [3] or [4]. A GonG or oversized NonG will get me there in one stem, with 2-3 hits.
Temperature affects the
kind of lift/push, as well as the 'punch', so if you can handle it (and you're not chasing flavour) it's worth nudging it up a bit -- but maybe only after you're familiar with how your particular dog behaves as you get closer to combustion temps with whatever herb you're using. When using through water, the rapidity of the initial 'puff' of vapour is a good indicator; the more instantly you fill the glass piece's chamber, the closer you're getting to combustion, in my experience. But that's a perilously fine line, I'd nudge in 0.1V increments until it starts tasting 'worse,' then decide if you want to push further.
But really, it's less about technique and more about putting in 'flight hours' on your Underdog. If I'm not mistaken, you haven't had yours for very long? And while mine 'worked' from day one, I definitely got drastically better results the longer I used them, and got better at anticipating the results. If you're like me, and have bought a new toaster or ten in your day, think about the period where you're either barely toasting bread or completely fucking it up and end up waving a dish towel at your smoke detector. You eventually get it right, but it's less about technique, more about getting used to it, figuring it out. It's not
really about the toaster.

Edit: bonus stash shot, I reckon I'm set for...frig, years?
