Thanks for the tips. I've been messing around screen placement, usually placing it just so theres a tiny gap between the heater and screen. Is it too low if the screen is placed like a EQ basket screen towards the bottom end of the tip? I really can't get over how tiny this unit is... about as tall as the stock cyclone bowl on the EQ lol. I'm definitely already tempted to buy more goodies. That ss stem looks sleek.

Also with the unit being so small I noticed the top half of the unit gets pretty hot to the touch.

Not familiar with the EQ so I can't really say but maybe someone else can chime in. The Dog will definitely feel pretty hot to the touch especially if it's a thin piece like a Twig. :cool:

Heya Dogs, Merry Christmas and all that good stuff.. hope you're all having a great weekend too so far!

We were slacking the last couple days for some holiday travel but we're back in action now and Underdogette is shipping packages as I type. We still have a little backlog of messages/emails to answer but give us the rest of the day and we should be caught up on those as well. :cool:

Thanks, I bought it in Japan a few years ago along with a bunch of games. I always intend to get a SD2SNES for the titles that required me to read in English but never got around to it :p.

Absolutely loving the mini too guys! Heats up in about 3-5 minutes and works great with the SS tips. I like using it direct draw with the NonG, kind of reminds me of dragging on a joint. The honey locust wood is really nice as well - would really consider it for a full sized UD next time.

I just decided to splurge a little and buy one of the holiday logs, myself! (Thank you for the good wishes, Underdogette!)

I'm really looking forward to trying one of these out. I find the simplicity of its aesthetic and functional design very appealing, and I appreciate the reported efficiency and effectiveness of the device. I like my Air, but I'm looking for something a little stronger and less wasteful for those long hours at home.

I have one question about the Underdog, though. It has needs some time to warm up, so it'd be prudent to leave it on when I'm at home for a significant length of time. The log's appearance is discrete, but I live at home and my room tends to be a tightly-run ship, so I may need to give an explanation of anything left in the open. As such, I'd like to know if I can hide it away when I'm not actively using it.

Is it safe to place the device on its side in a wooden desk drawer? Should I make very certain no combustible or heat-sensitive materials get near it? If it matters, the device I ordered apparently has the air core.

Does the device itself have any scent at all after being used, or is the characteristic stank confined mostly to the vapor and the stems themselves? In other words, if I just leave it on my desk without a stem installed, will the log itself smell of weed?

No you definitely shouldn't put a heated Dog in any enclosed area (like a drawer) or near any combustible/heat-sensitive materials. When running the Dog needs an open area with plenty of air so it can safely bleed off excess heat to maintain it's proper temperature.

It should heat up quickly (<15 minutes) so you could just plug it in when needed. If you want to leave it heated up and in plain sight you can get the Aroma Cups and use it as an essential oil diffuser. :2c:

My family knows I vape and I'm visiting them presently, the underdog is the one vape that nobody has commented on or asked about when it was left out. I believe they are under the impression it is just an aromatherapy diffuser. And unfortunately since I can't vape inside here, house rules, it is essentially just an aromatherapy diffuser.

I knew I should have purchased one of those Aroma cups with mine. What's funny is that my sister actually bought me an ultrasonic essential oils diffuser that looks very much like a log vaporizer; the aroma cup on a dog would be easily explainable at home, I think.

I'm transferring this fall, and I'll probably be in a dorm. Assuming I keep my stash sealed and use an activated carbon sploof, can I leave the UD out there? Do college dorms allow aroma diffusers?

Some do and some don't. And it'll only matter during room inspections if you have those or if your campus living staff will be checking on your room a lot. In college I definitely had things that were against campus rules in my dorm. Nothing illegal as I hadnt discovered that cannabis was medically a major help for me yet. The other factor in a dorm situation would be what your roommate(s) think about cannabis being in/being consumed in your room. If that ends up being a problem the school and campus living are gonna be firmly on the side of your potential roommate(s) who aren't fans of cannabis. But assuming your campus policy and roommates are chill then you'll probably be fine.

That's good to know, thanks. Considering both of the schools I'm interested in have notoriously 420-friendly communities, it should be okay. I plan to do whatever I can to not bother my roommates either way, of course, and would do so even if it weren't a matter of campus rules.

I have an Arizer Air I can use in my car, but the UD is better suited for a desktop. It has a car adapter, but I don't want to have to take a 20-minute drive or run my engine constantly just for a quick session! So, I'll leave indoors if at all possible.

Its appearance is wonderfully discrete, though, and I've been getting pretty good at keeping smells minimized at home.

Just following-up here... I've had my UD for about a week now an I have to say I love this thing! When I ordered I was hoping I would like it, but now that I have it I am in love with it!

A few questions....

I really like the punch of the nylon stems, but the flavor of the glass stems is noticeably better. I am thinking about ordering the stainless steel tips w/ nylon to connect to my glass stem because it seems like it might be the best of both worlds.

1) Am I correct in my logic? Do the tips connect pretty sturdily/seamlessly? Do you like them? Will I end up getting that "punchier" hit the nylon stems provide while getting the flavor of the glass?

2) On to attachments... considering my feelings regarding the glass vs nylon stems, should I get a NonG attachement or get a GonG attachment and add the stainless steel tip? I would expect the flavor difference to be less noticeable in this scenario since there is so much less nylon and so much more distance for the vapor to travel, but I'm curious on other's thoughts...

3) Last, Does anyone have experience with the Stainless steel stem? I saw one positive review a few pages back, just looking for others feedback...

All the reviews of the stainless steel stem that I've seen so far have been positive.

I have heard one or two folks recommend that very steel-glass combo you're proposing there, and that's the stated use for the stainless steel tip on its official description, so I'd say to go for it.

I ordered both a stainless steel stem and tip, myself, though separately - I'll probably have to wait an extra day or two for them to arrive.

Oops, sorry I didn't see this part before my earlier response. The Dog itself shouldn't have any kind of odor other than a very faint hot wood smell. The (used) stems will have an odor but not nearly as bad/strong as combustion tools like pipes, etc. :2c:

Awesome, glad to hear you're enjoying the Dog!

The tips connect pretty easily and pretty sturdily to the glass stems though I guess that's somewhat subjective. They attach and are held in place solely by the pressure and friction of the silicone band that pinched between the tip and glass stem wall. They certainly stay put and don't move around once installed if that's a concern. :2c: I can't really taste the Nylon so to me the taste is the same with anything using the SS tip so someone else will have to chime in on that. The hits will be 'punchy' on any stem using the tips.

NonG vs GonG - I like the Nylon Stems and NonGs the most but again I can't taste a difference so I might not be the best to answer that.

I can taste a difference between the glass, the stainless steel, and the nylon. I like the taste of the stainless steel best, I'm not sure if it'll taste pure enough for you but I prefer it over the nylon stems to the point that the nylons are about to become partially neglected backups or for guests :) I'm not sure if my review was the one you saw, but if you didn't my final recommendation was along the lines of "if you like the nylon stems, youll like this one better, and if you don't like the nylon stems you'll probably still like this one" and I recommended it to anyone with an underdog basically. Sorry if I'm rambly I just had some excellent Tahoe OG and I'm about passing out.
