We need group gatherings, for instructional classes on things like screen changing, herb grinding, and loading stems...
We'd spend the first 10 minutes talking about wood, then forget what was going on and just vape all day..

What is the best way of cleaning the inside of a dirty wood stem?
Here's a tip on how to really clean the inside of your custom wooden stems - take a paper towel and twist it into a tight rope, then feed it into the stem through the mouth-tip end while twisting & pushing it through (it should be a snug fit) ...keep twisting and you will route out any unwanted residual matter - works much better & more thoroughly than with Q-Tips. If you want an even cleaner extraction, use a very thin wash cloth or handkerchief and lightly moisten with alcohol - use twist & route method above and you'll have a fresh showroom-new wood stem! And don't forget to use your UnderButter every now & then to reinvigorate the wood;-) The above works wonders for glass stems too!

Jack Daniels Honey Whiskey is what I use, the after taste is yummy
You may safely use ISO as I've indicated above. The small amount used to lightly moisten the cloth will effectively help to remove the accumulation of resin and debri, and instantly evaporate leaving no ISO trace. Use method above with or without ISO for good cleaning - it's up to you. The honey whiskey recommendation is also a good one.

I think it would be sweet to have one around 7" long... But still only around 2-2.5" wide. Call it the "Mastiff"
Since im typing already.... Do the screens come out of the nylon stems for cleaning/replacing? Or can you just soak the entire stem in ISO?

^^ Thats awesome!! You could fit a whole bunch of heating cores in that, make a community dog.. Longer hookah tube like stems... Extra long extension cord to take it outside, A few guys with camp chairs sit around it and talk about when a dime bag use to cost a dime.... Excellence!!
Earlier i tried out the aromacup with some peppermint oil. Put quite a lot in the cup and let it go for about an hour, maybe 2, i didnt time it.....But I didnt smell anything in the room.. I could smell it directly over the unit but couldnt smell it a few feet away....
I wasnt too worried about it really, after-all, i didnt want the unit as an "Air Freshener" anyway, and it works great as a vape so i just put the aroma cup away and went about my business without thinking about it.
About 20-30 minutes after removing the aromacup my wife comes home, first thing she says when she walks in the door is "it smells great in here!!" The front door is a good 30-40 feet away and in another room from where i had the dog and aromacup...
I guess my nose is just broken, the aromacups seem to work great LOL

No, unfortunately. Even though it says 17v the Econo-Dogs power supply actually delivers nearly 22v to it during operation so a VVPS for one would need to go to at least 22v, maybe 24v to allow for a bit of margin.
The larger Tekpower one that I've posted about before seems pretty reliable, we used to sell them with UDs at one point years back. There are also some functional tattoo ones that are considerably smaller but I have found them to be less reliable.

It's basically the same as the one on your Nano, just for lower power/voltage use and functions the same. Only thing to keep in mind with the dimmers is that they only lower temps and can't raise them. If your Dog runs hot enough for you straight from the wall-wart and you want to cool it a bit then they're great.

Sorry to bump such an old post but since this thread inspired me to buy this dimmer, thought the reply was best suited here. I bought that exact white one that you linked for my Econodog 17v because I was having serious combustion issues. The input fits fine on both the stock power wire and the extension cord but the output won't fit the Econodog's plug :/ . Could I have bought the wrong one? It is just the white dial dimmer, 5v 24v from hitlights you have linked. I don't think I can return it, so if it is the wrong one is there some sort of adapter I can get to make it fit my Econodog?

Unfortunately all the dimmers are 2.1mm and not compatible with the Econo-Dogs 2.5mm power supply, ports and cords. There may be an adapter out there but I haven't seen one personally.
You say it fits the power supply cable and extension cord but not the Dog? A dimmer normally goes between the power cord and the extension (so right in the middle) and never near the Dog. You can try it in the middle but I suspect it's not going to fit/work right.
The best (or only) solution might be for you to string multiple extensions together until you get the temperature drop you're looking for.

Hmm...this would be what I need, but is it safe for my Econodog to have all of these things connected in a row to make the dimmer compatible?

Good find! That should work but will require the dimmer to be right at the Dog end which is a bit kludgy but should be manageable.
Should be completely safe if a bit kludgy (see above) so no worries there.
