i don't know what you mean by the 'newer' versions but i got my UDs few years back, mostly run them 24/7 and they are still running strong!

I've been lurking on the site for a couple weeks while I've been preparing to buy my first vaporizer. I just want to thank everyone in this thread for helping me reach the decision to purchase an UD. I just ordered a rustic maple holiday dog this morning. Can't wait to get that puppy home.

Ud was my first as well been using it for about a month, and love it so much will probably be getting a full size to match my twig. Need some glass too
just got my ud back from my brother, 2 years old this christmas (birthday edition)....1/4" core running 24/7 for a while (appx. 1.5 years) and she still runs a 100 percent. my heating core is a little loose but thats about it. i tell you what, i don't like the silicone any more! I'm gonna order some glass for it asap.

So I wrote Dave an e-mail saying that my old dog is sick, and guess what... he was willing to send a brand new dog to me without hesitation! (And I live in Europe). I only had to make really sure that the problem is in UD and not in the Adapter I was using. I didnt even have to send the unit back, because I was using the old "24/7 core" version so he just sent me a new model. This is what I call customer care! Once you get UD you are Dave's customer and he takes care of you. Let it be an example for other Vaporizer manufacturers.
Immidiatelly after I received the new UD, I was surprised Dave included also glass stem, gong and nylon stem!
This new model is amazing, it preheats faster and I think it reaches higher temp that my old dog did. Sweet.

The very, very early models weren't intended to be run for long periods that's true but all models since the first or second generation pieces were alright for that use. As I've made design changes over the years some of the revisions have turned out to be better or worse from the standpoint of how the wooden body resists the heat. The early ones tended to be especially prone to core loosening, etc. These days all the pieces are ok'd for 24/7 use if that's what the user wants though this may, of course, cut into the units lifespan. Some particular pieces (usually custom ones) that are made of exceptionally expensive or delicate wood I will suggest that people not use them 24/7 but that's still up to them really.

Dave, I am probably going to buy an Underdog vape soon! I like a couple of the ones on the website currently but I was wondering if you were planning a refresh soon? If so, I'll probably wait for it, so I can give myself more to choose from. Really excited to adopt my own dog!

I'm working on piece for a refresh right now along with the Holiday Vapes. I should have the refresh ones done by next weekend and put them up on the website then.

Will do! Can wait to try it. Although I may gift it to someone and pick up the holiday special for myself. Or the other way around. We'll see. The one I'm getting has an ES burned into it. I was told it means 'Early Standard'. Sound accurate?@ arv23 - great, always nice to meet a future fellow-Underdog'er around these parts.

Close, ES stands for Engineering Sample and means it was a prototype that was issued to someone for testing. Not intended to end up out there in circulation but sometimes testers go rogue and/or we lose track of one. If you share a pic when you get it I might be able to give you more info on it.

I have a UD on the way courtesy of kind soul on here who cut me a deal! I'm so excited but don't know much about it other than its efficiency and quality vapor. I'm just posting in here so I can get updates from this thread. It's my first plug in vaporizer. Cheers!

Oh, forgot to add, anyone purchasing a regular priced Underdog while the special is running will be able to add one of the Special Underdogs to their order for $150 extra regardless of the date. They'll also be able to 'upgrade' to Maple or Cherry at no additional charge.

I purchased the Holiday Vape yesterday and I'm really excited to try it out!
Also, I'm super pleased with the customer service as I had a question regarding the stems that was answered immediately through email. It's nice to see how easy it is to communicate with the UD reps as well. Already loving this company!

@ Blazein5 - We're mostly shipping the new GonG Stems now but do have some of the old type left in stock which occasionally get mixed in so its a bit random. If you have a preference then email us and let us know and we'll make sure you get the kind you want, at least while supplies of the old style ones last.
