Tornado by Vestratto

If anybody could be so kind as to share the OD and length of the "Vestratto" interface that attaches to the WPA section, I could post some renders and check some prices.

Previously I was thinking of just doing a universal 8MM stem available for conversion with an adapter, but I think it'd be just as easy to just make it Tornado specific if that's what folks would like to see. Most people seem to be saying they aren't going back to their Anvil so I'd rather make something more relevant for right now.

Please chime in if you'd rather see something Tornado specific or if you prefer the versatility of a standard 8MM connection.

Appreciate the kind words friend!
I would prefer the wider range of options that a 8mm stem would provide rather than a Vestratto-specfic option, thanks.

Yeah see that’s what I don’t like, I’d rather have it secure and use a tool to remove than have it slightly loose. Personal preference I suppose. Years of being a keen cyclist has drilled an odd sense of anxiety into me if things aren’t fully tight and there’s a rattle  Obviously not the same thing but old habits die hard!
No matter how old it is, this habit will die immediately after your first serious heat lock 😄 The Tornado locks much harder than the Anvil, in fact you‘ll probably need pliers in addition to a hex key or wrench to unlock it. I also like all my devices rattle free, but after the second heat lock I never fully screwed in the bowl again.

I love the idea of a hex key inside a donut magnet though 👍

I don’t know how feasible this is in a manufacturing sense but I’ve had an idea for a bowl remover that’ll help deal with the binding up until it cools that some are experiencing.

So it’s quite simple. This magnet is a popular accessory for the Anvil. It would basically be this with a slight tweak. In the centre of the magnetic surface would be a “nub” that is a hex key. It would magnetically attach to the bowl and the hex key part would then slot into the socket on the bowl. Would give much more leverage (is that the right term?) to unscrew the bowl with, and of course the magnet to quickly reset the clickers and help draw heat away from the oven and bowl. Maybe some ridges further up or a T shaped handle to give extra grip when turning too.

Perhaps it’s a silly high idea but thought I’d share :p
No, it's not a silly idea. I have been approached in the past by someone wanting the same thing made but for one of the previous Vestratto models. Unfortunately, the customer had a change of heart and it never made it off the drawing board. Perfectly feasible if it's something you'd like pursued.

Hey Everyone, just jumping into the thread as a newbie.
Absolutely LOVING the tornado this device is epic, so much so that i produced my first How-To video / review ever :D :

Really enjoying playing with this device but did have one heat thread lock that needed a hex key to open it back up, the rattle is annoying @eyevape but no where near as annoying as that lockup lol!

Yeah, it’s pretty thin.. not ideal.
Oh bollocks. I did look at the photos of it after you mentioned and it did look a little thin. That’s a shame but I’m sure I’ll work something out.

Now you’re scaring me! I’ve had some utterly brutal heat locks with the original Dani v3 models, it was quite well known for it. If it’s as bad as that or worse then I totally understand now. A small hex key and magnet on a key chain might be a worthwhile investment then.

That’s a shame they didn’t go through with it, I think it’s potentially a handy little tool. Well if it’s not something you’re planning to do as a general sale item then I think I’ll hit you up to get one made when I get my adapter off you in the future. Cheers man!

PHASE3
Manufacturer
OD is 0.439” (11.15mm), length is 0.527” (13.38mm). ID is 0.384” (9.76mm) and depth of ID is 0.364’ (9.1mm). These are all digital caliper measurements and this part varies in size due to manufacturing processes.

@invertedisdead
The measurements I was given are:
Outside diameter of bowl is 11mm, inside diameter is 9.5mm. The total depth of bowl on outside is 13mm and inner depth is 9mm.

Note- Trying to measure the ID with callipers is somewhat prone to error. Ideally needs to measured with a bore gauge. When I finally receive my Tornado, I'd be happy to post my own readings.

Cheers friends, greatly appreciate your assistance

In hindsight I probably should have just asked for the OD on the male joint component since that's the end I'm trying to match and would have tolerance control over.

But based on the dimensions you kind folks supplied for the Tornado head, I'm guestimating the male jointed base is ~9MM OD, with 1MM wall O rings, ~half recessed, which is then being compressed into the ~9.5-9.76 female head?

What’s your vision for a stem? I’d definitely be interested in a tornado specific one

It's a new high surface area design I came up with based on fluid expansion.
Currently the design is 4" (100MM) long with over 8" squared of internal surface area.

The idea is to do something effective in function but simple enough to manage the price point.

I'll try to post some initial renderings briefly, I just need to finish up a few things.

Appreciate your interest FC!

Only way I have used the device to this point. Works well enough, but does throttle down to 60 or 70 W, depending on depth of insertion.

I'm noticing a trend for wand users to do multiple heat ups to finish the bowl.

Are torch users managing to do one and done heat ups? Even with full bowl?

Absolutely. It’s not difficult to achieve one and done heat ups with a torch IMO. I don’t use the Tornado (or the Anvil) any other way. You don’t need a particularly large flame to do it either. I use the Ronxs/Cadrim or Blazer Firefox and have them both turned down pretty low.

I only do one heat-up cycle with the Wand at the maximum setting. It takes 17-18 seconds for the first click and 21-22 seconds for the second click. If I wait until the second click, I can clear the bowl in a single draw.
Yes, I can believe this. I don't think it would taste really great so this is why I don't attempt it but if you just want a lung buster to get lifted really quick it's doable.

I'm much happier to get 3-4 big tasty draws to finish a full bowl.

I'm not looking for taste from the Tornado. I have some amazing tasting vapes already. I want a big bowled, conduction, heavy hitting portable thay can survive being ran over. I want one huge cloud and the bowl to be spent in a hit. That would be awesome.

I think you'll be pleased then. The Tornado is definitely capable of this but don't sleep on the flavor. It can be a very tasty vape too.
