Omicron cart - worked great for a hour then returned to normal omi performance.. - pretty weak now.

I wonder if the persei carts would work?

For everyone talking about the metal taste:

If you really use this thing hard, you have to clean it every 2-3 days. And by clean I mean soak overnight in iso, boil for 10-20 minutes, bake at 200, then with a fresh battery, hold for 20 secs, release for 20, 20 TIMES. I know, serious pain in the ass. Get extra batteries and an extra cart if you are committed. I did but it turned out my first cart was shitty (after an awful lot of being convinced that it wasnt by customer support). The new cart fires hard. Kinda bummed about the $$ on the first weak cart but learning curve's a bitch -

Anyway, do that, and your yummy taste will return. This thing is so clear tasting, I can taste anything nasty in any oil, and for that matter, I think im done with oil (food/med grade solvents are just not available to stoners). Fortunately, you can get moderately acceptable performance with full melt bubble, but nothing to write home about.

It's time for me to try the Solo, I'm feelin el-natural....

Yeah, I'm hoping cleaning it really good will get the metallic taste out. I didn't want to contact TV until I did that at least. But the metallic taste never left. I don't have a problem letting it soak every week or two to clean it, and I figured it was kind of like a pipe, in the sense that the taste will erode with usage without cleaning the piece. But I don't use metal pipes because I'm not too fond of the metallic taste, and I too read somewhere or saw on a YouTube video that there was a breaking in period to get rid of that taste. I was hoping it would be gone after the first couple of loads...fingers crossed it will go away after a good cleaning.

A couple of comments:

The heating element (for the sake of this conversation) on the Revolution should be thought of like a high quality cast iron frying pan.

Now when you first start using the frying pan it is freshly forged, clean metal, when it is heated you can smell, and taste the "new metal" in the food. Despite this, cast iron pans, grills, griddles, etc. are considered the Gold Standard in terms of cook surfaces that do not impart flavor to the food. The process of the new metal maturing is called "seasoning" by some.

The Revolution heating core undergoes the same process. Much like the frying pan, it is built to perform for the long term, and to settle in to having consistent and reliable performance and flavor.

A few tricks that will help:

After your initial break in period of using the Revolution, give it a good cleaning. Soak in IPA for 5-10 minutes. Then boil for 5-10 minutes. Rinsing under warm water (when it is cooled down enough to touch) after the boil. A tooth brush can be used to loosen anything stubborn, rinse any loosened debris out of the unit under warm water.

Then let your revolution dry overnight. Or with the mouthpiece removed, place it in a oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes (maybe less if you have blown out some of the remaining water).

Now, with a clean and dry Revolution and fresh batteries, follow these steps:

1. Turn on the Revolution for 20 seconds (the Revoltuon is NOT loaded) this is a dry burn.

2. Let cool for a minute (maybe less)

3. Turn on the Revolution for 20 seconds (the Revoltuon is NOT loaded) this is a dry burn.

4. Let cool for a minute (maybe less)

Repeat for 5-10 cycles. This should serve to restore your Revolution to prime condition and should conclude the break in period of the Revolution.

The Revolution components are inert and built to operate at temperatures that exceed the operating temperature of the device, we specifically use a wire that should not/will not impart any flavor characteristics into the vapor once it has broken in. It is the act that we know exactly, to the validated material specifications what the Revolution is made from, that we have so much confidence that the Revolution will to contribute flavor to your vapor. Once the wire settles down and is broken in, the only other materials are nickel plated (a medial device grade finish that hardens with heat exposure) and completely inert medical device grade porous and structural ceramics (so pure they are used in medical implants!).

Please try the tips suggested and let me know if it works. The Revoltuon should give you consistent and enjoyable vapor and flavor (dependent on the material) and if it is not let us know. We will take care of you.

Hope that helps!

Cheers,

So

how did this work out for you? I never knew I could add an omicron cart to my thermo. Any down side?

Please be aware of what voltage battery you are combining with what OM omicron cartridge if you plan to use it on your REV battery. If you have the 6v battery you need the 4om cart, if you have the 3.7 battery in there, 1.5-2.4om carts. If you use the standard 2.4om cart on 6v it will burn out very quickly.

To ThermoVape: How likely is it that we'll ever see a heating core without the side window? It seems most people top-load, and find the window a sticky lint-attracting annoyance. I know it's my only complaint to this great device, and that if a windowless version were made available I would purchase one without hesitation and save my current one as a backup.

Great so after I place my order, there are a bunch of complaints about taste :( I hope mine does not have any taste issues.

I use a Ti nail & Ti skillet/dome/curve to vaporize oils, is this off taste the same as the off taste you get with a new titanium or is it stronger? (I'll know once my device arrives but would apperciate to know in advance)

Also what WIRE? needs to be "broken in" to avoid smell? Its kind of like those vapes that have a "break in" period for their plastics to not smell. (Shouldn't all the materials be smell-less except for the heating element? Please do elaborate.)

What ever the case may be, I know TV will take care of those with issues.

I seriously doubt it, it's considered propitiatory information (or at least was when I visited them and asked in person). Based on the needs and Material Science I eventually got it (in not too many guesses, really, all stuff they'd considered). I'm not telling, of course (part of the agreement) but for the use there are a lot of alloys that will do the job safely. They've just gone 'top shelf' with the material (OK since there's really very little in each unit) looking for ultimate stability and long life. No expert I know would fault them there.

I recall we joked a bit about 'you could use Platinum, but only the Government could afford them then'.

The ceramic core is also something very special (and far from cheap), but again not much mass in each unit. As a guess those cores are probably the most expensive parts (more so than the machined and plated bodies) but if one wants the best material for the job you pay the freight. The porous ceramic that makes up the body is also specialized, something like shuttle tiles seems to me, but of a more routine material. Again, it came out of a really hot furnace, it's pretty inert.

Sorry to be kind of vague, but I hope you also understand why that is?

Thanks for the tips TV, you saved me from having to watch that video again for the 3rd time. And I'm sure your right (at least I hope you are), that's why I haven't contacted you yet. I want to make sure everything has been properly done on my end first.

But yeah, I have complete confidence in this company. You seem very customer oriented and have yet to not take care of people's issues (at least from what I know). So I will definetely follow that advice and let the community know how it goes. I just figured I would use a little bit of hard candy in there before the cleaning commenced. Then I will know how impure my kif is, lol. Anyway, thanks again, and good luck everyone!

When I first used my Revolution the metallic taste was there. Went away after a few uses. I cleaned it after a weeks use by soaking in iso overnight and boiling it. After it was dry the first five or six uses had a really bad metallic taste. I emailed thermvape and they replied with the explanation posted above. I hung in there and eventually the bad taste went away and the flavor of your concentrate really comes through. I would say the flavor is just as good as the first hit off a Eclipse H20. I use a high quality wax that leaves very little residue. I have used it for over a month now without cleaning it and the flavor of the first hits are really good. I don't think I will try cleaning it again unless a run a lower grade concentrate that leaves more residue.

For those that still have the bad taste I hope it goes away soon so you can truly enjoy your Revolution. The effectiveness combined with the flavor it can deliver will make it a daily user if the taste issues can be sorted out. It does not take much to give you a series of good hits that leave you nicely medicated.

I am interested to see how effective the new filter is in cooling down the vapor. I use a glass dropper tip to get bigger hits because I find it runs to hot and irritates my throat if I want to take bigger hits without it. The fact that you can saturate the filter with water sounds like it could really be what I need.

So a quick question for you experts at cleaning your rev...when soaking in ISO, boiling, and heating in the oven, are you talking about just the 2 pieces that you load in, or does that include adaptor that has the switch on it? I know the mouthpiece just needs to be soaked in iso, but what about the switch....thx everyone.

I do just the cart, and usually only the lower part (the top wipes clean). Under no conditions would I wash or boil the switch. If you wash some kaka in there (and you will eventually) there's no way to wash it out again. I'd keeping mine clean and dry.

SO I have been doing some reading and had some questions:

Got these carts to use with a 510->601 thread adapter on my Thermovape Revolution at 6v power. Using wax like extracts works perfectly, thinner oils will leak out the bottom but that's a minor quip (what I have the revolution for). Colled carts ate usually plugged up at first but a quick 2-5 second prime and it's good to go with hits that are fairly large and concentrated. Favorite carts thus far in the release of new technology. A+ Delta 9 (FROM 3.0ohm carts on Delta 9 site)

Why do people use the carts on the TV when they have a Revolution Concentrate piece. I have not received my vape but is there any advantages of doing so?

Thats my review heh. They are two different beasts and am happy to have both kind of carts in my arsenal. In terms of vapor production I don't think the 3 ohm cart can be beat on a rev. I also like that I can load a bowl in my rev but still have a cart with a gram of wax in it for whenever I need it (I have a sativa and and indica cart) or if I run out on the rev.

LOL its a small world after all, so where did you purchase the 510 to 610 adapter from? (Is it from Gentlemen's Vapes) can you send a lilnk. This forum has me blowing through my finances on products. (Also how would you compare the 3ohm vs. 4 in the TV).

Someone could potentially just buy the http://thermovape.com/collections/all/products/adapter-interface
and some carts. I like Thermovape and will continue to support them for their products

I know TV is using higher quality parts and a different heating element but in practical use what are some noticeable difference between the two? (If you were blind folded and took hits off the different configurations what would make each of stand out from one another? (I have yet to try the Rev or the Omicron) I am asking because my Revolution is on its way and I actually wanted another TV concentrate "cart(?)" so I can have one for daytime n nighttime but seems like the carts at $10 a piece are hard to ignore. (BTW how much is the adapter)

Sorry for the tremendous amounts of questions, I have been vaping haha...

There's a huge difference (at least potentially) in the concentration of the hits. I load my Revolution small, 50 or so mg at a shot. I get half a dozen or so serious hits from that, say 10 mg each. The Omicron delivers something close to 300 hits per gram typically, a third that. A lot of the time Omicron isn't even delivering that much. One's having a few beers, the other slamming down shots. Omicron is also nice in that it holds a lot of oil and you don't have to add more as you go. Then again, I don't find loading the Revolution to be any problem at all really. As has been said, I can see a place for both. In fact, Omicron carts for use with the Revolution might even take the place of a Persei for some users. I for one am not planning on buying the Persei since I can get stronger hits than I usually want or need with the Revolution and have a couple of Omicrons that serve well.

My adapter is well made and low cost (not always found together):

Yes, I see no reason why you can't do just that. I run the normal 2.4 ohm Omicron carts (originals), but I'm also running 3.7 volts in the Revolution (not the normal six). If you're going to run six volts the 4 ohm carts for Persei are probably the call. The 2.4 ohm ones would be a classic James Dean (except for leaving the pretty corpse part, I don't find carts all that pretty burned out or not).

So noticeable difference would be the hit size? (Also OF do you find yourself going to the T1 or the Rev more often?)

I wouldn't put it that way exactly. One of the differences is hit size. They load and you hit them differently amongst other differences. There aren't the priming and clog issues with Revolution you find with Omicron. And a HUGE advantage is Revolution will work on darn near any concentrate including kief and low grade bubble hash. Omicron is pretty picky what you feed it, basically top end BHOs, waxes and the like only. His size is probably the difference most important to most guys though.

T1 and Revolution are two entirely different machines IMO. Like asking a guy if he drinks Scotch more often than beer, both are similar and all but how one guys personal taste carries over to the next I can't fathom. But since you ask, I've lately been doing oil in Omicron and Revolution about equally I guess. More hours with Omicron, more weight of oil with Revolution probably. For herb I'm off on another tack these days. Some Iolite but mostly MFLB and Vapman (really fun lately). I haven't used the T1 in a couple of weeks. Not that that won't change of course......

The 3 will run hotter than the 4. My advice for new guys is go with the lower power (higher ohms) choice until you learn what you're doing. The warnings on the web site are real, you should pay attention to them. They will give you plenty of clouds for your medication and learning needs if not for your ego.....

There was a chart from the maker, but I think it's been taken off line (it was on PV's site) for modification. For now D9V lists either value for six volts, I'd go with four....maybe even the fives. They're still much stronger than the stock Omicron carts (by almost twice).

Yeah figured I should chime in so people would know more. Got my adapter from Gentleman's but any should work, going to eventually pick up a couple more so I can leave them tightened on each cart because they do wobble in a bit until fully tightened up, not the easiest thing to try and do with sore hands.

I've not used the 4 ohms but I am really happy with the output of the 3 ohms, very hot very fast, easy quick strong hits that fill the lungs or long drawn out ones that are cough inducing, your choice. Really hoping I can get the glass whip and filter to work on these carts as well. If I was blindfolded I would know its an Omicron because the carts I am using at 6 volt produces very thick distinct vapor. I still like the taste in the Revolution overall and often fill the omicron carts part way and save a little to use in the Rev, little goes a long way anyways.
