Discontinued ThermoVape Revolution for concentrates

How old are your batteries and what sort of concentrate are you using?
i've got a few different batteries and even on my Lavatube battery it's the same. It's a pretty clean budder that worked fine in the Dart when I first got it.
If you are seeing red, it must be heating but not primed correctly. Once the concentrate gets to the coil you will not see red anymore but vapor. You need more concentrate to melt in?
The problem is I put a dab on the Rev and it doesn't even melt in at all. Seems like the Dart only melts in right now and bubbles a little but not much vapor. My last batch wasn't as clean so like I said, maybe the Dart could use a boil but the Rev is totally virgin.

My money's on a concentrate problem. How does it do on the Foil Test?

Revolution and DART are identical at this level, the difference is one has been used some and therefore has some liquid stored in the pores. The other is dry ceramic. Dry ceramic is a good insulator. A much poorer transporter of heat to the budder that's just sitting on top. Until it melts and is absorbed into the reservoir you haven't a chance. Oils have a serious advantage here.

So, how about that Foil Test?

TIA

whenever I've had problems like that it's usually been the concentrate

This is actually my cleanest concentrate yet right now, leaves virtually no residue in my vape pens, on the Rev, I swear it is literally sitting on top of the ceramic and just does not melt in, the cart certainly gets hot though.

To be clear I'm not so concerned with the Dart because it did work as I expected to start with so I can only believe it will work that way again with the proper cleaning. My main concern is the Rev.

So, I am sure it is not the concentrate, as it works in the Dart. Assuming that TET is pretty good at their job it's probably safe to say they did the job correctly. I'll have to keep fiddling with it I guess, hopefully I'll figure it out :(

So, OK, we disagree. As I said I don't think working somewhat in your DART is useful evidence. It's your gear, money and call.

If the Revolution glows when heated, it's almost certainly fine. Hot enough to glow is plenty of heat so unless the ceramic is all wrong (zero chance of the plate and ring both at the same time IMO) it has to be concentrate not 'wetting' the surface, a common problem in Cera EO and not unheard of in Revolution/DART.

In troubleshooting one looks for new factors. The last batch worked better than this one?

I still recommend seriously questioning the concentrate, actually running a Foil Test carefully and if possible substituting concentrates. Budders are known to cause problems with 'not melting in well'. If you were looking for advice (which I thought you were), there's mine again, ignore it as you see fit.

Good luck with it.

If it doesn't melt straight down you need to draw slowly on it. Stuff like CO2 oil pretty much seeps down into the ceramic and down to the heating element/reservoir ceramic with the slightest heat. Some concentrates don't like heating up and saturating without a lot more heat, in my experience it's been the concentrates with more plant waxes that are a bit of a pain. You need to draw slowly to get the heat from the core to get to the top ceramic and the concentrate. That warms them up and lets it flow easier. I'm betting it works well in your other pens because you can apply directly to the coils with other types of setups.

Thank you sir, you hit it directly on the head, with the smaller target area it doesn't touch the ceramic so much on its own. I had to take a couple deep draws to get it loaded and now everything works as should.

Now that thermovape is going out of business, does anyone know where I can get a revolution cartridge or equivelent? I love the ceramic puck style cartridge, and really hate the coil style.

My revolution cartridges aluminum sadly split down the side and no longer holds its mouthpiece in place

Sorry to hear you're having trouble, but TV is long gone. Resold at least twice, now owned by RJR.....

A mouth split on the tube (and I'm pretty sure it's nickle plated brass) might be fixed with a brass tube (like from the hobby shop) pressed on from below. In extreme cases you can force the tube out of round (to put pressure in just the right spot to close the gap).

IMO as long as the heater and ceramic are intact, IMO it's worth some effort.

Good luck with it.

Vaporenvy still sells older thermovape products. They rock!

Cool, must be 'new old stock'. Sure to disappear, but an opportunity for some.

Remember, there's no warranty unless you get it from them. And no place to 'send it to' for service.

This is old news. I bought a couple avas and the last dart loader they had almost a year ago.

Bummer, not unexpected of course, but I guess I can close the link and forget about getting another back up then.....

The idea and hope were good while they lasted.

Thanks for the word......I think.

OF,
Is the ava the same cartridge as the dart with a different mouthpiece? Just want to make sure this is for wax not liquid stuff

Yes, if you could still get it, it's useful for wax. Some of the earlier ones were different power and were 'only OK' for concentrates, but with Revolution/DART development that was upgraded to the same as used there IIRC. In fact, for a while, some DARTs were made with "AVA" marked tubes when the regular ones ran out.

Since this product offering is not real (they don't have any left), it's very hard to say exactly which version you can't get from them........

So no one makes a similar ceramic puck style cartridge? What did everyone move on to then?

There has to be something better than a coil out there

The Persei with the Herc sr74 seems to be the current direction in the non-coil concentrate vaporizer evolution. I'm not sure it's better, but the company is still in business and churning out product. OF, what do you think of the Persei/Herc relative to the Thermovape and Cera?

Only one I know is Zoly, a Chinese 'copy' of the Revolution. Interchangeable mechanical parts but the wrong batteries, heater wire, and (most importantly) ceramic. The latter is not porous. I got mine in a LHS, but can't recommend it (or I would have).

All the options I know about are exposed coil, however there are some nice ceramic core version and Ti and other fancy heaters exist. I'm using a 'Dabbler' version (Vapor Warehouse IIRC) right now. Not sure if I'm sold on the Ti element part, but it's a great LAYG cart (and 510 thread), it just holds less than DART so you need to reload about twice as often.

Beats me, I gave up on mine after the first few emergency upgrades. I never did get it going.

Definitely not in the same class as Revolution/DART IMO. It takes a Persei to run it. And, I think, a lot to fill it up?

OF,
Thanks OF, Its disappointing and baffling to see good technology disappear and a good company go out of business. They must have been paid out well for it though.

The herc is what I keep hearing about, so this is the top of the line and not everyone likes it still? Whats the competition for alternatives like the herc? The dabbler website shows a coil (and wick?) so Id probably like to steer clear of that direction, I just got a gentlemens vape pen and and their atomizers, and wow they suck...

I agree, I can't recommend 'Gentlemen's' either. However, like I said, if you shop a bit you'll find similar versions with no wicks and Titanium coils. FWIW that seems to address all the issues commonly put forward.

Hercules his huge relatively, both in size and power needs......also, of course, vapor production. Generally, I think, way more production than you're looking for, surely more than Revolution/DART was up to on a routine basis. Cera EO is more on par with Hercules, or a bit ahead?

I just revisited my trusty Revolution last night, and all I can say is that I hope it keeps going for a very long time. I'm just babying it at this point hoping to prolong its life as long as possible. I like the Dabbler ok, but it's not even in the same class

To be clear I'm not talking about the Dabbler vape (although I have and kinds like it...), the one I'm using on an 'Ego-T upgrade' supply:
http://www.vaporwarehouse.com/site/vaporbrothers-dabbler-tube-heater.html

I like the physical size, ease of loading and the fact the glass is very thick (tough).

But I'm using the heater from this guy:
http://www.vaporwarehouse.com/site/vaporbrothers-glass-globe-heater.html

to get Titanium (rather than Inconel, which IMO is just fine) and ceramic rather than glass wick.

FWIW, I consider this the same class since it's also a 510 cart, able to be driven by any number of modest vape 'batteries' rather than a high power monster with funny threads that needs a ton of battery to make it go (from one maker, basically).

There are still AVA's and windowed Rev's at Vapor Envy. How would it be using an AVA without a DART loader and only the short mouthpiece for oils? Any splatter issues? Enough restriction for good vapor density?

How about the Pure Flow? Too much restriction? Better off just using the Smooth Flow? I know they always said that the Smooth Flow didn't have restriction but in my experience with T1 and Evo it has a little compared to the short and long drip-tips.

Cheers

I have used my Dart's, AVA's without the dart loader for a long time, I have no issues whatsoever, and prefer them this way! I use a standard delrin mouthpiece, or the ones that Thermovape used to sell.
