I've been following this forum and greatly appreciate all of your info and honesty. IMO the quality, along with the simplicity, made this a must for me.
I've already placed my pre order and left a message in the comment section regarding the safety switch option, as I'm undecided, due to not knowing what the options are, exactly?
I have spoken to your customer service and some emails. but they're not sure either.
Could you explain, or include it in a video.
I'd hate to have this hold up my order. just can't wait!
Also, he was unsure on the black silicone covers. Will they be shipping with the units?

If this is a topic of interest, other forums dedicated to e-cigs, such as ecf have covered this in great detail. The concern for the production for acrolein from glycerol degradation has been a subject of active debate in the e-cig comunity for many years.

This process is not happening in any of our atomizers or cartridges. I do not type well enough to go into too much detail but the general concept of why this does not occur in our devices is simple (I am not saying it occurs in other carts, I just do not make them, test them, or own the IP, so I will not speak to those products).

First, know the production of acrolein is not subtle. It smells as if there were just a grease fire, pungent, obvious, and unpleasant. You WOULD notice.

Second, although glycerol will degrade to acrolein at 280 degrees C or 536 degrees F. That number can be deceiving. It is the direct application of temperature to glycerol in a controlled way, heating the mass to that temperature, while stabilizing the glycerol to prevent evaporation prior to the degradation event resulting in the acrolein as a byproduct/product. You have to prevent/avoid/mitigate the glycerol becoming a vapor (evaporating) at lower temperatures in order to produce acrolein from glycerol. What do I mean by this? Well glycerol is unstable at temperatures at or above 220 C or 428 F. So if you want to produce acrolein the glycerol must be stabilized (this is a big field as the stabilization glycerol at high (>220 C = 428 F) temperature is used in the production a lot of stuff, from fuel to food, so I am not going to cover it).

So in order to generate acrolein from glycerol, other steps must be taken, other then just exposing the glycerol to 280 degrees C or 536 degrees F. Why? Because it is unstable at temperatures below that, meaning that in an uncontrolled, open system, glycerol will evaporate before degrading.

Our cartridges are not capable of containing, and stabilizing the glycerol in a way that would allow us to produce acrolein.

However we cannot produce acrolein out of our cartridge. It is not the correct system, it i neither closed, nor controlled.

Also, just to mention, if we could make a device that produced acrolein, we would, and we would try and sell or license that technology as acrolein is a valuable industrial precursor that is challenging to produce. So if our patented technology was able to produce acrolein then we would explore that field as it would be another way we would use our technology to generate revenue. We would then use that money to build the Cera Mini in 6 months, rather then 12 months from now. However we are inthe vapor producing business, and not the acrolein producing business. Probably more money in acrolein as it is very popular ingredient in expensive biocidal agents.



That is part of our patented technology, and years of experience building cartridges. We are very proud, that still to this day, we are the only manufacture of a commercially available e-cig atomizer that is 100% made in the USA and 100% an American invention, all other high production atomizers come from China and our a different technology. I am not sure that I can explain this without a power point presentation and a half an hour, it is actually more complex then it may seem.

The proof is in the vapor, the vapor should be the right temp, and delicious, and for VG we think that is just mildly warm. If your VG vpor tastes great, qualitavley you can assume there is no way acrolein is in their, as you would smell and tase it, even in small amounts as it is VERY pungent.



I have worked for the last decade in human medicine, new technology development, and co-inventing, co-developing, and manufacturing harm reduction devices to allow people more options, for the use of non-combustion vaporization, as an alternative to smoking.


I have a Medical Doctorate and I am a physician. I also have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry, a Bachelor of Science Degree in Molecular and Cell Biology, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Sciences/Pre-medical studies (although I still cannot type or spell).

My lifelong best friend and business partner is the other half of this effort, he is a Nuclear Engineer by training. Together we have multiple (>15) approved patents, and patents pending on vaporizer technology. We both have committed ourselves to the work of building vaporizers, and hoping we can play a role in helping people use vaporizers to never smoke again.

My mother died of lung cancer in 2007, she is the original inspiration for this effort. Her death, and my knowing how hard she tried to quit smoking, is the reason that I am building vaporizers, and not in a hospital taking care of patients. My personal goal is to build the vaporizer I wish I could of handed my mother, in time for her to have quit smoking, and lived.

That is very impressive. Even though I didn't mean for you to explain all of that I am glad you did. I love to learn. I knew you had to have a mess load of degrees and had to be way more then I have. Isn't it true that all of us with higher education can't write or spell? I wish I had a doc like you cause I am in my situation of being a para because of a doc but such is life. First, thank you.

I will have a video up clearly demonstrating the safety switch. We are making it removable, so if you do not want it, you can take it out and put it on your keychain. We must do this to insure that the Cera will work with 18650's not produced by us.

Video of the silicon sleeve will be up too. we have this in black so far. Working with a company accross the bay in Oakland to get the silicon thin enough to be easily applied. This will be a Thermal Condom, and you would take it pn and off, like a condom. This provides thermal insulation and additional impact protection, making the device even more durable. We have the silicon piece for the cap designed such that only the tip of the mouthpiece is not shielded. This means that the Cera with this installed, wll directly engage and seal with virtually every piece of glass we can find. the device itself becomes a universal glass adapter. Pretty cool. Green is my next color of material we want, white Si also looks pretty sharp. Video is on the cue.

We will keep the cost low, hopefully create some extra work for a local company and delivery an affordable, high quality (USA made FDA Approved Si) accessory.

This is our policy, if there is a accessory people want, and we can make that accessory here in the USA, we will do it. I think our history of building accessories based on customer requests, with our previous products is a reflection of that commitment.

No, we will make sure anyone who wants one will get it. Everyone who pre-ordered one of our Cera's that is shipping before Christmas will be contacted and given the option of adding any of these last minute accessories.

Rest assured we will be spending all of next week making sure everyones order is good to go, including making sure nothing was missed, they get the opportunity to add stuff. We are on schedule to get these in your hands before Christmas. We want everyone to get exactly the Cera they want. We will do everything we can to make sure that happens, down to the last device. OH wow I wish I can eat 1200 cals a day and not gain weight. I guess it is because I can't do much but my metabolism was always slow. Even when I was an athlete I had to diet how sad.

I can't wait for the pretty skins...you know the non-stealth ones hehe. That would be soooooooo kewl on the mini. Yooooooo slim here is your changing colors that you wanted on the pax.

Speaking of slim you must have some opinions so far even though they aren't fully formed. Tell us something like maybe you like the look something please.

I have a question that many of you might be able to answer. Can you use EO in the LL?

No you can't there to runny and will mess it up and I don't believe it gets hot enough to be totally efficient but the loose leaf can be used with hash, kif, derivatives that have plant matter to them and don't turn to liquid when heat I applied.

Sorry let me clarify it can be used with those derivatives when there mixed with herb like kif cause its powdery but I believe OF said in his one post that he vaped hash in it straight with awesome reults

ThermoVape may chime in but from what has been said in this thread is that next week everyone who ordered will be contacted (e-mail? phone?) and will be offered the accessories that never made it to the web site. The black silicone sleeve will be affordable (at or under $20 if I recall correctly). They are not offering it for free due to the heat issues. The heat issues are due to leaving the device on for an extended period of time. Say 5 minutes of on time the top of the device closest to the heat core is getting warm but the bottom of the device is not. If you leave it on for say 7-10 minutes the bottom of the device will start to get warmer. You always have the option of taking 3-5 hits in 3-5 minutes and can always shut it off to prevent it from getting warm / too hot for your comfort level. The whole device won't instantly get too hot to hold in 5 minutes. Just turn the device off if you want to take a 5 minute break and then come back to a cooled down device.

Imagine a thin, high grade silicon covering over the ceramic body of the Cera, and the mouthpiece. Many colors will be available.

A video will be coming soon, it will be clear in just a few seconds of video, and would probably take me all night to describe in text.

Plus, for those of you that would like it to look more like a sex toy, this certainly does the trick...

However, it also makes it cool, even tougher, a future of many color options (you name it), a univeral glass adapter to everthing, and it is inexpensive, high qaulitty, and made int he USA.
