What is the difference with the mad heaters head ?

Check the Tempest thread for full details - but the short version is different size & temperature indicators - the Madheaters head has 80x 2mm balls VS the TA3 which has 70x 3mm balls and the Madheaters cap has a visual temperature indicator and click discs.

I know the tempest : I have one since 1 week. I would like to have the feeling of somebody that have both (air flow, heat retention etc). Just to know if it is worth buying a TA3 if you have the mad heaters head.

Could someone who owns a TA and a Tempest check if the the TA fits in the wand adaptor for the Tempest please? I'm really interested in the TA3, but I wanna use it with the wand and I don't wanna have to keep taking the adaptor out and putting it back for switching between the 2. I've seen the video of piggie heating the TA3 with the wand on IG, he doesn't use an adaptor and pushes it in so far so that the middle of the TA3 is what's heating. If it sat in the adaptor I'm imaging you could also make it work but setting the temp higher and letting it sit till timeout and the low power portion of the heat cycle might let the heat distribute amoung the balls (assuming it fits in the adaptor)?

I think Phatpiggie was talking about the Wand adapter for the TA1, the newer version might work with the Tempest adapter.

The MagSink will probably cool the TA quicker than the MH Reload because of the cooling fins but other than that I'd say they'll work the same.

I think you'll find that all the TA's (beta, 1, 2, 3 & 4) will behave differently, even more so for those with variable airflow vents.
I'd make sure you know which is being compared to the pest.
Also, I think they've only started dropping yesterday, so peeps will need a few days to play around and get the hang of them first (especially those never used the betas).

The glass adapter comes with the pest also fits the TA (I've just received a 3) nicely, but it'll be the heating position that may well need playing with to get the correct part of the head heated.

The upper magnet fits nicely, but no grip to unscrew. Maybe be worth using the silicon cap to loosen the head a tiny bit first so it easily unscrews on the Reload.

I doubt PP would have included them if they just melted onto a hot TA head!

Confirmed from a UK order. Also a screwdriver for the adjustables to tighten and loosen them.


So as you may have guessed mine dropped today, a shiny T3, time travelled back from the future to eliminate me!

And boy, am I drawn to a black Revolve G2, which Balint most generously added (for free) the ebony wood sleeve (musta remembered my nagging him about using it with TA!) and a free cleaning tube on top. Plus all the goodies from PP as promised, it's better than xmas! (hell, who needs a working car anyway?).
But on putting all that together following a spruce up in iso and a heat clean for the TA head & bowl, it looks bloody lovely!
I was half wondering whether I ought to get this having a Tempest already, but just the aesthetics alone are gorgeous and complimentary, and I think the profile of use will be quite different from the pest. We shall see.
Seriously considering proposing to it soon! Need to pop that cherry just to make sure, but I'm already booking a visit to the tattooists!

You just remove the lower screen, same as the original and 1/2 heater matrix, although they have different screen secure notch ledge system depending on the model

Damn that sucks, yeah when someone was asking about it, if this would be melt safe, someone said it wouldn't be included if there was a risk... But that piece is moreso designed just to hold and remove the hot cap, I don't think it was specifically said it could work well for the wand before now

How did you get the TA in the skullcandy insert, I found it didn’t fit (although I didn’t try very hard )?

Just checked again, I don’t see how the TA fits, it is too wide for the insert?

I think there's a newer version of the SK insert that's wider to accommodate FMJ / armored cap / non-DV caps

I have the newer version for the armored caps. I did not think it would get hot enough to melt. I was thinking man this is a really stinky burn off, oh shit somethings wrong. Its not to bad though, I just sanded and buffed it. The insert is still usable to luckily with some cleaning. It didnt full on melt but it was getting there.
Edited to add that the official skull candy site says rated to 500 and Im sure I blew past that. Ill be experimenting a bit more while also being much more careful. Could have been worse, stay safe everyone.

I'll be back over the weekend to post a bit more info but thought I'd just drop in to say the silicone pot is for decapping after you've finished a bowl.
They were not sent out with the intention of using them as depth stops in the Wand.
