VDN has the wood sleeves for weeks now, they might have forgot to list them. New screens probably won't be availabale until the release, when they place the next order.

Has anyone noticed rust buildup inside of their Tempest 2? I just received mine last week cleaned it in my ultrasonic cleaner and with ipa and used it once. Today I noticed that there is rust inside of the mouthpiece. How can I remove it and how can I avoid the rust buildup? Or is this a manufacturing issue?

I think I've had more than 50 bowls by now and it just started giving another click lol. It's a very silent first click so I think the person saying it's the first click that's missing is right btw. And also that it doesn't really matter if you have 1 click unless you specifically want to know when to do low temp I guess, but it's just another luxury hehe..
I'm now doing rubies, vertical lines barely under and 320'c until time over (makes it 1-2 seconds past click), It's absolutely amazing.. One of the best devices I've ever tried - instant daily driver.
Oh and thank you for sending some of the new bowl screens too with my latest order, I think they're definitely better!

Maybe the purity of the titanium is not very high. That looks a lot like rust to me

Another guess: no idea if this is possible, but maybe the tool used to drill/bore it out deposited metal, and rust formed on that deposited metal?

It seems a handful of Tempest 2 units, including mine, don't provide two clicks (only one click) - mine is one of them. I just answered this a couple days ago, but I don't really need the audible clues for effectively using it. I bought a Tempest 1 in the early release early last year (maybe 2023? I forget), so I am very comfortable using it. You'll get comfortable pretty quickly too, especially if you're using an IH. Once you dial it in, you can easily get away with a single click, the VI, and a feel for it.Mine does click the first time at the || mark and a second time 5-10 min after the last heating.Only then it will click again while heating it...
If you want two clicks, there are ways to disassemble the head and make sure everything is correctly in place, but I wouldn't worry too much about that yet unless it really bothers you. Also, the cooldown click happening 5-10 mins after you've set it down isn't unusual.
This is unlikely I think. Normally Titanium is machined with Tungsten or Titanium carbide tools. You can use High Speed Steel, but the cutting faces would wear so quickly, it wouldn't be economical.
It does look like some kind of chemical residue or rust from somewhere else. I saw a post on Reddit a week or two ago where someone had something similar looking on the head of their new unit (I can't get to the picture at the moment due to the stupid new laws in the UK haha). So my guess is it's something left over from machining\manufacturing process?
Depending on what they were machining at the station before this batch of tempests, it could be tiny particles of swarf that have built up in the machining lube from a previous job, been deposited and then rusted post manufacturing.

I believe this might be the reason why I though that was a reclaim/resin. The gold patches in that mouthpiece is looking similar color to the reclaim bowl I had before.
But sure I can be mistaken

That screw at the top of the cap is for dismantling the visual indicator mechanism, and of course for clamping the air holes at the desired position.
To remove the balls you need to go from the other end, the screen that holds the balls in that sits above the bowl can be removed with a suitable sized screw driver. Not done it myself yet, but it seems it needs a very positive twist to release it (it has three locking tabs, not just a screw thread).
Although the manual still has mostly T1 details, it's worth a look as the difference is minor (mainly the screen is different).
A few questions if I may?
How did you clean it when you first received it?
What did you use in it, have you used that in another vape?
How did you use it - flame or IH, and how did you apply them?
How was the taste and smell when you used it?

I have been struggling mightily to try and open the screw at the top of the device so that I can adjust the air flow but I cannot move the screw. It is totally seized and I'm starting to strip the top of the screw head (and bending both the C tool and the driver in the Reload). Might putting the head in the freezer or heating it with a torch make it any easier to unscrew?
I had no trouble with the screw on my original Tempests.

use a proper tool - at least thats what did it for me when i tried to unscrew it for the first time. i tried the c shaped tool and the tool from the leather case. both started to bend :/ then i tried a tool i had randomly lying around - it didnt bend, but sadly also had a very thin handle, so i couldnt apply enough force. i had to buy a new set of tools from my local hardware store to finally beat that damn screw.
after i sucessfully unscrewed it once, it got much easier.
So, anecdotally, I also had a rust issue. I’ll preface by saying I did buy second hand, as I was not lucky enough to get into the pre-order. As a result, I cannot wholly attest to handling before it got to me, only my experience after and the word of the prior owner.
I had noticed small rust/pitting on the interior of the titanium sleeve and corresponding location on the exterior of the airflow tube. Confirmed it was all Titanium, because likewise, I thought myself crazy as Ti does not rust. The usual cleaning did not remove it, which to me confirmed it had somehow rusted.
I took some high grit sandpaper and took my sweet time removing what I could, got it basically taken care of (inside the sleeve was tough to get leverage, but I think it’s adequate and I can probably only notice it because I spent so long removing it).
As its titanium, it made sense that perhaps original owner cleaned it with something else which may have transferred rust over and somehow it took footing, but now I do wonder if this may be related to the manufacturing process, specifically as others have mentioned a previous material being worked leaving fine particles which may have embedded/transferred to some units and resulted in some (extremely rare) rusting issues.

They indeed did not list them... I don't know why, I check almost every day but nothing... I'll send them an email, been waiting for wood sleeves since I saw them first.
it is rust, I've had it on my brand new all titanium V2 , mine was on the spiral cooler and in the condenser a bit. I believe it is due to leftovers from manufacturing/cleaning. Once I initially cleaned the device it never reappeared, so I wouldn't worry about it tbh.

The C tool doesn't fit, or fit properly, into the screw head on my T2 but once I realized the spiral/helix piece inside the condenser tube has a flat-head tip on it that exactly fits I was fine. If frequent adjustment of this screw is needed having to pop that out all the time could be tiresome but I don't really see that being an issue for me (and a tiny flat-head screwdriver is cheap and easy to source to add to the kit if need be).
Not having had any prior Tempest experience I'm not really clear on how this part of the air flow adjustment works (and with the manual it's never clear if something is V1 specific or applies to V2 as well). When I rotate the "head" after loosening the screw it seems there's either a position where it seats cleanly (and is level across the top) or it's "in between" and once the screw is secured it appears kind of lopsided. Any better description/guide on the what/how of adjusting this for the V2 or pointers to same? I'm totally down with believing this is user error but this user needs better doc, LOL!

I got my Tempest on Saturday, cleaned it with iso and let it dry.
I installed the wand adapter and did a empty heat at 270 C but nearly in an instant i saw smoke and after removing the Tempest i saw that the silicone pad was smoking.
So i waited another day to let the Tempest really dry but again the silicone pad began to smoke.
Could it be the way the tempest sits in the wand (angled / straight down)?
i hope someone here can help me. I'm not sure what i do wrong...

Are you sure it is the silicon? is the silicon piece deformed?
Because it is normal some vapor coming from the vape while heating (at the end of the heat up if the vape is clean, at the begining if you touched the cap before heat it, cause the residues)
@Charasi™ well it is just like a dyna condenser, so anything similar could work too
Maybe on of your click disk is upside down, and that makes they sound like one

No deformation but i think there is a burn mark on one side.
But i think it could be residues on my other tries.

Oh yeah, sorry, kind of forgot about it with all the rust paranoia going on
First of my experience so far using Vaporizers has been that I have a pax mini and I tried different DynaVap products with friends I also once tried the Tempest 1.
I don't have the ideal settings down yet (using a wand for heating), but the hits where I got it mostly right were pretty incredible. It felt like I could really taste the Terpenes the mouthfeel of the vapor was also fuller in a way (it's hard to describe). I also really like the handling and design of the Tempest it's a really well made product especially side by side with the DynaVap.
Looking at it from a taste and feeling side, it's definitely a significant upgrade to the DynaVap.
Design, manufacturing and handling of the device are barely comparable. The Tempest just feels like a properly finished product in every way where the DynaVap feels like a work in progress.
Reading this it sounds like the DynaVap is just some cheap low end product, but on its own the DynaVap is still really good and if I already owned one I don't know if I would make the jump because the DynaVap still is really nice to hit and tastes really good and is still a quality product.
You mentioned that you value the terpenes when consuming, so if you have the money and you really want to upgrade, I'd suggest getting the Tempest. Tastewise, there is a noticeable difference, although it's not as drastic as the jump from a joint to a dynavap.
Anyway, these are just my thoughts after testing it a few times, and I wrote them down kind of unstructured. I hope this helps you in your decision-making process.
