how do you like that shape? i've admired it for a while. i'm imagining i'd want to hold it right in front of that ridge which might make it feel tip heavy, where do you grab it?
Believe that shape is originally meant for thinner glass tubes, 8mm OD...as it's quite chunky with 11mm.
Easy to handle tho, grabbing it for the lower part, with pointer finger on the upper part. No issues.

Interesting, maybe I'll have to try 3mm balls in the t1, I have only tried the 2.5mm at this point. The faster vapor production has me curious. Good to know you use both as well, that sort of usage you described makes sense to me and I might go that route as well.

So I'm a tad confused, what is the difference between the upgrade kit and buying a t2 head? I'm assuming the upgrade kit is a little more of a manual process and is more involved. I'm also assuming it might not be an upgrade to the bowl size and is instead strictly an upgrade on the heater itself? I might have to consider an upgrade kit like you described. Otherwise I might just buy a t2 and keep my t1 as it is and just use both in different ways like you currently do.
Any answer to this?.

I'm thinking about just getting a second T2 head over the upgrade kit but not sure.

Cheers in advance.

afaik the upgrade kit adds as much of the new features as possible.. click disks, vi, thicker induction sleeve, etc. but does not increase the size of the bowl like the new one. when done the diameter will be larger than the t1 and smaller than the t2.

Does anyone know when will the EU site be open again?

Apparently it's not reopening. Some discussion about 10 pages back, I believe that there is a French and a German company who is stocking them, details some pages back or someone will post the details soon 8)

For the main release at end of August, you can order for EU from the UK site also.

Parts order came in a few days ago, and the new screens + curvy cooling unit are installed!

New bowl screen sits noticeably better in the smallest capacity config, and visually you can see it’s less material, more open. I like it.

I didn’t know the ball retaining screen would also be different from what came with the TiT2 (heh). It felt a little easier to get in place and does look a smidge more airy, though it’s gains (reductions? In material that is) don’t appear to be as significant relative to the bowl screen.

Curvy cooler is curvy and slightly cooler.

Overall, I’d say it’s a nice bump in quality of life. My rips have been excellent, but I’m not so discerning as to be able to claim they’re X% cooler and more open. Would the extra curviness negate some of the gained openness from the screens? I put the medium cooling unit back in with the new screens and couldn’t tell.

I bought 2.5mm zircs as well — put the 3mm back in right away. Small balls felt too constrictive. I’m tempted to try a combo of both sizes, maybe fill it 1/3 with 2.5mm and 2/3 with 3mm.

MH tossed the new metal C tool and bowl pole thing in which was cool of them to do. That said, never had an issue with using just the condenser and the new screen makes it even easier. I almost always slam it down to the deepest config meaning this will likely be a bigger deal to someone else.

Looking forward to reading what others think!

P.S.: after long bouts with the zircs, then rubies, then back to zircs — can’t make out much of a difference. Told ya I’m not discerning…

Yup the newer screens work well, I changed to rubies for the first time in the Ti the other day and changed screens, the bowl too. I like the rubies, don't ask me to qualify that 8)

Airier? Possibly, but the old balls were a wee bit sticky, condensation possibly, I always try to cool the head as rapidly as possible anyway to reduce important molecule loss. So it may be the clean balls that opened it up a tiny tad.

I have still only taken 2 hits from my WOHW since I got the Ti, I have an impressive green T2 now so I doubt it will be on much! The dark wood T1 sits miserably on the shelf, nothing wrong with it - just old age, as I :myday:

Is the Wand adapter v2 faster and easier to get in position and remove than v1? As I also have a Tornado that I use a lot, replacing the adapter constantly was just not feasible with the v1.

Yes, the Wand adapter v2 is faster than v1 to get in and out of position, for sure. Safer too - no glass you need to push in and out.

When I tried out installing the v2 wand adapter I ran into the problem that it was not staying the same when moving the wand. So it seemed kind of inconsistent.
Was I missing something or is this normal / nothing to worry about?

Can someone confirm if I am allowed to have the “Visual indicator” part of the cap within the heating zone of the Wand. Or MUST the visual indicator section be OUTSIDE of the heating zone?

I know it says not to “torch” the VI, but I’d like to know about the wand.

Thanks!

Mad Heaters Tempest manual. This has everything you need. The depth of the Tempest 1 head is the same as the depth of the Tempest 2 head.

Thanks, but that wasn’t my question.
If I follow the manual then the tip of my herb will rest inside the heating zone and therefore the tip of my herb gets more roasted than the rest. If I can heat the “balls only”, I’d prefer it.

Edit: to clarify, I am using the T2 and have been following the instructions for the T2 Wand adapter.

Yes, you should only be heating the balls. When I was using the Wand, I set the adapter so that I could do a full heat and open and see that the untouched herb hadn't been overly heated yet. I haven't used the V2 since I've had it, but I imagine you can set it similarly.

You’re allowed to do whatever you want — no rules!

Setting the V2 wand adapter very high will cause my T2’s VI to stick, usually when it’s off heat and returning. It will sit around the middle mark and then suddenly jump down below the initial mark. No permanent issue occurred from this, still works great when adapter is set properly.

I think it’s safe to experiment with what works best for you and your setup. Mine is a little higher than what the manual shows. The silicone disc does move around a bit but I don’t fuss over perfection, there’s a wide band where everything is great 👌
