The Tempest by Mad Heaters & Phatpiggie

Hit It & Quit It
It's a Sherlock pipe from Herborizer, that had stem broken, and added wooden shroom where it broke, to serve as a stand. Added o-ring in 18mm joint also.
Herborizer also offers stand like this, without the shroom.

@Brenyo Is there a model file for the wand stand? Tried searching with no luck
The model is his I believe, and in essence part of his stock. If he gave it away, others could make it and even sell them competing against him (even if in a small way).
But then what do I know? Maybe see what he says? 😊

You can find it here
Well that's bloody generous of him!
(Although it's the Mk.1 rounded version that doesn't let the Wand be set on it's side for that old horizontal action with ya 'pest! But then it'd be an easy edit to change?)

who has multiple ball sets, which ones do ppl prefer most?
It's really hard to comprehend the differences without trying it, my friend.
I'll try for glass and zircon
I got glass and zirconia and I like both the same honestly. Also plan on getting other materials to try out.
For glass I feel like i need more cooling from the stem, while for the zirconia I feel like it doesn't need as much cooling.
I have to inhale differently depending on the ball+stem combo and because of the effects that happen along the way (me getting HAF) it is really hard to explain the real difference besides what Brenyo put on the website info.
As far as I can personally tell, the taste or the extraction/effect isn't affected by the balls type.
Cleaning seems to be harder for glass (if you use torching) but haven't had the courage to try it yet.

If you want to heat it up faster - boro glass
If you need it to be smoother/easier on the throat - zirconia
If you need a longer, slower session - zirconia
If you want a fast but rich and powerful hit - boro glass

I imagine steel balls should be like "zirconia+" and silicon carbide balls should be like "boro glass+" or "zirconia-" if you know what I mean.

As I put together another tempest to be for glass only I use them interchangeably all the time, can't really pick a favorite yet. Maybe I need more time :D

DAMN - became a wall of text...apologies...TLDR is smth like: "I like zombies"

Cheers

Nice post, I was just about to ask how do I use the different balls to get the best out of them and what are they designed for.

I just purchased the SiC Silicone Carbide Balls and Glass Boro Balls and I'm wondering what are the best methods to use them.

I've just been using the standard balls up until now.

I've tried the sic, ss, zrc, and boro all 3mm. I have 3mm rubies otw so I don't have experience with them but I'd love to hear settings. I use 3mm boro 500-510f, 3mm sic 545f (probably my favorite so far) , 3mmzrc 600f, amd 3mm ss ~650f. This is with the wand adapter set at the height on the manual.

I've been using the Sic lately and I'm really liking the set up.

The Sic heat up faster than Zirconia balls, so you want to reduce the temperature / time when heating

If you are using an ispire wand I'd suggest starting with Mad Heaters guide in the manual

Start with 260c for time out method. The sweet spot for me is between 265 - 285c.

Sic start to produce vapour more rapidly too, so keep your draw speed slow and steady if you prefer a lighter roast

Hello all together,

I tried to search and read most of the thread. But couldn't find an answer for fixing the late cooldown click. Brenyo wrote to overheat it, but it didn't help ..

Will there be other disks available in the future?
For me a good cooldown click would be better then an accurate "it's on temperature" click. Like with Dani 2.0 I have to "overheat" it by a few seconds but the cooldown click is on point and I know I can go again ..

I'm using the tempest for around two weeks now and I really like it! But I want the cooldown click to be better, because I like butane torches.
It's perfect with the wand, yes! Still, we need a good cooldown click!

Also in the manual section of the madheaters page the Tempest is on Gen 1. Are there talks already about Gen 2.? Did I miss something??

Peace and greetings!
Wish you guys a nice festive time of the year!

To my knowledge (which ain't so impressive) there's been no formal announcement but seeing the "Gen1" bit raised the same question with others.
Maybe search on all of Brenyo's posts in this thread? If it hasn't come from them directly then I'd add a pinch of salt to any claims.
My guess, for what it's worth, is Brenyo's been collecting design improvements since well before it was officially launched, and a second version follows the pattern with the reload and revolve.
On that basis, he's almost certainly NOT bringing out an updated version, just to show I'm wrong! 😉

@Dampf hello! Do you have one click or two? Because, in my case, my two tempest have one disk which takes a lot of time to make the cool down click, but the other one is ok. Also, i find it more accurate to take a look at the VI

Yeah, I do have two clicks. One clicks around five minutes after I'm done and the other like 10-15 minutes later. I read here or on Reddit that it'll settle with use, but it didn't change - and I'm using it very often right now! I bought CBD so I'm not high all the time haha. I love using the tempest! Such a beautiful thing!

Yes, I do use the VI for now, but it requires more attention than the click I think. Also I'm getting old and hardly see it without glasses ..

Edit: of course I disassembled it to check if the disks are installed the right way and they are.

I set mine upside down on a small yet heavy steel grinder. Cooldown click happens a lot quicker ;)
