Bing buddery video on the Tempest. In the description he says that from what he understands, the new stem will be entirely redesigned. My hopes are for a slightly larger bowl or an xl bowl

has anyone else tried the 10mm mesh screens from amazon? they come in a 100 count and are a perfect fit. The mesh is less fine than the stock ones and I'm noticing less gunk build up on my screen. Yes the stem has tons of particles but id rather it build up on the stem vs get the screen clogged. I also noticed way better airflow and my herbs extracting a bit better/more even. I do a fine grind currently but plan to try a coarser grind and see if it works

Yea, I use and toss them. I don’t notice any difference in airflow honestly. Wish they were a little bit better quality like the stock though.

Anybody else using this with the Haze pipe? Very fun combination
im currently purchasing a beaded j hook to try out. need a break from water hits. hopefully it cools as well as water. when it arrives i can give some updates!

I have j hook. Definitely helps cool vapor with it. Easier on throat
I leave mine in a magnet when not in use. Never noticed any issues arising.

I've been enjoying my tempest head on my revolve gen 2 glass system. I use a bong with the tempest but have a beaded j hook on the way to give water a break. Before purchasing the tempest I tried out a potv lobo and man that thing sucked. I think either flower got into the oven or something was melting because every time I turned it on it gave off a strange odor it reminded me of those old wax pen coils the ones that glow and give off that nasty odor. Because of the odor I immediately returned the Lobo and right away purchased the tempest head since I had a revolve stem. after a couple of weeks with the tempest, I can say returning the lobo was the best decision.
The head works amazingly well on those chinaglass little sake bottle rigs. The airflow just works really well with it. I prefer it to j-hooks even.

Metal polish like barkeepers friend, mother's mag will do, and a cloth.
I use a cape cod polishing cloth on mine, not as invasive as proper polish creams like the ones above, but it did more than enough to make it look nice again, it returned all steel parts to a nice shiny finish in a couple of minutes.
It's easier to use and easier to clean after you've finished as well. Getting polish out of nooks and crannies can be a pain sometimes.
Smells nice too, vanilla, but that'll be removed with a good clean before you use it.

I usually use black de-bowler and use the tub colour to try and somehow coordinate with the strains I'm carrying.

I thought a heat sensitive coating for the Tempest like an LCD thermometer strip would be cool.
So it changes colour as it gets hotter giving a spectrum from cap to mouthpiece! Could even act as yet another temp gauge!

My Tempest arrived yesterday and I have a few questions:
- The instructions show "open, bypass, and closed" without much explanation. I think open is obvious - the holes line up. Closed is also obvious, I think, but "Bypass" took me a minute; this is the indented side of the stem facing the window? How do Bypass and Open really differ, when they both allow air in?
- The instructions also make reference to the "airport" but there is no diagram or explanation of what that is. Is this the hole referenced in open/close/bypass? Or is it the adjustable slots in the head?
- What effect does the slot in the head have vs the Airpath Control Dial vent?
- What is the practical difference between the helix and direct mouthpieces? I swapped them and can't tell a difference. The diagram in the instructions is confusing. Ideally, it would use a different air path diagram for each configuration instead of the numbers.
- What does the SCU do in practice? Again, I can't tell a difference when using it vs without.
- Using a Wand on 550, and adjusting the depth of the cup as suggested, I am getting pretty scorchy results. I'll play with adjusting the depth of the cup, and lowering the temp, and I guess adjusting my draw style. It is hard to do too many experiments without destroying my day, though.
- I did two bowls back to back, and the unit was HOT. Even the heat shield was almost untouchable. Is this expected?
I realize a lot of experimenting will answer these questions, eventually, but reading this thread it seems like many of you have a deep intuitive understanding and is leaving me feeling pretty stupid when I normally am fairly capable of reading instructions and using vaporizers of various designs.

And if that's still not clear, take a look at the Revolve 2 manual which has clear details on this, being almost the same as the Tempest stem.
