For me I have always disliked audible clickers. Because they are arbitrary. Nothing I have disliked more in the vape world than being told to "go past the click when using this way or that way", or hearing the click on an Anvil but still combust because my torch length was too big and aimed too low down, or knowing the click is irrelevant because I'm vaping hash etc etc. The visual indicator is a killer feature imo. It's the analogue vape version of the digital temp screen on a mighty or volcano. It's precision and control.

I can see the value in having audible click disc on the Tempest. But I'll be swapping it in and out depending on use.
Can’t you apply the same logic to a visual indicator though? In the end, it’s just an arbitrary temp sensor that you may have to push past

Not really. Because you will know where you like it for what you are doing. So you will stop heating when you got that exact mark. So when you have a strain that needs a bit more heat, or using hash, or even just wanting RTL hit, you still have this exact control.

It's always representative of an exact temp of the bowl on a sliding scale, whereas an audible clicker notifies reaching a single arbitrary temp point. In this way an audible clicker is like a thermometer that can only give a single temp reading, but at any other temp doesn't give a reading.

I feel like the problem with trying to add sensors to butane powered devices is that there's so many different ways to heat the device that your sensor is going to struggle to measure the temperature of the whole heater. I think the clicker disks are just bimetallic disks that will make a click when the metals suddenly bend at X degrees. Just because your clicker clicked doesn't guarantee that your heater has reached Y degrees it means the clicker reached X degrees. This means your heater could be any temperature depending on where you heated and the intensity of your flame, it's up to you to find a heating technique that will correlate the desired vape temp with when the disk clicks. I don't own a tempest so I can't confirm unfortunately but what I'm guessing is the case is @Brenyo might have found a way to design the visual indicator so that it's more indicative of the whole heater temp rather than just a small part of it like the clickers. That could mean you can heat the tempest with any technique and use the visual indicator to get a good idea of the vape temp.

Hi y'all, I'm one of those pesky lurkers that was lucky enough to get one of the test kits. It was delivered on Wednesday but i haven't had a chance to use it yet and wont until I have finished work for the day. I will give it a whirl tonight and will post my feedback and findings here over the next couple of days.

I have just done an iso soak to clean the device and check out all of the intricate machining. I'm sure i read something in this thread about being able to adjust the airflow through the tip but cant see any way to do this on the device. Does anyone who has used theirs a bit more have any insight into this.

I am a big fan of Mad Heaters and currently own 2 revolve gen 2's, a reload, and a wand. Been looking forward to getting my hands on a tempest for the past couple of months.

May I ask why that's your main reason for your interest in the Tempest? Just curious what drives interest in these features is all...

So I get for most people they're wanting the Tempest because it's a portable ball vape. I already have the Thermal Accumulator so I have that covered. But because there is no indicator of any kind, using the TA is an involved process and getting distracted can lead to accidental combustion.

Also as someone who's a long time Dynavap user, the one thing that frustrated me was not being able to have hits with my headphones in. Tempest covers all these bases and the colour choices are looking sweet too.

It will also be a good vape for n00bs to try out. I usually carry a Dynavap with me, even when I know I won't use it, because it's an easy vape to setup for others.

I am refreshing the tracking so much its ridiculous 😂
Me too, can’t help myself lol. Does Asendia hand off to USPS for final delivery? Mines been bouncing around Heathrow for a few days so hopefully it found a flight across the pond! This is the longest short wait ever!

If you have the airflow setting at anything but closed, you can also feather the carb to modulate the hits.

Pic doesn't look clear, but if you click on it, Imgur will open up and you will see it much clearer and will be able to read it.

love it, thank you, I get what you're saying, portable ball vape, I am a little simpler, I like the ritual that people like RedZep has been sharing more than anything, but each of the features adds up to basically make this manual vape compete will all the digital vapes in regards to temp control and usability.

the amount of people waiting is adorable lol I love the excitement

Aah ok, so the airflow control on the tip is a collar that you rotate. I was attempting to turn the very end where the visual indicator is. Like I say i have had very little time with the physical device. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

...Along with the post office one and Asendia.

Those three are open in my phone browser all the time 😄

You can control the airflow on the cap as well. The induction layer can be rotated if you press it at a specific point from 2 sides and loosen the screw a little on the bottom. Don’t forget to tighten it back properly so it won’t stick out and scratch the magnet. You can use the Reload’s debowler as well if you don’t have a tiny screwdriver

@Brenyo Will the buyers of test kits be able to choose a color of the visual indicator with the rest of the parts when finalized ?
No unless there are some available separately, the indicator is already included. It’s availability is down to how many faulty parts there will be etc because I didn’t ask for extras now. The color might not be as apparent as we imagine, it’s a small indicator.

You could try to make it blue if you take it apart and heat it to a specific temp.

so the tempest has a visual indicator and a click indicator (seperately)? you can swap them out?.... for some odd reason I thought the tempest came with both visual and click indicators both integrated into the tempest , you are saying they are seperate? sorry if this is a weird question

The tempest has both. Other thing is you can disassemble it to remove them. But it has both

It comes with both, they are separate components, Brenyo posted a video of him putting in the discs and then the visual indicator

did I really go to Switzerland first?!
Isn't it Switzerland air? SPI LONDON AIR or something similar?

thank you and @VapingYogi for responding, at first I thought the visual indicator was a weird foolish add on, but that was my first foolish reaction, but right now for example I have both my ears clogged really bad so this visual indicator right now would be a very nice help! lol, I also hear people say its good for loud concert environment or simply watching tv and vaping, you dont have to lower your Tv to hear a click now with the tempest, sometimes I have to tell my wife to not talk so i can hear the click, (Not recommended to tell your wife to be quiet btw, its better to Combust lol just saying ) so a visual indicator is a really genious idea tbh, I was the foolish one jumping to conclusions too early (we tend to do that as humans lol) or at least I do sometimes..... so tempest has both, can you take clicker off and leave only visual indicator on or vise versa? or can you take both off (not sure why anyone would do that just curious) thanks guys your so kind!

I would loose my balls if I did that.... :p I just combust and run outside before she smells it - "whipped"

If you find Brenyos post with the video, you can put the parts in minus a component to have the clicker and visuals or one or the other - actually, I have it here somewhere...

This is the process:

I'm useless with anything fiddly :p I am not sure how it would go together without certain parts so I would never try to take something out myself lol but others have been talking about taking out the clicker

haha I just saw your message just now but had added that its not a good idea to tell your wife to be quiet that its best to combust! lol very true we are on the same frequency there my brother, to be fair my wife is an awesome person, and i would rather combust than tell her to be quiet lol thanks for sharing bro

Finally got to use my review reward Tempest after 3 weeks of waiting. I flew out to Melbourne the day it arrived in Ireland, terrible timing haha.

I hit 3 bowls last night across 2 hours and was right where I wanted to be haha, so good just puffing away for ages with one heat up! Really nice high very similar to my zeal ball vape.

No click or working visual indicator in the review reward beta version but I have the wand so not too big of an issue.
With all the discussion around the indicators I just wanted to add that with neither working I was a little worried about combusting if I tried to go again too fast after the first bowl.
However, I found the Tempest to be super forgiving. I just popped in the wand and just kept checking after every 8-10 blinks or so for vapour. I would say it is a lot harder to combust in this than other butane vapes I have used. I even reheated the same bowl to bring it back up to temp and I was able to get an RTL looking roast without any indication needed :D

I will definitely grab a version with the working indicators though because by the sound of the impressions of the visual indicator it seems like it would be suuuuper useful for quick heat ups and for peace of mind also so you know you are definitely not going to combust! You can easily get distracted counting time or flashes on the wand lol although as I was saying it seems super forgiving.

I took some pics of the device disassembled for cleaning as my friend was using it when I was away.

It's the black Tempest, same one @kokolokokolokon hit in his video, I think anyway.

Right I have been testing mine out. My first thoughts. Honeymoon periods may apply. I have had 3 bowls so far.

Oh boy. It's definitely my favourite butane vape. It might even rival my TM2 even though they are very different. So I guess possibly I might have a new favorite? Shall I sell some vapes and buy a second?

I have been using it with the helix flow, the SCU, air hole closed, and a couple of different torches.

It's a really nice high, super smooth, did not cough once. It's real fun seeing how long you can puff away on one heating.

It feels really nice in the hand, you can feel the weight of the balls. The spinning mouthpiece is really usefull. The case I brought fits well.

The temp indicator. Genius. My clicker does not work and I think the temp indicator could do with some calibration. It reaches the end too quick. However I knew that when I brought it. I don't miss the clicker at all. The indicator is far better than a clicker, you can see live how hot your cap is as a percentage. Fantastic, really helps with heating, and if you miss the click you can't make a mistake.

The clouds when you heat it right are impressive. So far I have never felt i have overheated it.

I think I am in love.
