On the topic of balls, out of the two I’ve used, 2.5mm zirc and 3mm SiC, I much prefer the sic and it’s a combination of the material and size. The difference in airflow is noticeable and welcome change from the 2.5mm zirc to Sic.
Taste I’m not super sensitive to so don’t notice much of a difference but the sic holds the heat better to my preference. If anything, was a bit too well for the half bowl setting and if I pushed it a tiny bit too far could combust. Since going back to full bowl, sic has been perfect for long sessions with how it holds the heat and enough material in the load to feel like I’m puffing on a joint/blunt or cherried bowl rather than a vape that I need to worry about reheating.
Had been neglecting the tempest slightly as I was giving more attention to the newer vapes I’ve acquired, but past couple weeks back to it, and it really feels like the only vape in my collection I would be absolutely comfortable and satisfied with if I lost all the others. Performs excellent at home or on the go, can work with torch, or batteries and IH. Can puff on it like a joint, full on mouth to lung experience doing tricks again or taking huge bong hits to melt the face off. All the while having excellent taste and exceptional cooling on its own.
The longer I have it and more vapes I compare it too, the tempest is really feeling like it will stand the test of time.
And mine is a pre-release. I know everyone has been awaiting the fully polished and calibrated version but if something were to happen and it never came to be, and I never got the updated indicators, I wouldn’t need them. I often forget that I still will be getting updated parts/indicators/accessories for a vape that feels more complete than any other I own.
Truly an incredible way to enjoy my favorite plant and bring that familiar ritual and feeling of smoking that I loved back in the day, but with even greater flavor and effects. Damn I love weed and the wonderful ways we have come to experience it.
