Never had anything like that. Is your device clean? I use mine multiple times a day, and therefore clean it twice a week.
Yes, it's clean. I don't usually vape daily, and when I do I microdose, so I clean it less often but still regularly and thoroughly each time.

It really might just be the strain, paired with the fact that I like to use the Tempest at really low temps. It's terpy and pungent as hell, and maybe the terps, preserved by my low temp vaping, are what cause the irritation. I picked it up in NYC from the gray market, and I wonder if it might not be part of the "sprayed weed" trend that's been happening where they artificially spray terpenes onto the bud. Pure conjecture of course, but maybe someone with more knowledge can speak on all that.

Because of my consumption habits 1/4th lasts me a real long time, and I don't re-up until I need more. I'll try out different strains when I get the chance, but it's just strange to me that none of my other vapes seem to have caused this problem while using the same bud. I should add that I also had a Crafty bowl with the same bud, and it also didn't lead to irritation, although idk if I can really say anything off just one bowl.

It's possible that what I'm suggesting is that the Tempest is so good at extraction that it's revealing the harmful effects of bad weed haha... but that's making a lot of assumptions.

Yep. Thanks. Thats a great explanation. I've just ordered a black Revolve 2 stem. If that goes well with me I will then step into the Tempest as an complete upgrade or just the Tempest head. Cheers for the info.
I did this too and my second showed up 2 weeks before my Tempest last November. I have not touched either Revolve mk2 since the tempest first hit my lips. I was actually annoyed I bought the second Revolve because I may never use it and just want another Tempest (or two!).

As others have said it's not comparable. The vapor production of a dyna tip and cap is not even in the same hemisphere. Flavor is markedly better too.

None of these are ball vapes. Is this your first go with one? Maybe they’re the culprit. They sure smack the heat to the back of my throat real good.
No, the Tempest is indeed my first ball vape. That could be it. The irritation doesn't quite feel like a scorching sensation, but maybe the heat is drying out my throat? I should add that I also mostly do MTL hits with the Tempest, which should help cool the vapor down further.

I did get to use the Thermal Accumulator once or twice and it didn't seem to cause any irritation. But not enough data. There's really just so many variables here, and it's a real head scratcher. I just want to love the Tempest with no complications haha

In any case I appreciate the help

Has anyone else experienced a sore throat after using the Tempest? I can't tell if its just the strain I have (it's very terpy), or the temperature I'm vaping at (I prefer low temps), or something completely unrelated to vaping, but I started having what I can only describe as like a citric acid-feeling coating my throat, and it seems to go away after I stop using the Tempest for a couple days.

Using my TM2, Dynavap, and E-Nano, I haven't had the same issue, as far as I can tell. The vapor from the Tempest feels "wetter" than the other three (or maybe I should say the vapor from the other devices is drier), if that makes any sense, and that seems to play a part in the sore throat feeling.

It's a shame because everything about the ritual, signature, and flavor of the Tempest is perfect to me, but this unexpected sore throat thing has me a little worried that maybe I haven't defeated VAS after all.
Could be the sheer amount of terpenes being extracted by the Tempest at once? Since we know that terps do irritate the throat and lungs, this could be part of the issue. Combine that with the high temperature coming from the vape would do it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You could experiment by really nursing a bowl. Start low temp, shorter draws and increase temp as needed. Determine if it has the same effect on the throat that you were experiencing.

Honestly, this is sort of my working theory right now. It's interesting that no one else has experienced a sore throat -- prior to this experience I wouldn't have considered myself as having a particularly sensitive throat lol

I wonder if there any ways I can control for other variables, but your idea seems like a good starting point. Maybe I'll stick to vaping CBD while testing.

If you’re getting a sore throat from any stem device it’s likely the temperature causing irritation. I would bet running it through even a minimal amount of water will improve your comfort. :2c:

I have sensitivity issues with inhaling anything now, but that's down to a medical issue.
Strains can have an affect, I had one a couple months ago, can't remember what it was called it but it was really scratchy. I also have some thin mint at the moment, this is also a bit scratchy in use.

Even a Dynavap would set me off, till the revolve was released. Absolute game changer for me.
It's pretty amazing that I'm able to use the tempest native, the helix design is so good.

I've had to accept that I will get a bit of bother from harder hitting vapes, but I'm still well impressed as to how hard I can hit this before needing to run it through water.

Also found that if it's cold outside and we have the heating on, I seem to get a little more irritation, When I'm outside and use the tempest, I get virtually no irritation at all, even with back to back. So the air around will make a difference too.

One last thing I noticed is, I get marginally more irritation using the wooden sleeves, this will no doubt be down to the stainless steel sleeve lining they have, it's just kind of stores the heat rather than dissipate it like the ti sleeve.

I don't think anyone said the Tempest will end it either. Some vapes are simply better than others. Tempest is much better than DV, but also more expensive.

Cannabis is legal in Germany now. Who do you think will have vaporisers in every headshop in Germany soon? My money is on Dynavap. It's cheap, reliable and has substantial brand recognition. It's not going anywhere. So if you are a dynavap fan, I think you have no need to reflect such insecurities every times a better performing vape is released.

In the meantime if someone asks me which is a better vape out of Dynavap and Tempest, they are going to get an honest answer, because in terms of performance there are lightyears between them. Tempest is more comparable with Couchlog, ZX etc in terms of price and performance.
have you seen them for sale in the headshops in Amsterdam ? IF you find them, IF, they are expensive AF. Dynavap and by extension all TED's are also not popular or well known. For now.

That maybe so. However they are very well placed for changes in the market. They are an established brand, and will always have their place. I just don't get why DV fans feel insecure about this every time a superior vape releases.

DV is decade old tech. It's been bettered over and over again, and still keeps trucking. So I wish people would not get offended by claims of inferiority to other vapes.

If someone asks on this Tempest thread which is better, then any serious actor is going to describe a considerable gulf in performance. I feel like we should not have to alter our answers in fear of upsetting someone. Especially in the Tempest thread. Truthful answers are what FC users require and ask for. If I give someone the impression that DV is anyway even comparable to the Tempest, then I have in effect lied to them.

I wholeheartedly agree. I've given up on several forums of discussion around vaporizers due to negative behavior and suppression of new ideas or devices. It's normal for people to be attached to their Favorite Thing; even more so when their Favorite Thing gets them high! Places like FC cultivate that enthusiasm, while remaining open and excited about new progression in the industry.

Personally, I'm enthusiastic about things to a fault, so it's nice to be enthusiastic without being attacked for it. Even if what I'm currently enjoying is outdated or differing tech, or from an unpopular brand, most people here are just curious and interested to get another perspective without buying the device themselves.

If I don't like a vape, I simply don't read or reply to those threads. But there are a lot of threads on vapes I don't like that I join in and read anyway, because it's fun and maybe my mind will be changed.

Tempest still feels like expensive unobtainium to me, but someday it might be just the thing to add to my arsenal!

@Brenyo Just went to order one of the cleaning containers. When I select the grey colour icon, it still says "black". Shall I just order and send an email asking for gray?

That's pretty sweet and I'll be getting one during next order :cool:I've been disassembling each time to clean but found this plastic tube and tried for the first time. Removed the screen, hit it with the heat gun on both sides real quick, and dropped it into tube filled about 1/4 of the way with iso. Shook & tilted back and forth for a couple minutes, rinsed, dried, took all of it apart, and holy shit! Tube sure looks like the one on MH site but it's shorter, so think it came with something else.

I like a MTL smoking like experience not DTL. And can’t be bothered with bongs. I'm looking for cool vapor and nice smooth hits with as little coughing as possible.

Got a Roffu and a selection of dynavaps that I am happy with. Tossing up between a WoodWynd or Tempest as my next acquisition but looking at some of the vids I’m worried that the Tempest might be too much for a lightweight like me.

Anyone got a WoodWynd and Tempest for comparison? or got the Tempest dialled in for longish one heat session extractions?

Where did you get the metal stands that your pieces are sitting in?
Etsy - I'll find a link

I use the Anvil one for my Thermal Accumulator and the Dynavap one for my Tempest

I was more wondering if there were any reviews of the two offerings. Obvioulsy people were happy with the Revolve 2 and the options that came with it so wanted to know what reasons people have to upgrade to Tempest set up
The Revolve Gen 2 vs the Tempest stem? because you can't compare the different ovens as they are totally different creatures.

I have both and use both daily, I have a Thermal Accumulator on a Revolve Gen 2 and a Tempest on the Tempest Native Stem and both work really well for what I am using them for, but I have a Tempest wooden sleeve (which is thinker than the Revolve Gen 2 wooden sleave) in order to be able to handle the heat from the Tempest and the Thermal Accumulator as the sleeves of the Revolve Gen 2 are designed to handle significantly less heat than the Tempest wooden sleeves.

I do. Thats what interests me. If you compare the complete Tempest aginst a Revolve 2 with the Dynavap cap and stem config
If you're using a dinovap you could use either, they both work equally well, the only real differences are the lack of a reclaim screen (which I prefer the Tempest cooling unit without the screen) and a change to the helix tube, the reclaim screen adds some resistance to the stem especially when it gets dirty but otherwise they perform very similarly (when its just a dinovap tip).

Tempest stem is slightly larger than Rev2 stem, so usual benefits apply. Easier to spin, more comfortable to hold, slightly cooler vapor, and most importantly to me, looks.
I 100% agree the Revolve Gen 2 design wasn't my favorite - the Tempest stem and sleeves look great

Oh well. I guess I'll have to get a Tempest and have the Revolve 2. And enjoy it from there. I could alternate between them and make my mind up. I'll look for videos on Tempest. Thanks for advice.
It will be a fun journey as the Tempest is like attaching a ball vape to the end of your dinovap

Its interesting that I have noticed the same thing, the TA doesn't tickle my through quite like the Tempest does but I can't figure out why or what I am doing differently.... the only noticable difference is I tend to hit the Tempest for longer than the TA, by that I mean say 7 MTL on the TA and 9-11 MTL on the Tempest... maybe the longer it is the drier it gets or something....

DV is decade old tech. It's been bettered over and over again, and still keeps trucking. So I wish people would not get offended by claims of inferiority to other vapes.
DV works and is slowly improving but the Tempest is like a massive leap forwards...

Anyone got a WoodWynd and Tempest for comparison? or got the Tempest dialled in for longish one heat session extractions?
the Tempest is dialed in for at least 9-11 breaths doing an MTL session on a single bowl - easily better than any of the dinovaps I have.

If someone asks on this Tempest thread which is better, then any serious actor is going to describe a considerable gulf in performance.
the chasm is more like the The Mariana Trench...

I am so tempted to get things as they are released hear but I think I am going to just have to wait until the release and get everything I want at once if I can - the glass sleave, the cleaning box, the wand stand... etc

Tempest still feels like expensive unobtainium to me, but someday it might be just the thing to add to my arsenal!
I believe there might be future options for Tempest WPA style setup that's a little more affordable, Brenyo mentioned it much earlier in the thread

I think I can speak on your situation pretty well. I also have a really low tolerance, and I also prefer vaping MTL. Moreover, I primarily use the helix tip on my dynavap, which is what the WoodWynd comes with.

I can definitely vouch for the Tempest. I pretty much only hit it MTL, which makes it really easy to regulate my dosage; I just take as many MTL puffs as I want while the head is hot. Unlike most other convection vapes, you don't need to take a huge, guaranteed-to-melt-your-face (if your low tolerance like us) DTL pull on it to get good vapor.

The flavor on the Tempest is purer, and the high is a much brighter convection high, which personally I prefer over the dynavap's conduction signature. I will say, I still find that the dynavap is better for getting super thick MTL hits, on account of the conduction. Even on the Helix tip, which has more airflow than the other tips and is thus actually worse for MTL pulls. When I french inhale a nicely-roasted dynavap hit, visually the vapor is so dense it's almost looks like smoke, or the vapor from a nicotine vape. The problem is, by that point on the dynavap, the flavor is more or less gone. The Tempest I find has less of a trade-off between flavor and vapor density.

Especially since you already have some dynavaps, I think the Tempest is a no-brainer here. For me, one of the benefits of being a lightweight is that raw performance is not actually that important; I'm more interested in the personality, signature, and ritual of the vape. Either way I'll get high, but I wanna have a fun time getting there, and I want the high itself to be luxurious. The Tempest is really special; it's one of those vapes that becomes not just a tool but a companion.

I agree the tempest is more convection high but I don't think the MTL hits are better on a dinovap than the Tempest, I've never been able to get 11 good hits off a dinovap even with the 9-fin and a FMJ. I agree the Tempest has less of a conduction hit however I think the TA is a better comparison than a dinovap in terms of heat retention, flavour and extraction as compared to the Tempest.

I completely agree the experience is the biggest draw for the tempest for me, the ritual and signature is a great companion to my other favorite vapes
