Let me tell you about my first 24 hours with the tempest:
I got it yesterday shortly after lunch. Unfortunately I still had work to do and couldn’t jump right into testing it but of course I opened the package to get a first look.
I was immediately impressed by the look of the device in reality. It is actually smaller (thinner) than I expected, but absolutely not in a bad way (the bowl is a perfectly good size). I actually love the form factor and the feel of the materials in your hand. Also regarding the wood sleeve, which feels very slick.
The colours just look soo good in real life. Since I’m not much of photographer the pictures really don’t do it justice. Also I can’t really describe which shade of blue it is because it seems to change everytime I look at it
. Depending on the light it sometimes is a lighter more metallic blue and sometimes it’s a darker more vibrant blue, but it always looks beautiful.
I took the unvoluntary waiting time to soak it in ISO so everything would be ready to go.
I approached the first bowl slowly to test out the VI. Since I don’t own a wand (yet
) and I didn’t wanna combust on my first bowl. The vapor was tasty but obviously not the clouds you see on here, so I went in for another heat up. And fortunately I hit just the right spot and got huge but relatively cool clouds (taste was pretty much gone by that time) with great effects that you could immediately feel.
I could straight away understand all the praise this thing gets!
I started with the helix tube on bypass mode, which seemed like a good starting point. And yeah… now I’m testing out all the different settings, which will take a while
.
At first it seems a bit overwhelming with all the options: helix or direct tube with 3 settings each, SCU, matrix air hole and all the resulting combinations xD
.. but that just shows that you can really customise the tempest to your likings. How hard do you draw naturally ? How much restriction do you want? How much cooling? How dense do you want your vapor to be?
And I haven’t even tested it on a water pipe because I wanna explore all the native options first.
Also you really don’t need a water piece to get huge clouds out of this thing without coughing your lungs out. The native cooling is surprisingly great for such a small device.
The Tempest really is a special device and I can definitely see it replace a lot of my other devices. It just got the potential for a perfect daily driver. Native use during the week to keep the space nice and tidy; and usage on a waterpipe during the weekends when you really want a slap to your face
Hard hitting, cool vapor, no cables, tiny footprint on your table, no pre-heating for 10-15 min, customisable beyond belief, super easy cleaning ( I combusted twice while testing the limits but was clean and running again in no time
), perfect team with the reload,…
This thing will blow my tolerance with all the testing I have to do!
I hope this wasn’t too long and that maybe somebody will find it helpful.
