Couldn't agree more about the empty promises and general disregard for the 1.0 customers, to the point of
blaming us for using the provided override when the timer boxes broke down. Just think how easy it would have been to make the small gesture of saying, "hey why don't all you 1.0 owners register your warranty on our website, and we will send you out a moon tool in appreciation" (like they promised anyways). Hell they could have included a t-shirt or something and we would be singing their praises instead of this crap, for a very minimal cash outlay on their part.
Instead they are reportedly already improving on and planning on monetizing the moon tool?
Even the separation of the 1.0 and 2.0 threads reeks of this perceived abandonment,
but hopefully this thread will take on more of a diy type of vibe since our ostracization
.
Look ma, no timer!
The silver lining for myself (and hopefully other 1.0 owners) is that I have discovered that the sub works just fine with other dimmer/controller boxes. In fact, for this post I swapped in the ~$30 pre-made box shown above in place of my homemade one, and got over 67 watts, even better performance than the one I made, and 12+ watts over what I was getting with the stock box running at its best! This doesn't change much for me in actual use, but I'm glad that the ceiling has been raised. How many watts does the 2.0 get up to
?
edit: I added the wink-face above because I realize that this may be hard to measure comparatively.
I also wanted to add that with my homemade box I may be able to get even more wattage, as the whole point of that box was to be able to easily swap out individual components (in this case the dimmer).
And just in case any of you were wondering,
the wires to the apollo stay cool to the touch even when on maximum power.
