I use my Splinter with ArcticFox Firmware on a Wismec Predator. At first I was having good results with the stock firmware in Wattage as well as in TCR (set to 175 with a max wattage of 66) but after a bit I was noticing that I kept having to bump up the temperature in order to achieve the same results. Once I updated to ArcticFox, which allows you to monitor live temperature and resistance, I started noticing my resistance jumping around, even when at room temperature. At first I thought it might be the 510 connection but actually it was the mods frame itself, which I tightened with a small screwdriver and voilà! Now my resistance is stable, which is an absolute must for TCR.
My settings are currently:
-Resistance locked at 0.246 ohms
-TCR at 172
-Max wattage at 50W
-PI regulation enabled at P=1500 I=285
-Starting temp around 168 Celsius and usually finishing at 184 Celcius
-15 second puff cutoff
I did lower my max wattage after @KeroZen pointed out Ryan recommends no more than 50W. This means a slightly slower heatup (around 3.5 seconds) but drastically reduces hotspots. I also have taken to rotating my stem/cooling unit to achieve more even ABV. If I go straight to 184 Celsius and rotate my stem, I can cache an EQ basket screen in 2 massive 30 sec lung busters.
