Stem was clean and was already spinning freely. But its glass I guess. I've been babying it for that very reason and also got a stempod for travel so I wouldn't break it. I get it though I'm not saying they need to be replaced everytime some one breaks the glass. It just sucks that if you break the glass you are screwed and cant change/replace parts.

I am awaiting as well. That said the warranty coverage is clear.

Glass is covered for 30 days and you are well beyond that. You have the thick German glass so it really should be very resilient to breakage so your case is interesting. One thing that is sometimes a problem is people twisting stems instead of rocking them loose which is the best practice. Also putting cold stems in a warm splinter can cause problems.

I do hope RBT can find the time to replace this for you as German glass is replaceable but it's not a warranty situation. And please understand that there are a a lot of variables that go into broken glass and most are due to drops.

I wanted to address this here as i feel there is valuable information for others to know what is covered and what is not.

And to put a personal example on this I have been using RBT products for years. I have probably owned more products than anyone else out there. All different types of glass and all different types of units/stems. Only once did I ever break glass and it was 100% my fault. I hastily put it away in a cabinet and it was not secure. When I opened the door later the mod slipped out and crashed to the hardwood floor. Maybe I am just lucky but I have not had issues with the glass like some. It is true that you need to be careful though so it is not for everyone.

I will follow up Ryan again on this one.
Which Splinter model brings German glass?

Idk it's the only splinter I have had so i dont have a reference.
Understand. It is replaceable (the German stuff) but it's about who can do it and how much it will cost if someone is willing to do it.

What are the PID numbers folks are using with a Splinter V1 on a myevic mod like my VTC Dual?

Do I still set max watts and lock resistance and pick a TC like 120 or 165?

Update: my PID is 4000, 600, 10 with boost at 20% and I'm getting good performance my first time pairing the V1 with the VTC Dual. TC 180 seemed a bit hot so I lowered it to 165 and I'm getting fairly even roasting and good clouds from 360 to 380°.

This set up has worked really well for me. http://fuckcombustion.com/resources/splinter-tubomyevic-quick-start-guide.27/

Hit it last night at 33 watts. Really nice. Amazing flavor, clouds, even color AVB. Now I’m thinking about buying a v2, dear god...

Since you have a Splinter already maybe you should consider a Splinter Z V1??

Grab this custom high flow version as long as you can get one, it's really something special!

I have a high flow Bubinga. What settings are you using? I must be doing something wrong, because I am not impressed (and I am sure properly set-up is is impressive).

I don't know that sneaky Pete or PIU have the v2 yet)

They had a Splinter V2 on sale on 4/20.

I have a custom Z which I bought from @VGOODIEZ during their 420 sale. I imagine I’ll use that and this new Splinter for awhile before I get a v2, but the VAS is calling - that blackwood is beautiful.

Side question: I bought a Paranormal 250c for the Splinter Z and my Stempod Si, but I’m kind of happy with wattage mode. Is it overkill? What box mod would people recommend for the Splinter? if this is off topic I’ll take it elsewhere...

I keep trying vapes, but i cant knock the splinter from the number 1 slot.

I brought another splinter v2. I know the glass is kinda thin and it might break but i dont care. I would just buy another. Performance wise i am not sure i have had better. Imp comes a close 2nd and stempod 3rd. I now just have just 2 splinters and a imp and i am quite happy. Money in the bank for FW6 and a saionara for concentrates. Will i ever be happy?

I love my Splinter as well. Its just easy to use.

I have an imp and I'm not getting consistent results. I'm sure its my fault. Can you share a little of your technique? Is this inappropriate to ask this in this thread? If so, I'm sorry and would gladly take the same advice on the imp thread or via dm. TIA.

EDIT: I will take this Q over to the imp thread to be safe.

I would like to know if you can open the heater part on the Splinter V1 +
Nope its sealed under the glass and screen.

Edit: but if you are asking because your worried about the "coil" being replaceable then stop worrying because it's not a coil at all. It's a beefy stainless steel mesh heater that you should never have to replace and doesn't oxidize much because it doesn't glow.

Does the hi-flow make a big difference? The flow with just the two holes is already very good, hardly any resistance at all.

Ryan isn't making 4-holes anymore. They weren't as popular. So if you want one, you better pick it up while it's still available:
I still have bubinga available including hi flow models.

This is what I posted back in Aug. '18:
Ryan is now making both 2 or 4 hole Splinters & Splinter Zs (he showed them off in the stream when I mentioned the above), but don't know when the 4 holes will be available, nor did he say when the Splinter Z would either. (In the stream, he was working on a Mi2 batch.) Now, I hope I can express this correctly. The 2 hole version is the version that will be appropriate for most people. The 4 hole version is the high airflow version for those who want to rip at high wattage through water to get those HUGE clouds (he demo'd both the 2 & 4 hole versions), & it's especially great for dabbing. You can use the holes like carbs & cover 1 or 2 of them to build up initial heat. He said something about airflow & backflow, but it went over my head. He said to knock down the airflow on the 4 hole, you can insert corks in the holes. He said the best option would be some type of rotating airflow ring, but he's far from that type of upgrade, if at all. He just decided during the stream that he may include corks with the 4-hole to block the extra airflow when desired. Although I predominantly use my Splinter through water, I don't dab & my lungs can't handle high wattage (too hot) or voluminous vapor. So I'm a 2-hole Splinter/Z for sure.

I should read more closely, you answered my question. Thank you! The 4-hole is not a good fit for me.

Waiting on what can be done with my custom splinter hi flo that cracked on me this weekend. I doubt they are going to fix it. Which is a bummer since I didn't drop it.

I probably will not buy another rbt product with glass. Luckily I have other vapes while I wait.
Just a heads up i got an email that ryan is going to fix my splinter. Dont know the conditions just yet but that is good news.

I mainly use my hi flo dry and its still awesome. The cooling mouth piece even adds a little more drag. I like having the option of covering two holes if i need to also.

I’ve put some 3mm glass beads in my junior XL8R ..with a basket screen on top to keep them in ..poked holes in it with pin to improve airflow

Seems to improve cooling ...of course you can change the number of beads you put in
..Maybe slight loss of taste if you put a lot in

Got them from Bud

I see that you also have a Z. How does it compare to the Z?

As I wrote earlier in this thread, for the "normal" use (weed in the original stem or a XL8R) I much prefer the Splinter Z. Put the High Flow away after a few tries and thought about selling it. But some weeks ago I run completely out of weed and got only hash left. Had not found any portable vape that could meet all my needs, so try and error testing went on. Got a P80, gave the High Flow another try via a j-hook at 33 watt and wow, best portable hash vaping solution for me up to now. Much better than same setup with the Splinter Z. Can't exactly say why, seems to be the not even a bit restricted airflow and/or the 4 holes give a more even air supply too, I don't know :D

High Flow Splinter with P80 and j-hook and clip + leather band for one handed vaping:

Had another good microdosing experience this weekend with the V1 and the Paranormal.

Since the Splinter and Z are so legit for flavor I almost always start lowish and temp step. This time I only had the basket screen maybe a quarter full and got two big hits at 38w. I want to try this approach with lower wattage now to find a sweet spot between clouds and terps. I was impressed by how dense the hits were at high wattage though.

I'm starting feel like the move is to mostly only vape half a bowl at a time just to start fresh twice as often.

I’ve been getting good cloud and great flavor from a single hit off a bowl at 30W. I just took one hit of PPD last night before bed and it was the perfect bedtime microdose.
