The Screwball by Vapvana

I have started to use my Screwball today after not using it for a month or so. I am running it at 280C threw a small water bubbler. Was running it at 230 then 260 but for me it works much better at 280C.

I will still use my Dani Fusion 2 and TA3 but for the next bit will be testing with this.

Update on my Ace and the Ace heater post
"Sorry about the delay, but we did not receive the parts like we expected, we only received more kits. Cal is in touch with manufacturing to determine when we will receive the parts and he is planning to send an email when he knows more."

Just trying to stay patient here.

Also have not received shipping info yet, nor any communication. Going to reach out to them again but the repeated date changes communicated only at last minute are not confidence inspiring.

Warranty Ace bowl arrived and the screen issue is resolved. The new bowl holds all of the Vapvana supplied screens, new and old, snugly. The original bowl must have had a larger inner diameter than desired spec.

I've been really happy with the Ace and post-purchase customer care one week into ownership. Since my last post I've been playing with lower temps (~210*C) to see how the experience compares with S&B products: better taste, smoother, and a much more efficient end to end process -- if preheated.

Anyone taking notes on how long they wait to hit their first bowl after startup? I've been giving it 10-20 min.

I've been doing 15min for preheats. I just got the pinch hitter bowl today, and for me its a game changer. Amazing flavorful one and done rips.

I'd been back and forth on the Ace kit. On one hand, Vapvana sell amazing stuff, but on the other hand it can be tough to support their customer service.

Thankfully my favourite local seller here in Australia had the kits - along with the Crossing Wireless head on it's own, which fits the hot hole perfectly - so I was able to feel good about buying it from a service perspective.

One question for people that already have it - could you suggest a good temp starting point for the quartz banger?

Update received today:
"Unfortunately we are still waiting to receive all the Ace Accessories & 220v Kits from the pre-order. Our manufacturer communicated that everything remaining will ship this week, and we will ship out the remaining pre-orders ASAP after the shipment lands.

I apologize for the unexpected delays. If anyone would like a refund please respond here with your order #. We are also able to update your order to a complete kit at a discounted price if you'd prefer that.

Thank you again for your patience ..."

I plan to be patient. I did ask about the discount for the kit out of curiosity. I don't have much use for the wood, but some of the other parts I may be able to use like the heater coil in my own custom rig. I am really excited to try out the Ace and hope it arrives sooner than later.

I was told 389, plus the coupon code you used applied, then they remove the heater and adjust the invoice. I asked to see one to see what that actually looks like if I get an update I'll post it for yah
Thanks I got same info, but I’m trying to figure out if that 389 is the same I would’ve paid for a kit back in August when I ordered the heater alone.

Anyone into concentrates here? I've been dropping money left and right with various e-rigs like the Puffco Proxy, DTV5 with a DNA mod, Evolv Cricket, Carta 2, Dr Dabber Switch, Puffco Pivot, iSpire's Induction Wand and V-Wand, etc..., trying to find the perfect solution. Well, I'm here to tell you the Screwball might be it! It's insanely proficient and efficient with Live Resin/Rosin (haven't tried other extracts like shatter, but I'm sure it'll work just fine). The pinch hitter bowl is also perfect for this as it restricts and speeds up airflow, and has a smaller screen perfect for a resin/rosin dab.

Just pad the screen with a layer of vaping cotton (like cotton bacon) and put a dab right in the middle. Don't need to do any sandwiching and anything. Just the dab right on top of the cotton. I run about 50c higher than I would for flower, which is about 240-250c on a calibrated system. Takes half a pull to get the concentrate melted in, but after that is insane flavour and thick clouds.

Took me by surprise and quickly got me baked through the roof! Finding it lasts for a good 2 to 3 pulls off a small tiny dab, so it seems to be quite efficient as well. Also, no more iso, swabbing, or any of that junk. You know it's done when the vapor cuts off pretty suddenly. Just throw away the used cotton and put more in for the next sesh. And my glass still looks pristine with no concentrate runoff. What a wonderful thing convection is! Going to have to try some other concentrates like bubble hash, etc..., and see if I have the same positive results!

Still amazed at the flavour and vapor it threw out! Wow.

I've been running 550F lately. Last night I tried a dab at that temp and it was pretty nice and tasty. Has anyone tried the 18mm glass adapter that comes with the hybrid bowl? I tossed a screen in it and its a nice little glass bowl...just needs a small handle to grab after warming it up.

Unfortunately, I've given up on the pinch hitter as of last night. I got new o-rings after mine bled green, and the new ones bled even worse. The new o-rings also caused the 14mm glass to get stuck, and now it's in pieces. I'm back to my own glass bowl. Those new bowls are junk. They should get rid of the o-rings completely, drill/machine a 14mm female connection on the bottom where the glass would have gone, and supply a short 14mm male to male adapter.

Ordered the Ace kit plus Screwball hybrid bowl. I should be getting it sometime this week (a little confused on the tracking, still shows AZ after order places Thursday). My only other experience has been TEDSs (Dynavap and then Tempest). What should I expect for performance relative to the Tempest? I'm also a concentrate novice. I've used concentrate in flower and on cotton. I've done a simple nail setup and some playing around with the Wand stuff when I didn't know what I was doing and didn't do it right. But this will be my first legit dab rig. Have both the Cell water pieces (big and small) and the small globe (currently using this the most, running it dry). So help me know what I need to know since y'all know what I don't know. From what I glean from around these here parts: run it around 545 and go from there.

Just remember that the coil temp doesn't equal the temp the material sees. Start with a low temp, and work up until you get what you want. I tried working down from a high heat but my throat paid the price. It's does take a bit longer to dial in any ball vape. Anytime you set a new temp, you should let the head equalize to the new setting. It could take a few minutes.

I'm finding concentrates need more heat to vaporize properly, so when you sandwich it in flower, either the flower or the concentrate isn't at an optimal temp. Do them separately.

In under 24 hours the ACE partial kit (No PID) was sold out from Recommend Vape Supplies - take from this what you will. They do however still have the full kit is still available

It just seems a bit expensive to me but am sure it is worth it as everything I hear about it is very positive.

We really should have a thread for this with these posts about it posted here posted or just a brand new thread.

The ACE partial kit is back in stock at RVS here in EU while the pinch hitter is not again yet.

This will be back out of stock soon i bet as will the pinch hitter as soon as it gets back in stock.

So who has the ACE and the screwball and how do they compare hit wise.? I am sure it is ok to compare these 2 vapes in this thread?

Since I got a bit depressed recently I have turned to my screwball and am so glad I bought it. I will start to use my other vapes again soon but fro now i need the hit the screwball gives. I am running it at 270C.

Anyone have any idea what the threading is for the hothole stand/ screwball post? Finally got them in from my order back in August (still waiting on bangers) and the threading is much wider than the typical 1/4-20 we see on these things. The hot hole post doesn’t state the threading and the heat post listing has been taken down. Really kind of disappointing this was not labeled, I would have already bought new inserts if I knew this was the case…

I know we don’t have industry standards for this stuff but it seems like the lesson could have been taken from the threading on the OG bowl.

Edit: went to the hardware store and used the thread finder. You will need m8x1.25 inserts to use these in wood.
