The Screwball by Vapvana

My Screwball has arrived.

Burn off complete. I followed the quick start guide and used 260C as a starting point.

I found the vapor harsh at that temp.

Any suggestions? Tips?
I get decent vapour with the PID set as low as 190C, and generally won't go higher than 230C or so.

If I'm looking for bigger clouds, I'll typically heatsoak the bowl (to the extent that this is possible) by leaving the heater on top for a couple of minutes before loading any flower. I find this preserves the flavour a little better than doing a heatsoak after filling the bowl.

Yeah I wouldn't be too worried about getting bits and pieces like that through. I'd argue that vapes requiring an external heat source (butane TEDs, ball vape heaters) aren't captured by this legislation anyway, if you look into their definition of a vaporizer. But I understand why people would be hesitant.

A full kit ball vape kit is a slightly different story, admittedly, but it's such an odd looking piece of equipment that people wouldn't even know what they're looking at anyway lol. Could even ask to have it shipped disassembled to cover yourself a little more?

Still loving my Screwball too! Recently got a friend of mine onto the SB too. Pretty much everyone I've shown it to has been floored the thing!
recently got a full kit, was even written on the side exactly what it was, customs let it through, I think its very specific things they are looking for at the moment, but give it time, so far Ive had a screwball heater, thermal accumulators, and parts like a lot of parts... It's more specific things I think they are stopping and mainly juices & related devices

I have mine set to 255c (490f) as I am trying for really stoney hits and I find anything lower doens't hit the mark.

I had to look up the conversion as I use all my vapes in F even though I am an Aussie and we do C its just easier as so many devices have it set as the default and lots of the documents and research is in F ah well...

I am really looking forward to the microdose bowl first run, really hoping to get my hands on one of them :)

After tinkering with temps between 450F-485F (232C-252C), I found 465F (241C) to be a very good sweet spot for taste and extraction. I think it's important to mention I'm using the half bowl configuration.

With that being said, everyone's got their own preference. Do some testing at different temps until you find something that works for you. From what I've seen from others, lower temps are good for this device.

It's funny, I usually go for a high temperature stony effect on most of my devices, but with the Screwball I haven't gone above 440F yet (I've only had it a week). I think any hotter than that and I'd end up coughing for an hour.

I usually use the full bowl but 1/2 filled so I need the extra heat

How do people go about cleaning the bowl? Is the screen easy enough to pop out? I haven't had to do it yet.

I feel like the reclaim goop that collects on the bottom of these titanium bowls will be amazing for stem milk.

Good to hear - I've got a Convector XL on the way, and I would be very surprised if customs had the slightest clue as to what it was lol. I think you're right that they're moreso on the hunt for nic vapes (and larger shipments at that) as opposed to the odd dry herb vape - especially 'unusual' ones like a ball vape or dynavap-esque TED.

And yeah the micro dose bowl looks sick! I occasionally use the screwball with a glass bowl that almost fits the heater perfectly (but has a bit of a wobble) and the flavour's great. Something that was actually designed to fit will be so much better.

I haven't done much of a collection, I prefer to just iso clean with a little heat or friction.

yeah exactly, considering it said "flower diffuser" on the manifest suggests the same thing

agreed, i've used a lot of bowls with it and I keep coming back to the original screwball bowl even though it cost me more in material :)

Happy April!

Hey Y'all

Finally getting caught up after being out of commission from covid for ~2 weeks :( Good news is me and the fam at home are feeling better, and things are getting moving for April.

Let's jump into what's new :D

Video Update

Been awhile since I recored a video update, so I figured why not show off some of the recent prototypes :science:

Current Presale Changes

The following changes are being implemented in the current presale (~100 kits).

The remaining inventory is listed on our site, and once they sell out then the estimated ship date will be pushed back until the second part of production is complete (~400 kits).

You can use code 'FC10' for 10% off and support future giveaways here

Screwball Lid + Housing Update

0d29dd46911c2970d288506eb629d0bb.jpg

Since the testing went well with the SS prototype, we are moving forward with this design change.

IMO, the main benefits with this change will be:
  • Help keep dust out of the gems
  • Leaves space for branded collaborations (companies can have their logo laser engraved on top)
From my testing, it seems like the performance is similar (hard to tell exactly since its SS and not Ti) and the airflow is the same or slightly improved.

New Lid + Housing Upgrade Availability

After the titanium version is tested and approved, the second part of production will begin for ~400 kits.

Once the second part is complete, we will have a listing available to purchase the upgraded parts (housing + lid) for current Screwball owners. I will also be working with our partnered retailers to have the upgraded parts available too.

The price is estimated to be ~$30 USD with free shipping, but I still need to receive a final price from our manufacturer.

Branded PID + Coil

The PID is getting a cosmetic makeover with new teal end caps & buttons, and our logo + serial number on the back.

Coach Reuben Coming To Life

I've been working with our illustrator to update Coach Reuben for the next round of stickers, and wanted to give a preview of some of the quick start guide that's still in the works.

Microdose Bowl Prototype Preview

Here is a sneak peak at the latest mockup I was sent for the next round of changes to the microdose bowl.

IMG_0716.jpg

As long as there are no issues, I'm hoping we can move forward with an early adopters round for the microdose bowl (and possibly the 20mm version).

Glass Bowls

Still need to make a 2nd round of prototypes with Goldman Glass, and I plan to start working on an import version too for a more affordable option.

Pass Thru Adapters

The glass pass thru is technically an injector bowl first. Our manufacturer uses it for another product they offer, so it's easier for us to buy it as as stock item (which is why it comes with the screen installed already).

Awesome mockup! Thanks for sharing @Pinball-Vapes

PID Issues + Warranty Form Link

It seems like on occasion these PIDs will make this noise. If you are experiencing this problem or anything else with your kit, please use this form and we / I will take care of you

4/20 Sales

I'm working on getting some accessories listed on our site for a 4/20 sale. I'm hoping to have everything ready by this Friday the latest.

Next Update

I'm hoping to have some new prototypes sent to me in the next couple of weeks. I will update y'all once I have more to share.

If anyone needs anything please send an email to hi@vapvana.com

Talk soon,
Cal
when do you think the "micro" bowl early adopter set will go on sale? will that be a smaller bowl for the screwball or will this be for the 20mm model?

I'd consider the M7 (or any M, really). The B is fine but its limitations will become obvious all too soon. If you really like the B's silicone body, you could grab another M tip with it.

I enjoy this vape. It heats up quickly for a desktop and hits very nice. I love the color red and keep opening the top to look at the rubies. The only complaint, not a big one, I had was the handle. It reminded me of the handle on some budget exercise equipment.

Ed, @Ed's TnT stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park with this TnT-ville Slugger. This big stick is the perfect handle for a vape called the screwball. Have your day in full swing, and grab this bat for your next dinger.

I saw someone recommended a golf tee and pushing it from below . Not a golfing person so I don't have 1 I use the flat end of my scoop . I also use it to tamp my bowl

Woot woot, looks great my man, glad to hear youre enjoying it.

When I hear screwball I think of baseball, felt a torched white ash handle similar in style to a Louisville slugger would be a nice compliment.

Will have more of these done soon enough if anyone is interested, pls let me know.

Thanks again for the work @HughJundys was a pleasure to do so.
