I'm still unclear on what the 8 does. What does a "mechanical top" mean? How is it different than the regular Persei top I have? Don't get me wrong, I want it but I'd just like to know why I want it (other than the promised surprise). The ability to switch between 510 and 610 is pretty sweet.
The 8 is a mechanical top, meaning no electronics in the top what so ever, it can be rebuilt so this means the top is going to last forever, or as long as we are in business or if there is aftermarket parts for it if lets say we stop existing.

Just to double check, if we do the pre order, we'll be able to buy any/all other 8 parts that might come in a complete kit later on, at a later date?

@ED421 I think many of us are asking what exactly is this 8 top? Many of us started the vape pen craze with UP tech products. I know a lot of members here vape e juice. If you were/are involved in the e cig world, then chances are you know about craze about "mechanical tops". Very simple tops that make a physical electrical connection when the button is pushed. If you ask me, this 8 is geared more towards the e juice market. They like to stack batteries and put out crazy amounts of voltage. The persei head will not allow over 7.4. This 8 top, well the sky is the limit to how much power u want. I think u can get to 14+ volts with a persei "wand". That's if u are crazy enough. Also this top can run super low ohm set ups. Unlike iris, classic persei top. The 8 is for advanced users who own a voltmeter. And know how to use that voltmeter. There is no more 3 light flash if ur hercules shorts out during assembly, since no more electronics inside. So if you ask me, the 8 is for people who are into high power E cig RDA mods and vaping oils. So it gives that customer base everything they want in one UP TECH quality package. I am not into vaping e juice so I am happy with current persei/iris/original v3 top. Then again that stainless steel construction looks nice. The feel and sound of a mechanical switch is tempting......but ultimately I don't really need this top unless UP tech releases attachments in the future that require 7.4+ Volts or are super low resistance(ohms). I don't think there's future plans to make a specific attachment for the 8 unless it's for the e cig market.

A mechanical top is the same way. It is a direct route from the battery through a switch and to the center post. Whatever the battery puts out is what happens when you push the button with nothing in between. This is different than most e-cigs and vaporizers which have load limitations/safety features (resistance in ohms represented by Ω), voltage ranges (for low battery detection etc) and over limit. A mechanical mod has none of these things. If you don't know how to use a DVOM and have a basic understanding of electronics you might not want one!
Testing the 8 with a Kayfun Atty.
I currently don't have a Persei but am interested in "The 8". If I pre-order the 8 to take advantage of whatever surprise #2 is, what else would I have to buy to complete the pic above (other than a kayfun).
Would the parts needed be available to purchase separately?

G just told me that all other parts will be available at a later date.
That could be just a center tube to make a full 8 vape (and batteries, charger, carts, etc to make a kit) but there are more surprises still to come! Anything is possible!
The Presale 8 Top looks like it's intended for FC'ers who already own Persei's and have been waiting for a Mechanical Top for some time! The 8 as a complete kit will not be available until after this Top offer is GONE!

Actually if im not mistaken one of the GG tanks had it where you run the wick under the cover. long time ago when i worked with Imeo, in fact the reason he came up with that name on his units is because we called it the imeos back in 2010.

The Reason we came up with the Persei is because he was a dick, and would not fix the flaws in his vapes.
Still have a few of them units man, yes as far as the oil vape industry goes we are one of the original 3 pioneers of it from 2008. Vapor rush was one of them and one other company thats not called vape pen that i shall not mention. As far as the ecig market goes GG and Altsmoke had their chance to make their units known through this industry.
Imeo didnt fix his issues and altsmoke didnt even want to be in this market.
Original oil filled carts was us, we pioneered that market and bankrupted a few companies on our way to the top.
So ya we have a place in the history books but i dont think its going to be the main stream history books, its more of the underground truth books.

Go with the PERSEI/ hercules kit. U have the safety features with the PERSEI. Very important if you are learning how to use the Hercules.
You can't go wrong with the Persei or the 8 if you wait, but like @Fredster951 said if your new to the Up Tech line up then the Persei is better.
As far as the Herc 74x full 74x kits are not available yet as the 74x upgrades are still being manufactured. Once we have the upgrades for previous owners of the sr74 then we will look into upgrading our current stock before we ship it out.

No offense at all to THC because I have the utmost respect for yall the way you handle your business here, but I dont think I would buy a Bender vape. From the videos Ive watched it seems like you can pack a bunch and make it a LONG session vape but it seemed to take quite sometime to blow out actual vapor (I understand that anything blown out is "wasted" but I like to see my vapors).

Which video did you watch? It's true the bender is raw user controlled unit where you have to learn using it, but we have been able to produce large clouds.
No worries my friend we always welcome everyone. While I'll admit that our vapes have had some issues, but I for one can't sit here and not fix any issues that come up.
We started out as patients building vapes for patients and we would like everyone to feel satisfied and get the same level of service we require from others.

I just found a new video that does use the bender and he blows out some nice clouds!
So all In all it was a mistake on my part...looks like a very interesting unit to try out for sure! Kind of has me intrigued now honestly.
