I'm still pretty new so I'm not sure about the iris tops. So you put in 2 18350's and then the iris let's you pick what voltage you want to pass to the cart? That sounds magical, like a portable core. Also seems like the internet is out of them.....
Edit: Yay, donut shipped. Fingers crossed it comes tomorrow.
more or less you're right. of course it is battery powered, not an infinite wall supply, but my iris lets me run anything from 3.5-7.4 volts. mind you i'm extremely cautious with my v1 iris because it has a nasty habit of firing at 7.4 for brief periods no matter what it is set too. it's part of why it was discontinued. mind you with the herc no harm done, but i wouldn't dare put much else on it until the v2 unit is finalized.
as i use the iris exclusively for the sr71 it's no issues for me. i tired a 1.8ohm bottom vertical coil on it once hoping to dial down from full 3.7 persei power. killed the coil on the test fire due to shooting 7.4 in it. lesson learned. i wouldn't recommend an iris to anyone except a connoisseur using a herc until the v2 is out. then, depending on the features the v2 sports i'd probably recommend it as a mandatory attachment to the system. i refused to buy a persei/herc until a found an iris abvailable, and though i don't use it all the time, i can't imagine owning this amazing modular unit without including this part, or the core which i NEED.
*edit
@gary i'm really hoping the v2 goes lower than 3.5.....one of my favorite ranges for certain things is 5.1-5.2w which usually works out to around 3v-3.5v depending on the coil. i'm a cloud chasing huge vapor kinda guy but i never compromise flavor quality with flavor volume and some craft juices just seem to crave lower power. mind you this is one vaper's opinion. you're gear is customizable enough to sort just about any desire out, but in the vv/vw world it drives me nuts when i have no low power options just to get high power options. i want versatility. part of the reason i bought a persei after much research is that it really is hard to find another system capable of powering the herc. very few options and exist and none in the form factor i like. couple that with your innovation and customer service, along with the future proof design of your flagship system and i couldn't beat it. anywhere.
