I'm still not entirely sure if i need to be worried about anytting else when stacking 18650s in my persei because when I look up informations on such things I only find ecig forums and those fools use mechanical tubes. I cant imagine wanting to have a 100% unregulated amd unprotected battery circuit in your mouth but whatever.
So how do you feel about having a Persei loaded with two of the hottest batteries you can find when the electronics takes a dump (like has happened to so many guys with minor assembly issues on SR71?)? If it goes to a short, as some have, you get that "100% unregulated and unprotected battery circuit in your mouth" potential big time. You only to have the
FUSE (spring) to protect you. Only it could be defeated because it's tightened up to ensure solid contact in the battery stack.
If there's no slack in the stack to break the circuit when the spring collapses it really doesn't matter if it does or not, the stage is set for the bomb scenario.
Without that spring there really isn't much difference between us and what those fools are using really if the electronics fail.
That's the downside. While it's no doubt true some guys can be very careful here and stay safe, others will read 'get XXX batteries and you get big clouds'.......G's stand is, I think, the only safe one. If the maker says using flat tops in his product is not safe, at the base level that kind of ends the discussion in my book. If some poor guy got hurt from misunderstood advice from here I'd feel real bad, as I'm sure most would?
