Still diggin’ on this Kiss A.C.!
I personally find myself wanting more air flow so I've ditched the sleeve. That was better. Then I drilled out the two smaller air intake holes of the Bottom Assembly to match that of the largest, 5/64". That was a great improvement. But I have had issues with the air intake of the coil cup clogging. So I've added a carb at the base of the shield,1/16". This allows a little air circulation upward across the outside of the coil giving enough airflow and time as the product is melting and finally the coil cup air inlet has opened while heating. Kinda like other pen devices get "Tornado" effect. This has proved very successful for me. Really dig the Single Ti as it is most efficient. And still great taste/vapor production. Can’t Wait.. for Ti wrapped glass!!!!

I don't know what's hasty about me loving my Sr-71...
Absolute perfection upgraded to gr-2 titanium never looked back. Never had a problem with floating coil or leaking into reclaim tank. Unless I pass it to someone who knows more than what I am explaining. I try not to pass my herc around.
If I had my way I'd have a bunch of v1 tops & Sr-71's I'm just old school. Not saying I won't try something new. I'm just gonna have 4or5 sr71's in back up.
Extended stays in the hospital sr-71 always does the job...
The sr-71 kicks ass, and you should love it; don't tell G not to innovate, though. The new AC/3rd gen KISS dual coil kills it, in comparison to previous LayG coils. He decimated the LayG cart designs with the recent ones. I'd love to be blown away by a new herc (not much room for innovation here, of course) or a whole new device. UPTECH continues to surprise, and I like to be pleasantly surprised.

When I can appreciate the efforts and idea of change, I just expected a more complex prototype. I think the Hercules as it is, is damn near perfect. I'm not denying the need for cool down hits on the Hercules. What I wish and hope for is a whole different design that can eliminate the need for cool down hits.
Okay this is just an idea. What if there is an atomizer that is consisted of a 1701 on the bottom and another cartridge closely above with its own heating element of some kind that is used just to heat up the oil chamber enough for it to start dripping down to the ceramic donut to be vaped.

So there would be 2 different fire buttons. One to make the oils drip down. The other to fire the donut.

Just a wild idea and probably won't work. It would be awesome if you guys can go in a completely different direction than the Hercules though.

we actually have that design, its in the EO carts, doesnt work to well, since you now have oil on top of the heater, thats warm, and then gets even more warm.

How much would you be willing to pay for an atomizer of this design?

it doenst work, i have designs for things that cost 2-5k to build and thats on a production run.

Simply put there probably wont be anything better then the Hercules until Utopia Comes along And thats not portable and wont be cheap either.

Someone convince me to buy an SR-71!

I hear over and over again on this thread about how everyone loves it but I've never really been able to understand why it is preferred over the SR-74. In terms of the Hercules I've only ever used the SR-74 w/ 7.4v white rod and it is great.

The sr71 has a friction fit on the gold center post instead of the spring loaded one of the 74 it also has a larger upper chamber better suited to running two coils and has a lower ohm rod that gets hot faster and provides faster vapor production I haven't used my sr74 since I got my 71

Yeah I've never had the issue people sometimes report about the spring loaded center post getting stuck. I guess that's why it hasn't ever really bother me at all.

The 74x had a smaller upper chamber which is why I never ended up using my upgrade. I have the original SR-74 and it can accommodate two Ti coils nicely.

Do you find the heat up being quicker to be really advantageous? I've never felt like the SR-74 took a long time but I don't have anything to compare it to. So the SR-71 is basically instant vapor on button press?

@THC SCIENTIFIC Is this your handiwork?

I wonder how I would like trying my 2 coil 71 setup w/ my 74x rod as the heater...

So I just picked a Core up in Classifieds, and tested it out. Worked great, just a few quick questions.

1) If I want to mimic freshly charged batteries, I should set the Core to 8.4V. Because the Persei outputs straight battery voltage until it gets too low, right? So freshly charged batteries would be 8.4V.

2) The body tube that came with the Core is interchangeable with any other Persei body tube, correct? Reason I ask, I currently have a teal body and black head. I'd like to put the teal body on the Core, and have the black body with the black head when out and about. I'd still have to use the teal end cap for the moment, but better then nothing.

Thanks!

1.) I start at 7.4v on the core. From there I adjust up or down. Feel free to experiment with the core.

2.) yes

Also, try to rember that the voltage limitations are set by your top, not by the core. That means you can set the core to 5V and it will be ready to go, but when you hit the button, your top will likely fail out due to the built in protection.

As for the body of the Persei... My new V2 lives on the core exclusively so I don't have to worry about low voltage drop when using the dual coil AC.

How are you guys liking your 8? Are the body and head interchangeable with the persei?

Has anyone used the Kiss AC single coil at 3.7v? Started messing with it last night, experienced a long warm up time but tasty vapor.
That single Ti is really efficient. I'm using as low as 8 watts. And can handle higher wattage for heavier dab pulls when needed. Good battery life.

Not instant but definitely faster and I think that helps with leakage as I'm holding the button for a shorter amount of time in all and using the same lengthy cooldowns also in my experience if your oil leaks down the rod into the center post that's when it gets stuck but mine only did that a couple times

I enjoy my 8 quite a bit but I'm kinda shy of putting dissimilar metals together

I got that with my dual coil on the kiss ac and my kiss 3 dual coil. After using it at 7.4 it didn't seem to fire as well at 3.7. I figured I just burned them out a little. I've gotten new coils and kiss 3's since then, but I haven't tried them at both 3.7 & 7.4 to see if they have the same issue. I've mostly just been doing kiss ac dual coil at 7.4 since it came out.

I can't wait until the replacement kiss ac glass comes in.

Interesting. All my coils are used at 7.4. So in other words I should not mix voltages to preserve a 3.7 coil?

I wouldn't say that without trying it out some more and I don't think I've seen anyone else talk about this.

Do people here think running at 7.4 would make them less effective at 3.7? Burn them out a little in a way that is more noticeable at 3.7? Maybe riding the button too much at 7.4?

Do many people use 2 Ti coils in the SR-74x? I see the rod doesn't stick up high enough to go through the second coil, but unsure if that causes any issues.

I know I'd have to add more to saturate the second coil, but loading more and less frequently would be a good thing for me.

The sr74x was designed more for a single coil I don't think it would perform properlywith 2 coils but I haven't tried it I may be wrong

Were talking kiss 3s right? I fired my kiss 3 three or 4 times at 7.4 and it most certainly is less effective at 3.7 now. I have to hold the button forever and carb the intake holes to get proper clouding.

Talking about the Kiss AC cart. Is the kiss gen 3 similar?
