been out of oil for a few days and revisiting dry herb in the herc since i had a small amount left and i must say the sr71 handles it very well tho i think im combusting
Should I just use a fuse like the one that comes w/ the 8 or a vapesafe2, like its a mech mod?
Like this one (which looks the same as the 8 one)
Fair enough. Hopefully Gary will have something to add, since it's about the same as the 8 fuse (I'd also happily buy a w9 fuse, but they aren't available separately on the site)Well, I don't have any experience with that product so it's hard for me to say if that's a good thing to add or not. It does say that the fuse will fail itself eventually, and I don't know if it gives a good indication of that. If the fuse had blown, and you had a short in your Hercules assembly, you'd blow the top on the Persei. I'd just test the Hercules before using it because I'm cheap, but if those fuses clearly let you know whether they're good or blown you might like them. I really can't say.
Can I just rehydrate a little in preparation, and get decent results? The SR-71 heats up so quickly that it will combust unless you slowly work the temperature up with very fine button control. I have vaped a full chamber of herb without turning it black in the 71 before but it took many previous combustion failures to learn the technique. I think it helps if the herb is a little moist, my stuff was too dry so made good results hard.
Yeah, it's a concern, there's no short circuit protection in V1 tops. Make sure you test your Hercules' resistance before each an every use and you'll have no problems.
I don't think there's enough room in the tube of the Persei to accomodate 2x 18350's with a fuse without putting too much pressure on the bottom pin of the Persei Top. The 8 and the V4 Persei have a much more durable bottom pin and can handle the extra preload on the spring; V1-V3 Persei tops have a pin that can get pushed inside if too much force is exerted on it.Should I just use a fuse like the one that comes w/ the 8 or a vapesafe2, like its a mech mod?

What cartridges have you tried on your Persei? The KISS Mini should be the same as a Hercules, KISS cartridge or KISS Globe- the center post will make contact before the cart tightens flush. Don't keep tightening, finger tight is all you need to go!I was wondering why they dont screw all the way down though. It looks wonky and nu-finished. Definitely NOT something I have come to associate with W9Tech gear. Could I have got a bad batch of mini's, or is it my Persei top @THC SCIENTIFIC ?
i have given quite a few persei/herc setups to friends, but always needed to also buy AW batteries. the stock batteries, in some cases, wouldn't even heat an OE cart. (total DOA)there lies the issue, the hercules requires AW IMR batteries.
@StickyShisha kits with better batteries are in the works, but for the Persei and 8 they are going totally battery less and charger less. people will need to source their own or purchase them online.
We simply cant rely on the quality of chinese batteries as they claim one thing and often just disappoint.
@420time The Kiss Alpha Centauri will have a 1701 heater specifically designed for it, plus other surprises left to show off.

Ok...so I will have to source my own batteries. That should be easy enough. I am a little disappointed that this is a known issue and has not been remedied.
Thanks for the response. Still no reply from the site.

w9tech sells AW batteries. they work great. price is close enough to other battery sources.
i was only complaining about the shitty stock batteries. I'm glad to hear that new kits will be without batteries.
i will contact w9tech and they will take care of it i am sure

Word. I'd have ordered a charger and a ton more accessories/bits off the site yesterday, but there's no separate charger available at all right now (thought I saw one previously, couldn't find a damn thing last night), had to spend ages researching something that wasn't crap and used Amazon in the end.I'll just +1 this.
Both the stock batteries and stock charger are known to be of low quality. It is confusing for a first time buyer because they come bundled with the Persei. Much better just to remove them from the bundle. Basically sell the Persei just like you do the 8. I would suggest trying to stock a legit charger on the UP Tech site as well so people don't have to order from multiple sites to get up and running.

The hercules states it needs aw batteries, not sure how more it can be rectified as the generic IMR batteries are not strong enough, including all kits with AW was a thought but doing so increases the price even further.

also....i found some pvtso 18350 3.7v 800maH......can these be used in place of AWIMR?
