I know, that's why i came here and asked opinions on the best way to make it work before id ordered. I did get a few suggestions but not that i could just buy the damn good one. Shit happens i guess, I've got it working for now and yea next time i order I'm sure ill be adding the proper 71 bottom adapter.

Let me test something tomorrow and see if it can be done the easiest way.

I was wondering what are some of your favorite settings for the sr71 and sr74x on the core?

Ok so I fell asleep with my hercules 74 on my persei well I wake up and they are separated and now I can't screw my hercules in to the top anymore it looks like I broke the threads on the Hercules is there anyway I can order this bottom part to it? I really don't want to spend another $100 when there's other attachments I was about to buy

And produces wispy vapor. Most of my load ends up on the bottom chAmber. Seems like I need a new button assembly. Tried adjusting the gold screw but no good results. Swapped button parts with my friends 8 and it works perfect. How can I purchase new gold pins/button assembly ?

id rather not have to place another order i just bought the 71 and core (they arrived a few hours ago) and i had asked about using them with the nibbler a few times before ordering and was never told the compatible ones were available or id have ordered it at the same time guess ill just diy it and grind out a groove

The bottom insulator of the SR-71 was a mechanical flathead screw adjustable design; the SR-74 was a double spring loaded pin design. Newer SR-74x we've gone back to the solid, SR-71 style bottom adapter due to the increased reliability of that design. Most likely cause is you didn't have the contact screw behind the button adjusted correctly, or if you did, it wiggled it's way loose with use. Two wraps of Teflon tape is a nice trick if you have worn out the threading and now the button moves easily; you could always open a ticket if you need to purchae any unlisted replacement parts if yours melted/arced/wore out I'll do my best to help you out.

It's a mechanical switch, something is off. Replacing the switch won't fix the issue, unless we know why exactly it's happening.

Do you have a voltage meter?

Yes I do. I have a reading of 8+ volts with fresh batteries. SR74 rod at 2.2 ohm. SR71 style bottom insulator. Everything checks out good but when it comes down to performance it lags the last couple of days. It's the old button style if that matters. When I get home I will readjust the gold screw again to see if I have any luck. I do notice if I push the button a certain way with downward pressure, it fires at 100% power.

Glad you got it going.

As far as the bottom adapter the sr74 is the only one that came with that bottom adapter. If you ordered the 74x upgrade then only the internals would have been changed.

Dunno the resistance of the sr74 off the top of my head but you could use the ohms law calculator on the W9tech website and plug in resistance and 7.4v and it'll tell you how many watts would be equivalent to that

My sr74 runs 2.46 my sr71 runs 1.69

The w9 calculator puts the sr74 at 22.26 watts the sr71 at 32.3 watts for 7.4v

These would be an approximate setting since the rods do vary in resistance you'd be best set up by testing your own rods resistance

The herc rods are VERY strongly built, I'm sure it could handle quite a bit more if you wanted to push it. If you do the math for fully charged batteries on the 8 mech mod (8.4v) that would be 33W for the 74x rod, so you could definitely take it further....

I swapped one of the AW IMRs from my Persei into my Aspire CF Mod while it's normal Efest battery was charging. Wow what a huge difference
