I am so excited for Sunday’s ‘Batch 4’ update that I can hardly contain myself. For those that are not in the loop, this will hopefully be when we get to see pictures of our completed Nomad’s for the very first time
I’ve watched with interest the debate about the sleeve. I too was disappointed when Dan first made his announcement about the Nomad II. With the benefit of hindsight, this was not so much due to the change in design but because of the sudden and startling realisation that the Nomad I had been contemplating, deliberating and excitedly looking forward to for so many months was now no longer going to come into existence. It was a fork in the road, the end of a dream… and I was in mourning
I’m delighted to say that for me, that’s not where the story ends. I’m not usually lucky but every dog has his day and I was fortunate beyond belief to be given a late opportunity to join Batch 4 and commission the very last Nomad I, which I am now eagerly awaiting
It is possible to appreciate the Nomad on so many levels (functional design, beautiful aesthetic, craftmanship, options for personalisation, longevity, ease of maintenance, serviceability, uniqueness, rarity etc) but what may not be so apparent is the journey you get to go on when YOUR Nomad is in production. Dan’s bi-weekly updates go far and beyond what anyone might reasonably expect from an artisan manufacturer but they are an absolute joy to behold. The beautiful photography and in depth explanations of what has been happening in his workshop over the last two weeks make the process so involving that you almost don’t want the journey to end. I for one know that I will greatly miss Dan’s email dropping into my inbox every Sunday but I comfort myself by knowing that very soon, I will have MY Nomad (#132), which I can cherish and enjoy until the day that I shuffle off this mortal coil.
As journeys end draws near, I feel absolutely thrilled and extremely privileged to have been a part of it and am already looking forward to re-entering the departure lounge when I get the order call for my Nomad II.
Thank you so very much Dan Morrison, I salute you
