The Nomad From Morwood

With the low powered heater, it def requires a sipping technique; imo even a slower draw than the MFLB.

Right now I'm using the in-body screen as a heat diffuser & still using the screen and wood sandwich in the stem.

It's not that I dislike my sleeve, I think I just, in retrospect, would've preferred my second choice sleeve. Same with the heater lol. Just thinking about the past as if it has ever or can ever be tangible.

Holy crap. I’ve never even heard of another vape that requires anywhere near as slow of a sipping/breathing technique as my MFLB!

Does anyone have a current 18650 battery recommendation specifically for the Nomad? Is there an official recommendation @Dan Morrison ?

If there are any at places with 4/20 sales I might as well pick some up now. :)

I know batteries have been discussed before, but I also know new batteries are released occasionally and more people have more experience to base recommendations on now too.

anybody ordering two sleeves with their nomad? ... one for show and one for go ...

At least one person is getting two, but I think Dan would prefer not to do multiple sleeves in general - they’re pretty time consuming and harder than you might expect to make right.

...otherwise I’d want a lot of them!

LG HE 4 work beautifully and are @Dan Morrison recommended cell. The LG HG2 works well also and runs a tad hotter.
My latest Nomad carrier loaded ready to take on the day.

The Nomads look great, but the only thing that deters me from wanting one is probably the thing people like most about them — the skins! What if I wanted a barebones one that is just plain wood and simple? Is that possible?
I don’t see why not...
It would cost slightly less to make too and save on production time.

That's exactly what I'm waiting and hoping for.

I inquired about this a few pages back though and I didn't really get the impression that it was an option for the foreseeable future. Maybe with more people interested it will be!

I'm getting two more or less for this reason; one as a daily driver and one as more of an art piece (although I plan on showing both of them some love quite frequently). If you go back a few pages I share the mockups for both of them. If I remember correctly, up to this point I'm the only one getting two. I know Dan told me that many people have asked about getting two but it is costly so I think that's why no one really gets more than one.

Thanks for the battery recommendation @SloJimFizz ! If no one really disagrees I’ll just order several of those and a charger when I figure out whether the more expensive ones are worth the extra money.

If I’m not sure I’ll probably just try a Nitrcore 4 or 6 battery charger since that brand seems to be popular around here...but a little searching also makes it look like it might be just one of several brand names on the same charger getting a higher price due to name recognition?

Unless Dan changes the design in the future, it needs a sleeve to stand up; without it the bridge between the battery and heater sticks out the bottom. It’s still perfectly usable like this, and people do it, but you could also get a very basic design (even a solid color) or ask Dan about the possibility of just wood for the sleeve.

Alternatively you could wait and see how things go in future batches since I know you’re not the first to want this and Dan’s always looking to refine and improve things. :)

I did not like so much the idea of a sleeve thingy on the nomad when Dan was designing it, but now, with it in hand, I see the method to the genius. Ties everything together quite nicely... It feels almost leathery. The sleeve is actually a pure delight, imho.

Why don’t my images upload??? :(
You need to use the direct image link. The url you attempted to embed is just a link to an imgur page containing your image. Also, imgur hates FC so even if you had used the direct link, it wouldn't have been viewable for other members. Try using a different image host like postimages.org.

I've removed the image tags from your post so at least the link is clickable for members to see your pic.

Now leather is an interesting word.

I thought about that, if I had to have a sleeve maybe I could get a leather design printed. But from the email, it seems the only printed options are what designs are on those particular Japanese papers...Is it because of the way they are made?

Aye aye aye I can't stop imagining real leather incorporated with this vape now somehow, would be classy as a motherfucker.

Message Dan directly about something like that.

Thanks so much for the link. I've never heard of this company, and now I have them bookmarked for future case and bag needs. They have a lot of great cases and bags that I'd love to have for various pieces that I own.

Thanks for your replies, guys.

I guess if it HAD to have a skin/sleeve, a cool macro of some dank nug would be pretty sweet!

Edit: Why don’t my images upload??? :(

Ahhh, NO! The idea of a photo-type image on one of these horrifies me!
Aaaaaaaahhhhhh, it burns. Make the thought of it go away, and save me this torment!

(You do you, and that's cool. I mean absolutely no offense to you personally, I promise. I just strongly disagree...I feel like a photo-image stuck on a handmade piece of art like these Nomads just takes away from much of what I love about the idea of this vape, and I feel it would "cheapen" it. Just my subjective opinion, of course)

This Saturday, Cheech Marin and and Tommy Chong :leaf: are appearing together at the grand opening of a new weed store a couple of miles from my home.

If I can make my way through the crowd and get near enough to ask them to autograph my Nomad (#13), would it be awesome , or would it be disrespectful :goon: to Dan and his artistry? I need opinions, so have at it!

You could just try to get pictures of them holding it like the one of Lincoln from a couple of pages ago... ;)

I forget what your sleeve is exactly, but if it’s a custom painted one I think signatures would detract from it. If it was one of the blank paper sleeves though, I’d consider it. For other papers I’d probably skip it too, but...

I like the picture suggestion. It avoids altering my Nomad, and a picture would look great next to my pool table. I don’t need any more opinions. Oh, wait, what if they’re doing autographs but not pictures? Damn it!

Normally I think I'd say NOOOOO, a scribble doesn't belong on Dan's little masterpiece, and I would definitely say that if you had gone for a custom painted sleeve.
But since you have this sleeve, and it already looks like the kanji script (izzat right?) has been hand written, I don't think a couple of signatures would look wildly out of place (as long as they werent in fat marker!)
A pic with you, them and the Nomad would be an even better keepsake though!
I guess it depends on how much they mean to you.
:2c: :hmm:

@RelaxedNow , Dude, get that Nomad signed!! For the last couple years pop culture has been a pretty big influence on my art style. I think it would be totally fitting. My intention was for the sleeve to be an ever evolving canvas that could be customized, painted over, pasted over, written on, whatever. Personally I think it looks best when it starts gathering a little history of its own. Black permanent marker would likely be the best. Not sure if it will stick over the wax coating, but I guess you'll find out! I can do a test for ya if you want?

Well, @Dan Morrison, I didn’t ask you directly because I felt I’d be putting you on the spot. But, since you’re encouraging me to go for the autographs, I’ll be standing in line this weekend. Maybe I’ll get lucky and get a picture AND the autographs.

Thanks for offering, but there’s no need to do a test. Being the impatient sort, I’ve already put a tiny dot on my sleeve with a fine-point marker (on top of a matching black character, so it’s not noticeable at all), and it absorbed just fine. :whoa:
