Convection/Conduction . . . seems to me to be like an 80/20 mix
Whatever combination it is, its 100% magic.
Morning after report, I guess you never forget your first time. All my worrying was for naught, the Mighty lives up to it's name.
I only had about 3 bowls, trying perhaps 3 different strains, and the performance was incredible. I tried a full bowl, a half bowl, and 1/3 bowls using the heat pad on that one, and every time it exceeded my expectations.
I would start at around 330 and move up 10 degrees at a time every few minutes, (part of the fun is finding your own way "Candyland" like through the different temps, every time, charting a slightly different journey)
I could go on and on with the positives, but wouldn't be adding anything new to the form. Everything everyone said is true.
So far, only two or three quibbles, but just adding to be fair and balanced.
1. Sometimes when I draw, even very hard, at small temps, the unit would only go down 3 degrees, not going the full 5 degrees to avoid the auto shutoff. At higher temps, no issue, but at around 330, I would inhale very hard, and the dial would only go to 328 or so. Pathway isn't blocked, so will look for the cause of the issue some more and see if it keeps happening.
2. Temp read out feels slightly cheap to me, and I worry I might break it in the future, especially since the Mighty is so powerful. I could hardly make it to my bed last night.
3. Standing, using the orange pick attachment. DO NOT DO THIS. Yes, the orange pick can be pulled out, reversed, and the until will stand. But in no way do I recommend this. There is no way the unit is stable enough, and it will fall. Mine did, nothing bad happened but I vowed never to repeat that.
I do wish the unit was made so it could stand, loading would be easier if you didn't have to hold between your legs or with one hand. The loading tool is neat, but I see no real reason for it, loading is easier and neater for me just pouring it in from the container I keep my stash in.
The only thing I'm not looking forward to is cleaning the cooling unit, but by that time, I'll probably be so in love with it I'll want to give it some cleaning love.
As for the money spent, that number is quickly fading into the past, it is well worth it.
Edit: I forgot to mention, I did not stir the bowl, not even once, and every time the abv came out even and dark.
